Redskins Possible Trade with Titans

Redskins trade Donovan McNabb, Albert Haynesworth, and their second round pick for Tennessee Titans 8th overall. Makes since for both team because, both McNabb and Haynesworth wants out of Washington. The Titans are projected to take Nick Fairley with their 8th pick. Getting Haynesworth back and a veteran quarterback in McNabb will improve their team. They would then have two second round picks were they can draft a quarterback like Ryan Mallett or Christian Ponder to groom; and then have the option to draft a cornerback or wide receiver with their other second round pick. The Redskins could use the 8th and 10th pick to draft Patrick Peterson, A.J. Green, Julio Jones, Cam Newton, Jake Locker, or the best player available; but this trade has to be done on draft day depending on how the first 7 picks plays out.. Both teams will come out happy in this trade. Somebody tell the Redskins front office to make this happen.

Great trade for the Redskins, but you have to factor in McNabb’s and Haynesworth’s contracts. I’m not sure there’s a team in the league that would take McNabb and his contract even if they didn’t have to give up anything to get him. I’m not quite as familiar with Haynesworth’s deal as I am with NcNabb’s, but that’s a biggie, too. With the Redskins all but certain to cut both players, I’m not sure this deal would be appealing to Tennessee.

My thoughts exactly

I don’t think McNabb and Haynesworth hold hardly any value anymore, certainly not enough to move up that much. I think we’d be fortunate to grab 4ths for them at this point., much less help us move up to the 1st.

Haynesworth's contract is cap friendly

now that the guaranteed money is out of the way.

I don’t think there is any chance the Skins cut Haynesworth. He has trade value. He plays, or get traded; they are the two options as of now.

Are you not entertained?

Not going to cut either one.

No way. They’ll play backup roles and just shut their mouths or get suspended until somebody wants to pony up a price Shanahan and Allen can live with.

ABSOLUTELY NOT

We need to acquire MORE picks with mcnabb and haynesworth, not just raise the ones we have

I couldn't agree more...

I would do the two of them for like a 4, 5, and 7, or a 3, 6, and 7, something like that. Honestly, we’re at the point where we just need some fresh warm bodies fighting for positions.

uhh

you know the vlue of trading back from a 1st is better than 2 fourths right?

Think about it; If we trade back with the Rams or Patriots for a first and second then we just got the 14th pick for moving back 4 spots in the second round, McNabb and Haynesworth.

All of this is hypothetical though because it’ll never happen.

I would much rather have 2 firsts then a 1st, 2nd, and dead weight.

I mean 8 and 10 means Jake Locker AND Julio Jones!! (jk)

But here is a different take tman5, that 8th pick gives us leverage to trade back more. That 8th can give us maybe two seconds.

I would love to pick before and after the cowboys as well!

Maybe like Prince AND Quinn.

depends on the new salary structure

a #8 overall pick is a very expensive investment under the old system, and we better be getting a player at a position of need.

We’re not even sure we can draft one of those at 10.

Just think who we could get with that newly acquired pick

We could still turn around and trade down with one of our first round picks, too (in effect, getting the second round pick, and more, back). I still have hope that Albert will shape up, but that is not certain, so if we use him to get another high pick, we could use it to get another “beast” who definitely does want to play in the 3-4. Such a trade would get us valuable picks for almost nothing (considering that D-Mac and Albert aren’t too valuable rght now). All that said, I don’t know if Tennessee would make such a trade.

Good idea but most likely impossible to pull off

I have my own sort of dream scenario…..The Skins draft Da’Quan Bowers from clemson, keep Haynesworth, move orakpo back to DE and switch back to the 4-3 defense. i dont even care who the fourth D-lineman would be….a line of Bowers/Haynesworth/Orakpo would be unstoppable…..assuming fat Al could actually get his act together/

by CuseSkinsfan1 on Apr 3, 2011 1:41 PM EDT reply actions

You must not have seen Bowers pro day

In addition to the fact that there is a 80% chance he will need microfracture surgery. He will most like slip way down in the draft. 3-4 didn’t look so good last year, but we need the personnel to run it. 3-4 is a much tougher defense to defend.

2nd round picks are my BFF

so I say no.

Me.

depends on the new salary structure though.

under the old deal, with a team with as many needs as ours? I’d much rather have two late 2nds

Yea, I agree with the others

No one will be trading for McNabb’s contract….I wouldn’t take that on for free much less top picks. Haynesworth will be cheap next year, but the huge bonuses start kicking in again after that…not worth it.

Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

It'd probably take the shape of a sign & renegotiate deal.

He’d have to be willing to revise his contract, and if he really wants out of Washington he’ll do it.

by tuckwell on Apr 4, 2011 1:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Or Snyder will just....

pay him the damn bonus and trade him after. You take that bonus out at the beginning of this season and that contract isn’t nearly as bad.

Yet another offseason......another few months for the Skins to "shine".

Kevin's point suggests

that we might be able to enjoy watching Albert this year (although I still think he can be traded, and could just be cut). Tiller and I and a few others still have hopes he will shape up and return to form – and he is still very talented and a gamebreaker. He is, after all, a professional football player who has tarnished his reputation and doesn’t have a lot of options. He’s still on the team, and the labor mess could keep him on it.

Yes - no trades during the lockout

Hopefully Judge Nelson will lift the lockout before the draft. I don’t know the general merits of that, but from a selfish Redskins point of view, it would be great. We need trades and FA more than most teams. E.g., we would like to trade for picks, and trade McNabb and AH. Trades would effect our (and others) draft strategy (e.g., if we traded D-Mac to AZ or Minn, they wouldn’t draft a QB in the draft, at least not high, so there’d be one fewer team to worry about in relation to QBs). As of now, I think teams can trade picks for picks, but no player throw-ins.
