Redskins Select Ryan Kerrigan, OLB, Purdue. Create KERAKPO!

Stay connected for news and updates

The Redskins selected reigning Big 10 Player of the Year Ryan Kerrigan, outside linebacker out of Purdue. The Redskins selected Kerrigan after trading the number 10 overall pick to the Jaguars for their 1st and 2nd round pick.

Here is some more information on Kerrigan from my HH draft preview:

Kerrigan is pretty solid across the board. He has a tremendous burst off the line and possesses a great deal of power given his size. At Purdue, Kerrigan tied the all-time FBS fumbles forced record with 14. Kerrigan is more athletic than Orakpo or any of our OLBs in terms of underneath coverage.  Kerrigan is a phenomenal pass rusher and has active hands when QBs are looking to throw.

He was also the captain of Purdue’s team this year, won the team’s Pit Bull Award (for team tenacity), and is a two time All-Big Ten Academic Team member.

Kerrigan provides a bookend to the Redskins linebacking corps with Brian Orakpo.
