As for Rex Grossman's comments
It’s annoying me to all hell the media is running wild with this. If anyone has played sports for bad teams, and I have, you should be feeling confident going into a season. I was playing hockey at the time…I knew the other teams were better than us but we had some play makers….I’m standing behind Rex on this. Put yourself in that locker room….watching film, camaraderie, second year in the system. Giants and Cowboys are a mess….that really leaves Eagles. Jesus, I sound like Ken.

I think Rex is right.
I’ve been predicting a 10-6 or 11-5 season. The defense is really going to catch the rest of the division off guard, and we’ve seen what happens when Romo and Manning are under pressure.
The offense will be better and more balanced with a younger, stronger and more talented OL, WR corp and RB stable.
I can’t wait until week 1.

Unless you have enough to share with everyone
you really shouldn’t be doing drugs this early in the morning.
Since you obviously haven’t learned the lesson yet, set your expectations low going into a season. That way, when they flame out and win only 5 games, your aren’t tortured by soul crushing depression.

That is the most ass-backwards way of thinking ever.
Is this what you do week 1?
Step 1. Take Prozac/Xanax/Bloody Mary mix around 11a.m.
Step 2. Write emo poem in haiku form about how Skins will lose.
Step 3. Complain to your friend(s) about how this is going to be ugly.
Step 4. Act shocked when Redskins get a first down.

Completely agree
I would be fine with him saying we were going to be undefeated & win the SB. We don’t need a QB who is a realist, we need one who thinks he has a chance to win every game.
It may be annoying
but are you surprised? The media loves to hate the Redskins. It’s also been pretty quiet this year so of course they’re looking for something to make fun of. Unfortunately this has been built up over the last 10 years (3 especially) and it won’t go away until we start winning.
Personally I love seeing/hearing all the confidence and unwillingness to just mail it in coming from the players.
Well what was Rex supposed to say?
“Well Kelly, I think it’s pretty clear we’re going to suck donkey dick this season. I just hope I make it through this year without a career ending injury behind our shoddy O-line. If I weren’t playing I wouldn’t even bother watching the games, because it’s going to be sucktastic.”
Somehow that doesn’t seem like the right attitude to have in his situation.
It’s laughable how no one, outside of true redskins fans, even gives us a chance. Yeah, its be a bad decade (or more), but why do we have to stay down and continue being the doormats of the NFC East? We don’t. Other teams have come from worse scenarios to improve (see Tampa and Detroit). Culture is changing and they are hating, probably because the skins will soon be relevant again and that’s an awful thought for them to fathom. We will be a tough team to have to deal with soon…maybe this year in fact.

They still crack on the Raiders, when they looked really tough last year.
They put a prison beating on KC to end the season. The Skins will just have to go out week 1, kick the Giants in the balls and the haters will shut up.

Raiders are another great example. But I guess its not such a bad thing to continue being underestimated. When the skins go out and start cracking some skulls they might start getting noticed. But the haters will still say they suck…so screw them.

They’ll say that the Giants are a team on the down swing, with a line in flux (or worse) due to the short season, and that the Redskins played over there heads. Same kind of stuff the Eagles said when we swept them a few years back.
We’d have to win 8 games for the haters to stop hating, and even then it will be “But that was the EASY part of the schedule”.

"By far the worst performers on the (Redskins) are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
Nah, I think its laughable because everyone is on the bandwagon that the redskins can’t change and improve. Change happens all throughout the league. There is a good chance that half the teams that made the playoffs last year won’t make it this year. That means six new teams will make it this year. That is change my friend. The fact that people cant believe the skins can change, when it happens to other teams every year, is laughable. How can people be so openminded about other teams and so closeminded about the skins?

by AplastarCraneos on Aug 10, 2011 1:04 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
How can you say the media world is NOT against us? Just read any article out there about the skins. ESPN power rankings start the skins at 29, behind at least 5 other teams that have QB issues (starting a rookie, new starter, etc.) and equal or lesser talent on the roster. Give me a break.
by AplastarCraneos on Aug 10, 2011 1:14 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
There is a difference
in saying that the media has an unreasonable bias and in saying that they don’t think the skins will be any good this year and stating those reasons. When I say that I think Carolina will be terrible this year, it isn’t because I have a bias against Carolina. It’s based on what I see on their roster.

"By far the worst performers on the (Redskins) are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
Fair point. But you can’t just keep calling a team bad just because they have been bad for a while. What is irritating is that the media doesn’t pay any attention to new additions to the roster and their potential to make the team better. This is evidenced just the other day when some media tard wrote up the redskins off-season and neglected to consider most of the new pieces to the puzzle. Instead of investigating the matter, they just blindly assumed the redskins would suck again just because that is what they’ve done in the past.
by AplastarCraneos on Aug 10, 2011 2:26 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
there are always going to be idiotic sports columns written, so it's no use caring about that.
the point is that if most people aren’t giving the skins much of a chance this year, it’s reasonably justified, not evidence of some evil media bias.
"By far the worst performers on the (Redskins) are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
I won't mention
the espn Poll I posted in a fanpost. If he sees that 48% of the people think Washington is the worst team in the league, his head might explode at the unfair bias.

That just supports my point. The 48% of people who think the skins are the worst team in the league haven’t done their homework for this year. That’s a biased belief based on the past, not the present. It’s simple word recognition…skins equal suck. That’s the way its been recently, so that’s the way its got to be now, right? Just wait…the skins won’t be the worst team in the league and those 48% are gonna eat it. Oh yeah, how about the bias the cowboys always get. Every year they are going to be great because they have so much talent. But what have they done lately…about as much as the skins. There it is.

Giants are a mess Kevin?
Why, because of Osi? Because our 4th CB got hurt? Because we didn’t want to throw crazy money at a good, but nowhere near All-Pro TE? Because we cut old dead wood on the Oline and replaced it with younger, more talented players? Because we figured there was a chance we’d lose Cofield and so spent two years drafting strong DTs? Because we went from one of the worst rated punters to one of the best? I’m honestly confused by this statement. Every single move the Giants have made this year is what you’ve been praying for the Skins to do for years, but we’re bringing back more talented players to start with.

I'll leave Steve Smith out
poor guy’s gonna miss at least six games. We’ll see if he comes back in the second half. Third receiver right now is a competition between our speed demon rookie (who’s not dropping passes every single practice), a fully healthy Hixon, or last year’s preseason darling Victor Cruz. Heck, we can even throw Barden in there if he ever gets back on the field. Then we still have a depth battle between Thomas (that would hurt, if he came back as a quality performer for the Giants), Michael Clayton, and even Darius Freaking Reynaud has been impressing so far. You have one starter who would be a great slot guy for the Giants, and another starter who would be fighting for the 4th/5th spot. From your depth, Hankerson, Armstrong, and Paul would all be fighting for a roster spot.
