SERIES HISTORY

The Redskins and Steelers have met a total of 19 times in preseason, with Washington holding a 12-6-1 edge.

The two franchises last faced off in the preseason in 2009, with the Steelers pulling out a 17-13 victory at FedExField.

In the regular season, the Redskins and Steelers have played 76 times, with Washington holding a 42-31-3 edge in the series.

The last time the two clubs met in the regular season was Nov. 3, 2008, when the Steelers defeated the Redskins 23-6 in a Monday Night contest at FedExField.

The Redskins jumped ahead 6-0 on a pair of Shaun Suisham field goals in the first quarter, but the Steelers responded with 23 unanswered points. Ben Roethlisberger scored on a 1-yard dive, but he later suffered a shoulder injury. He was replaced by Byron Leftwich, who guided the Steelers to two second-half touchdowns.

Jason Campbell completed 23-of-43 passes for 206 yards and two interceptions. He was sacked seven times by the ferocious Steelers defense.

If you guys could

have Ryan Kerrigan/LaRon Landry/Byran Orakpo take a running spear into Big Ben’s ankle that keeps him out for a comfortable 5 weeks, I will never say an ill word about the Redskins again.

I like Turtles!

I'd rather they aim for his balls.

First half please

I’d like to see the first string oline play the 1st half to advance the cohesion as much as possible and rotate backups in and out.

Jerricho Cotchery should be in that starting lineup

in place of Sanders. And Hines should be in there in place of David Johnson.

Well, I meant hines as a WR

But I think he’d be a pretty good fullback too…Hmmm…

It really depends on if they (Steelers) come out with a run look first

If they show pass first, then David Johnson will not be out there, and it will be 3 WR’s. Wallace, Ward and (probably) Cotchery. If not Cothery, than Antonio Brown. Especially since Sanders has been ruled out for this game.

How about Okung getting hurt again?

Gotta give Shanny his due for picking the Silverback over him.

Saw that

Took him off on the cart. Supposedly another ankle injury (or the same one he hurt last year).

high ankle injury too..

…those can linger for a long time…he could be ineffective for half the season if they rush him back…

U can't be serious
injuries are luck, nothing else

An ankle injury like that is luck, sure certain players aren't as durable, but this is new ground for Okung

he didn’t have a long history in college of injuries. Also Trent missed time with a number of minor injuries last year, so we aren’t exactly comparing Okung to Cal Ripken here.

I understand certain injuries are luck

But to make a statement “injuries are luck, nothing else” is ridiculous.

sorry, let me restate

injuries are largely luck, as they have been with Okung.

Shanahan did not predict Okung’s injuries.
