It was the first game!

Post these after 8 weeks. Then we can make a judgement.

right, I forgot, you unbiasedly analyze and judge grossman based on his whole nfl career

and you do the same with Beck right? You obviously have been clamoring for him to start based on his stellar performance in Miami not just what you saw from him recently, right?

Btw I am actually in Becks camp, I prefer his mobility and I think he has a higher ceiling. I’m just against Hating on the inconsistent approach you are using to support your own argument to start Beck vs Grossman.

Grossman had a good week, give him his props and hope for a repeat performance, we all know if the old Grossman rears his sexy face Beck will get his chance but there’s no reason to root for that to happen as it most certainly means a Loss for our skins.

woops should read:

*I am just hating on your inconsistent approach

There is no inconsistant approach here at all

It is actually very consistant with Grossmans past performance’s. If you can’t see that, I don’t know what else I can say.

I was actually clammoring for Beck to get a chance, and I repeat, A CHANCE, for the same reasons you are: mobility, higher celing(and I’ll add, better arm, and better accuracy). I don’t see whats was so wong about this, as we clearly already know what we will get with Grossman, yet we don’t quite know how good(or bad) Beck can be.

We all know Grossman is not the future face of this franchise. He is a stop gap. I don’t see what was wrong with me being in favor of giving Beck a chance. If he failed, we could easily go back to what we have in Grossman.

It is, however, a moot point for the time being, as Grossman played well week 1, and there is no obvious reason to pull him now.

Please stop calling me a hater, and saying I’m against a player, or our team, just because I was for giving Beck another chnace.

never called you a hater

just said I was hating on (infering that i was the hater) how you were judging rex on past performance yet ignoring Beck’s past performance.

sorry

misread your comment then.

Aside from that, what else can I judge Rex on? And I certainly didn’t ignore Beck’s past performance. I actually said he was an unknown, which is exactly what he is.

Seriously

it is obviously only 1 game. But I hate to crush your dreams because Rex is not going to completely self destruct. He might have down weeks but he has proven in the four games he has played now that he is not going to just fall apart and be terrible

I like how the title says that he was "among" the top 7...

He was number 7.

Not a knock on you post, but it is misleading wording that a lot of us around here at HH are guilty of.

I don’t know if the title changed, or if I read it wrong before, but I rescind my comment.

How is everyone liking the Total QBR i noticed that ESPN is the only place to use it over the weekend

Do they have exclusive rights to it or does everybody else just not care? And did it take into account the penalty on Fred Davis?

by jbh1190 on Sep 15, 2011 11:36 AM EDT reply actions

It’s a stat nerd’s wet dream: it quantifies expectations vs performance trying to project how a “standard” QB would have been in every single play. It probably would have taken weeks to come up with this list before computers.

Suspend Colin Campbell!

I don't think ESPN has exclusive rights

But there is a lot of film breakdown involved as well as the code to come up with the score is INCREDIBLY complicated. Like it is nothing less than a computer program sized algorithm.

Good first week for Rex

We all can agree. I’m interested by the total QBR, and it’ll be cool to see throughout the year and if ESPN sticks with it. I like it more than I do QB ratings at least.

by BigOLinemen on Sep 16, 2011 10:38 PM EDT reply actions

That's all I was trying to say

Put in perspective how good of a week Rex had. That’s all.

I hope they do stick with it. It’d be interesting to see how everyone does each week.
