It all starts with rex
I know this is nothing you don't know. Please allow me the time to express my outrage without crying like a baby or destroying the flat screen.
When your qb tries to call back to back timeouts you are fucked. When your qb cannot sense pressure you are fucked. When your qb is sacked and fumbles EVERY time you are fucked. When everybody is screaming about the oline being bad and they give you plenty of time to pass and you hold on to the ball too long, you are fucked. When you turnover average is more than any other qb in the league, you are fucked. When you give the opposing team short fields you are fucked. The defense did not play spectacular there in the 4th, but you cannot keep turning the ball over on the wrong side of the field. GOD DAMNIT. Ive never hated a player more than i hate REX. I feel like he has dramitcally cost us 4 wins. I don't care if a pass is called. Audible to a fucking run and stop thinking you are anything more than a game manager. Every time you drop back to pass you are capable of creating a chaotic event.
Some other notes....
1)we will never win when we refuse to run the ball. 3rd and fucking 1 is a run down, thank you.
2)it is too risky to resign fred davis to long term deal. Franchise him maybe for one year till you find a replacement. The drug suspensions tell the tale that he is not a true pro and doesn't get it.
3)trent williams also. Does he get it?
4)defense gave up there at the end. Kind of hard to blame them when your supposed team leader puts you in bad situation after bad situation.
5)still alot of holes to be filled. looking forward to the offseason.
6)one more thing. Gano and banks need to go as soon as this season is over

i feel like he had enough time to get rid of the ball today
by davetrembling on Dec 4, 2011 6:13 PM EST up reply actions
On none of the sacks today
did he have more than 2-3 seconds, and it was from the blind side almost every time, including the fumble. unacceptable.
Disagree. You could have the best OLine in the league and you still wouldn’t be a playoff team with Rex. Skins OLine needs a lot of improvement and is the second biggest issue but of course it all starts with the QB.
Are you watching the Packers game right now?
Look what happens when Rodgers’ pocket breaks down. Inaccurate, off target passes. If you had the best line in the league even John Beck could look decent.
Assuming you want to amend this comment after some of the throws Rodgers made with pressure in his face. Also had some great decisions running the ball. Rodgers is not great because of his OL.
No, I don't want to amend that comment for 2 reasons:
1) Even if he made some good throws under pressure, Rex has done that too. The thing that divides the two is that good line play takes Rodgers from good to perfect whereas it would take Rex from serviceable to good. Not to mention a lot of what I’m guessing you’d call “throws under pressure” completed only because his receivers made some incredible catches – Jordy Nelson comes to mind on multiple occasions. Many of his other throws under pressure were at his receiver’s feet. I assure you, if his line had kept the pressure off of him that game would not have been nearly as close as it was.
2) Tim Tebow has made some great decisions running the ball too. The fact that the Defense plays deep zones and leaves running lanes open for a QB doesn’t make the decision to run the ball “great”, it makes it easy, a no-brainer. Duh.
We aren’t going to agree if you think Rex is serviceable. That implies average to me. He is a well below average QB.
You don't think he's played OK this season?
Look, I get that he has his really bad games, like the eagles and the jets, but really, if we had an OL that gave him all day in the pocket and a running game that averaged 130-150 yards a game, he would look a hell of a lot better than he does now.
I’m not arguing for Rex to stay, so don’t take it that way. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to draft a QB, preferably Matt Barkley. But the notion that replacing Rex would instantly fix our problems on offense is absurd, as is the idea that a single player is more important than the 5 players protecting him.
Our offensive line is currently ranked 25th in pass pro and 20th in run blocking. that’s unacceptable. To think that Rex wouldn’t look good with an offensive line that ranked 24 spots higher is also ridiculous. The comment that started this debate – that it starts with the OL, then Rex – was not intended to be a voucher for Rex but an attempt at dissolving the idea that it all “starts with rex”. Because it doesn’t, not literally or philosophically.
Like I said, it all starts with the OLine, the foundation of the entire offense. But there’s no doubt Rex is a big part of it, and needs to be replaced.
How good did Rex look the year he went to the Superbowl?
So good the Bears waived him and never looked back.
Well actually
He was the starter the next year

c'mon
We have to be realistic here. You’re conversating about Aaron Rogers being pressured, and then you say this…
bq. but really, if we had an OL that gave him all day in the pocket
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

damn
Phone posted early.
Anyway, no QB is gonna have “all day” all the time. There were times Sunday when Rex had plenty of time. Did he get pressured some? Sure. All QB’s do. But not all QB’s are as bad at handling the pressure as Rex is, and not all QB’s fumble EVERYTIME they get hit from behind.
Look, at this point, this conversation makes no sense. Even the most delusional of fans know that Rex isn’t a long term solution here. We have four more games of Rex as our ONLY option. No chance the Shanny’s go into next year with the same situation.

Rodgers would have won the game for us yesterday.
When the pocket breaks down he makes plays, not every time but often. Almost everytime the qb is moving around for 4-5secs there is somewhere to throw the ball if he can see it and has the arm to make the play.
We would easily be a playoff team with the best line in the league. We have a bottom 10 line, most likely a bottom 5 line. You don’t think having the best would have resulted in half the sacks, an extra 30 yards running per game and half the number of sack fumbles. If that happens we are in first place in the NFC east. We are only 3 games out now with an absolutely terrible line. Rex is terrible and I can’t wait for a new starter but lets not kid ourselves about our line and how that line makes the terrible Rex appear even more terrible.
Akili Smith will have a better pro career than Landry Jones
The offensive line
doesn’t have 18 turnovers in 12 games. That’s on Train Rex. He had plenty of opportunities today to get rid of the ball but took sacks instead. No we don’t have the best line in the NFL…far from it but we sure have one of the worst QB’s.
by DudleyDoright on Dec 5, 2011 9:53 AM EST up reply actions
Yes His turnovers are big problem
But none were his fault today so that is besides the point. He played bad yesterday. It happens. Do you want beck back? The obsessive haters are the same people who cried for John beck guaranteeing he was way better. Rex has good games that can not be denied. And Rex has bad games as well. He is what he is. I just dont get the absolute hatred.
by CommunistKevin on Dec 5, 2011 11:14 AM EST up reply actions
Big problem?
Rex is Rex. You know what you’re going to get from him. More often than not he’s good for two turnovers a game. That’s his nine year career. You’re not going to win games by giving the ball away twice a game. That’s two less opportunities a game less you have to get some points. Additionally it puts pressure on the defense because it puts them back on the field right away. It’s demoralizing. Trying to complete a pass is one thing. Throwing into triple coverage on Moss the way he did two weeks ago is just stupidity.
Yeah I was one of those who wanted to see Beck in the game. Not because I thought he was better than Rex…it was possible…but he couldn’t be any worse. Turns out he was. Well you don’t know until you try. He certainly looked better in preseason. I personally don’t want to see either one of them here next training camp.

precisely Dudley
I have posted this before but what are generally the most important stats in a game? I personally say (as well as a lot of people) that 3rd down eff., TOP, and TURNOVERS are the most important.
As Dudley said, if some asshole is giving the ball away twice a game on avg then it is going to be extremely hard to win games….and that is why Rex gets the shit he does. Driving the ball down the field 60-80 yards means dick if you turn it over in the red zone.

If you think passprotectio sucks now , these last 4 games ought to be entertaining without Williams , and Davis !
WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING . My mind is made up ! Let Davis go to free agency , and read the riot act to Trent . Remind him of what happened to Ricky Williams .
Let our best receiver go to free agency?
lol
Tell him to lay off the weed and move on.
whats laughable is if we sign him to a 6 year deal and he misses a whole season cuz he can't lay of the spinach
by davetrembling on Dec 4, 2011 7:28 PM EST up reply actions
isn’t this his first drug suspension? a little harsh for someone’s first offense especially when he probably was getting high when the season was in doubt.
Akili Smith will have a better pro career than Landry Jones
1 of the offenses went without punishment because it was during the lock out.
Next offense is a season suspension
Do you think that Williams should lose the "C" on his jersey?
He certainly has not earned it as far as I am concerned. To let him keep it after a drug suspension sends the wrong message to the team.
I will be very interested to see how Shanahan handles this.

Dude you need to go smoke some of what Sleepy's got
You don’t get rid of Davis because of weed. You sit him down and give him a talking to. He is our best weapon on offense and an up and coming star in the league. He’s also a stupid kid.
Shut up DHall.
so if he gets another suspension?
he could be out for a whole year
by davetrembling on Dec 4, 2011 7:24 PM EST up reply actions
Meh, there's risk in any business investment
You hope the guy has learned. Your point 5 directly contradicts the cut Davis point. We do have too many holes. That’s why you can’t get rid of the good young talent. If Sleepy gets suspended for a year then you look at what to do. But with where this team is right now we don’t have certain luxuries.
Shut up DHall.

This post cracks me up
Listen we all know Rex is not the future here and not some great qb. I am the biggest Rex fan on this entire website probably. But what is with the obsession with making fun of him? We will draft a qb and have a new guy. He is the best qb on our team by a wide margin and will play out the year. He has good games and he has terrible ones. He is not the worst qb in the league and it is pointless to continuously talk about him. I mean I could really go on a long rant and make fun of the obsessive Rex haters but it has already been done. Btw the strip sack happens. And it was his first since the first dallas game. But it is besides the point. Rex was bad today and the redskins made lots of other mistakes. But what do you want to do at this point? After every good game Rex has I don’t come on here to make 300 fan posts telling how awesome he actually is
Yeah I am about done with this as well
b/c it doesn’t matter. The Rexettes defend an indefensible situation. I won’t be convinced that he (Grossman) is even that stopgap guy, and when I think he is about to prove me wrong….he does it again.
The only arguments you will hear are “Hey at least he is better than Beck!”, which is not a valid defense and “it’s not all his fault” which is true except he reminds me of that guy (we all know one of these, and if you don’t then you are him) where even though some things are not his fault, shitty things just seem to happen around him.
So it inevitably doesn’t matter. I cannot be convinced Grossman will be a valid stopgap as stopgaps need to be somewhat consistent (which Rex will never be) and Rex-lovers will still insist that any condemnation of Rex is love in disguise for Beck.

This is why the trade deadline should be extended,
Then my Pats could get some nice draft picks in exchange for Brian Hoyer and/or Ryan Mallett.
Redskins, Bears, Chiefs, Texans… injuries happen and the trade deadline as it stands now has left some teams in a bad situation.
P.S., how do you guys feel about Andre Carter making his return to D.C. next week?
It is what it is
Who cares. He will have very little impact.
They have both the unstoppable force (Tom Brady) and the immovable object (Wes Welker). The defense will have it’s hands full, which is sad because they always do and mostly because of Rex giving the other team the ball at least twice a game. Beating the Patriots is task enough without knowing that Rex will feed them the ball. Andre Carter is a non-issue simply because Rex will keep him off the field with his turn overs.
Redskins @RGIII - 2012
We may have won yesterday with RG3 or Barkley under center.
There were plenty of plays to be made that he just whiffed and of course there were all his negative plays. Sure the line needs to get much better, but a legit qb can make do with the kind of protecion Rex had yesterday.
He just sucks and it’s a real problem that he’s bff with Kyle because he’ll be out of the league next year unless Kyle wants him back.
Could have won yesterday with JC under center

He won't be out of the league
If you think he will not be in league you are crazy. Listen he is not a good qb, but he belongs in the league as a backup. Also i have no problem if you do not want him back, but why actual hatred for him he is a good guy and teammate.
by CommunistKevin on Dec 5, 2011 11:06 AM EST up reply actions
we're the only team that talked to him last offseason.
He had exactly one offer, from us at the vet minimum. I wouldnt assume he’ll be in the league next year.
I think
part of that is he was obviously coming back here. I find it almost impossible that he will be out of the league next year.
