The difference between the NFL and the NBA was displayed on the field yesterday. Fred Davis displayed Pro-Bowl ability while Chris Cooley did not register a catch and only had 2 balls thrown his way. If Mike Shanahan was an NBA coach he would have been pressured to keep playing Chris Cooley.
This is the NFL where there is so much pressure that if a Coach shows that he is not willing to play the best players he would lose his respect from his players. "Show me that your the best and I will put you on the field."
Chris Cooley is coming off an injury. He has lost 30 lbs (not good for a shorter than normal tight end).
Fred Davis is just BALLING. He is fast and he is a big mismatch for most linebackers. He is a free agent this coming year so he has all the incentive to bust out, and Busting out he is.
On one big upcoming play in the first half Cooley was waived off the field and I saw him put his head down and shake his head.
Chris Cooley is on the radio and more worried about his Sleep over he will have with his Radio Buddies from 106.7 after a home game next month. I do admit, Chris is excellent when he does assignments for the NFL network. He is great at it. Too bad his outside interests seem to be outweighing his on the field production.
Fred Davis represents a changing of the Guard. The redskins need a big receiver and even though he is a tight end he sure plays like a Wide Receiver.
Hopefully, Cooley can come back fully, but I see no way he can match up with a fit, trim and focused Fred Davis.
