Ray Edwards Set to Join the Eagles
As much as we like to follow Skins rumors here at HH, we will also be keeping a keen eye on division rivals. I'm sure most have heard the Brett Favre rumors, where he would be potentially be going to Philadelphia to back up Michael Vick, really Brett? REALLY.
But something more substantive came today when D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote that the Atlanta Falcons will drop their pursuit of Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards, and that Edwards likely has a deal in place with the Eagles.
Ray Edwards is headed elsewhere: The Falcons reportedly have had a change of heart. They are going to focus on retaining their 11 free agents and will not be a player in the Ray Edwards derby. The defensive end is expected to land in Philadelphia.
Dan Graziano also chimed in on the potential Edwards deal:
"With Brandon Graham still a major question mark because of his injury, new defensive line coach Jim Washburn is interested in adding a pass-rushing defensive end to play on the side opposite Trent Cole. Edwards might have played in Jared Allen's shadow in Minnesota, but he's shown enough (I think, in particular, of a January 2010 playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys) to make teams think he can be a force on his own.
Ledbetter also went to say that the Falcons will put a lot of resources into re-signing potential Redskins target Tyson Clabo.

Definitely a good signing for the Eagles (and it's sounding like a pretty much done deal)
This also likely means that Charles Johnson will head back to Carolina.

That was my first thought but...
considering we got off stealing Haynesworth, we’re the last team to be pointing fingers.

We THOUGHT getting Haynesworth was a steal.
but, the rest of the league knew better
Of course it blew up in our faces, but let’s not kid ourselves – the Skins contacted Fat Al before they were allowed to.

Just like they're most likely doing right now!
When if u can, lose if you must, but always cheat! – jesse the body ventura
Every team would be guilty of tampering at this point b/c they've all been talking to agents.
NFL is just turning a blind eye

The league understood this long before the lockout occurred.
I think the rules were in place to allow teams some lee-way in terms of maintaining contact with players through different channels.
Anyone that follows the numbers...
Does this signing have much of a bearing on whether the Eagles can go after another big name like Asomugha still?
Well
I don’t know their cap space, but I’ve been hearing Kevin Kolb for Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie, and with him and Asante Samuels, they wouldn’t need another CB. But that’s the rumors I’ve been hearing is all.
Only problem is they want to press and play Tampa 2, which doesn't suit Samuel

Not good news for the 'Skins OL.
This guy can play. Him and Cole on opposite sides? Oof.
Here’s hoping Kerakpo develop quickly and give us a threat, because every other NFC East team will have a fearsome pass rush next season.

Kerrigan is a high motor guy
Big, strong athlete, fights to the very end, slaps hands, rips hard, I think his transition will be good. As long as we stabilize our DL, I think our OLBs could easily combine for 20+ sacks. Orakpo is a freak and Kerrigan’s attitude should help him be an instant impact despite little instruction.
I'll be honest, Kerrigan (who was better than Orakpo in college) and Orakpo,
will be the best pair of rushers in the East this year.
Ray Edwards was also on a really good D-Line in Minnesota, I ain’t scurred.
"That's what she said!"
^^^ I would be delighted for you to be proven right, my friend!
Here’s to Romo, Vick and Eli taking advantage of all their newly-won health benefits!

Shit...
Though Edwards may be showcased once he leaves that he was productive as a result of the Williams brothers and Jared Allen grabbing the attention up front.
