PrintOf all the regular posts I do, the game day threads are certainly one of my favorites - mainly because I'm a stat junkie. We finally get a first look at our draft picks, where the Redskins fan base will undoubtedly become attached to one star (Colt Brennan, Marko Mitchell, Jordan Palmer) and be up in arms when he doesn't make the team. I've only worked in computers my whole life...what is Mike Shanahan doing!?!!?!
The Redskins and Steelers have played against each other 19 times in preseason - Washington has a 12-6-1 record. In the regular season, the Redskins and Steelers have battled 76 times, with the Redskins boasting a 42-31-3 record (let's not talk about the last regular season game we played). (H/T Redskins.com)

It’s not free but at $19.99 for the preseason it’s not too bad. Especially considering they are HD quality and I can connect the laptop to my big screen using an HDMI cable.
All the preseason games are available live or on-demand. Might be worth it to you…it’s basically $5.00 per ’skins game.

I heard he was having a great TC, hopefully he translates it to the field and by week 6 I want him, Hank and Moss starting with AA as the 4th receiver. That would be one hell of an attack with our new improved RB corps and our somewhat better OL.

They just showed a part of Fedex Field on Redskins Kickoff and I seriously couldn’t find one Redskins jersey in the crowd. Obviously it’s early and the camera was far away from the fans so it was somewhat hard to tell, but the only jerseys I could see were black.

goes to preseason games that is a Skins fan. I couldn’t even give away my preseason tickets when I had season tickets. If you are going to all that hassle to go to that stadium, people want a real game.

With no tickets available in the regular season the only way people used to get to see the Skins was by going to a preseason game, now that they’ve been so bad it’s not hard to get a ticket during the regular season from a disgusted fan.

Firstrow is where I watched the Giro and most of the Tour de France, as well as most of last year’s skins games as I’m in NC. I watched it on firstrowsports.com but it looks like it’s been siezed. www.firstrowsports.eu seems to be carrying it. I’ve got a slowly spinning NFL shield at the moment. Good sign?

This team does seem to have some attitude, little bit of nasty.
Thats a good thing. We saw a little of it last year but they appear pretty fired up
My biggest individual takeaways (position battles) from the 1st Quarter were:
- Barnes playing starting nickle, in for a sack on the first drive
- Graham’s really bad miss
- Darrell Young playing some starting FB and getting involved in the passing and blocking game.

a good return man as well…and he can actually contribute as a receiver too…Niles Paul as well if I am not mistaken.
I like the little guy, he represents me and the other below 6’ crew…but with the dynamic of this offense, we need as many multi-dimensional players as possible

No comparison between Austin and Banks on returns
Austin is an average returner. Banks has elite return skills. In fact, he’s one of a handful of guys on the whole roster that we can say has “elite” anything. Banks has great speed but also great acceleration, moves and instincts. He had more all-purpose yards (77) yesterday than anyone else in the game, including our leading receiver (Moss, 64) and leading RB (Royster, 64). I don’t see why we can’t keep him as a #6 WR. How many teams get contributions from their #6 WR?

my take on the first half:
1. Grossman def knows the offense, and sometimes the scheme can make a guy look good in spite of their ability. Grossman looks the part of that description?
2. I’m surprised by the Olines performance against PIT first team front 7
3. Hightower fits the scheme
4. Defense looks like there may be breakdowns in coverage down field, hopefully a healthy Landry/Atogwe helps that.
5. Wilson got whored on the PI call, apparently you can’t make eye contact with the receiver anymore
6. Graham Gano is your kicker in 2011
7. Defense has been good at making plays at meaningful times. (Kerrigan on 3rd and 1 anybody?)

Both offensive and defensive line play looked good in the 1st half. Skins defensive lineman was held at the point
of attack on the Steelers touchdown. The Steelers’ OL wrapped his right arm around the Skins’ DL.
