List of Redskins Practicing Today at High School Field

Pic via @danhellie

Several of the Redskins beat writers are tweeting from the player-led practice today. Feel free to add in news you hear to the comments below. Based on @john_keim, @Insider, @granthpaulsen, @Rich_Campbell the following players of the approximate 40 total are in attendance, 10 of which are 2011 draft picks:

Ryan Kerrigan, Roy Helu, Niles Paul, Leonard Hankerson, Evan Royster, Maurice Hurt, Chris Neild, Gomes, Markus White, and Thompson.

John BeckRex GrossmanMike Sellers, Erik Cook, Kendric Golston, Rocky McIntosh, and Clint Oldenberg

Fletcher and Lorenzo Alexander are leading the defensive formations, Rabach the offensive ones, Anthony Armstrong WR drills, DeAngelo Hall CBs.

DeMaurice Smith also stopped by the practice.

Trent Williams and Phillip Daniels are not there. Players may still be trickling in, which might be the case since Jeremy Jarmon tweeted 20 minutes ago there was a huge line outside DC Cupcakes.

Names are still coming in....

I am shocked to hear Trent Williams isn't there.......

I’ve also been keeping up with tweets from the newly drafted players and have heard that Brandyn Thompson (CB, Boise State) is in D.C. and has been for a day or two so I assume he’s going to be there also. Also read a tweet from @AldrickRobinson where he stated that he planned to attend also. We shall see…….

I'm not really shocked

What is there for linemen to do in these drills? Kareem Moore, Henson, and Terrence Austin are all tweeting now so it looks like they’re all still at home.

As Fans Should We Be Worried.......

About guys like Kereem Moore, Terrence Austin and Robert Henson or any of the players that opt not to show up?

I don't think so

Players have other obligations, and I doubt most players are ditching the practice. ie – they keep in touch w/ Fletch and have excuses. Some might be getting into town tomorrow. I would make a lot out of it yet.

Most important thing is the rookies are there

And learn the playbook in motion…ie – what’d they get in OTAs, etc.

And....

I don’t know how true it is, but I heard that John Beck gave Leonard Hankerson a photo copied playbook when the two worked out together in California…..if this is true, maybe Beck can get more photo copied playbooks to other offensive rookies.

Why wouldn't Haynesworth show up for this?

I get it that he and management don’t get along…..but management is banned! While working out with Chip Smith is great thing, it might be helpful for him to get in the public eye a bit in a good way if he wants out of DC, at least look like a team player

Why wouldn’t Haynesworth show up for this?

Very simple. Because he already got paid in full.

I had to LMAO

He didn’t show up when he was given his $MM (many millions) bonus. He didn’t show up to collect his OTA attendance fees. Why in the hell did you think he would show up for free???

If Beck and Grossman get in an argument does Beck just say: “Shut up Rex, technically you’re not even on the team!”

Is Jarvis Jenkins there or not???

I hope our 2nd round pick is there because he’s a “big boy” and I want to make sure he stays in (err.. gets in) shape.

John Keim just confirmed to me via Twitter...

that no slip’n’slides or dodgeballs were present at this workout.

UPDATE ON JARVIS JENKINS

Apparently a lot of Clemson guys are working out together. So today Jenkins was working with: Da’Quan Bowers, Marcus Gilchrist, Ricky Sapp, and Michael Hamlin.

Interesting TidBIT
Kevin Barnes says the coaching staff told him he will be used strictly at CB. He spoke with them during the 1 day the lockout was lifted.

Is it okay to start hazing the rookies at these practices?

Or does the duct tape not come out until they are signed?

Fletch made them pick up all the ropes and gear.

I know Parks only wants to hear about paddle spankings but those days are gone.

Orackpo

should be there to teach Kerrigan a few things.

by getmoneykid on May 24, 2011 5:01 PM EDT reply actions

I maybe completely off here

But I thought I heard that Kerrigan has a more well rounded skill set than Orakpo and that he maybe the one doing the teaching (as far as pass rushing moves go).

Don’t take that the wrong way, when i heard/read that i got the impression that Orakpo does a few moves really really well, where kerrigan does alot of moves well….

Anyone else remember when that was said?

I've always thought

that someone should be teaching O something besides that outside shoulder worm thing. It’s all he does and needs to be augmented with other stuff. Agree with you completely.

word is Rex looked better than Beck

I just heard some dudes talking about today’s practice on ESPN radio. They said that Rex’s passes were looking pretty on point while Beck’s passes were all over the place.

They also said that austin looked great, running great routes and catching everything thrown to him.

Lastly, they said Davis looked great. Has lost 10 or so pounds and looks very agile and quick. “He looks like a different human being” they said.

For what it’s worth.

haha can't believe we're analyzing a "pick-up" practice

Fred Davis??

sooo, was he doing volunteer work for underprivelleged kids in his free time? I mean, it’s like he stunk up the joint, but lets not go crazy here.

Dropped percentage TE - http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/05/25/drop-percentage-tight-ends/

The dropped percentage for Davis was 15%+ and he was at the bottom of the list at #34. Cooley was much better. I did not realize Davis dropped so many and thought he had good hands.

by Jefferson1935 on May 25, 2011 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions

my logic for this is that he gets jittery on the big stage

His targets were so few and far between this year that he was deemed completely unreliable. but in year 2 with Zorn, when Cooley was out, he got comfy and was targeted often and what we got was the great hands, speed and play making ability we saw in him when we drafted him.

by skinsfan28 on May 25, 2011 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Sorry I should have specified

Last year some beat writers during training camp said Davis was a man among boys and that didn’t transition into the season so i’m not to optomistic with the “different human being” talk… i’d take “Man among Boys” over “different human being” and that didn’t translate into playing time so….
