Clinton Portis on The Way Out
So...Clinton Portis may finally be on the way out. I for one...LOVE the idea of letting the old expensive guys bounce and bringing in some young hungry guys who don't yet have a sense of entitlement. How awesome would it be to have a team like the Bucs who are super young and should be competing for years.
Shanahan said Portis’ contract number was too high, and he prefers to let a player like that test the market rather than offer him a pay reduction. Shanahan was asked if he anticipated that happening with Portis.

No way the Skins are going to pay $8.1 million to a guy who’s been on IR the past two seasons and playing running back in the NFL for 10 years. Shanny traded him away once and it was easy to see that he’d dump him in a heartbeat if necessary.

I think John Riggins just popped a bottle of champagne somewhere…
The world looks mighty different when you're peeking out your belly button
I want Clinton back...
Granted, not nearly at the price he was going to cost under his current deal. Also, I want him at FB, and cut Sellers. Clinton was an amazing blocking RB, and I think at FB he could shine, while also being a mismatch in the passing game. I don’t know, just a thought…
Interesting
Everyone is ready to get rid of Sellers. I think he’s worth keeping because of his special teams value
You can get younger & better
For cheaper.
I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

maybe that's true
but he can’t be a part of the offense…he held the offense back as much as anyone.

I don't think this quote gives the whole context.
He said they are still evaluating everybody. I hope he goes. It’s time. Same with Sellers.

I say
let him go, he can test the market. see where it goes from there and in a couple years retire as a skin. his good production days are gone and i’m sorry to say that cuz he could’ve shined a few more years without the injuries. as far as sellers, let him stay on spec teams

the problem with keeping sellers for special teams only...
is that brandon banks is basically a special teams only guy too. it’s hard to keep multiple players that are only going to be used for a few kickoffs per game. it would make more sense to use those roster spots for a backup linebacker that play special teams.
