As much focus during this offseason appears to be QB and OL/DL I think an area being extremely overlooked is the RB situation. The Skins were ranked 30th in the league averaging 91yrds and our leading rusher was Ryan Torain with 741yrds. This is very disturbing to me as the inability to run the ball effects how often the QB is throwing and the increase odds an OL is going to get beat or miss a blitz pick up. These are uncharacteristic stats for a Shanahan run game and is an area we should not ignore. Odds are Portis is done in Washington and we have Torain and Williams leading the depth chart at RB. Torain was a great surprise but was injury prone and not as reliable at some times. Williams was a decent change of pace but thought he made his impact making catches out of the backfield. Out of all the positions this will be the hardest to address with other areas in higher need lack of Draft Picks and nobody that really stands out in FA ( also no new CBA ). This is why I stated in previous picks that a QB may not be the best option right now due to who we currently have and statistically it wasn't that bad. Skins need to find that threat in the backfield as much as anything this offseason. We forget in the past with Portis at his prime and the history of the Skins that a strong back was able to carry this team to success, the OL will improve as they go and they develop continuity with a group but a Back who has great vision to find running room and ability to take it to the house will open up alot for the offense.
