Redskins Players List of Community Service is Long & Impressive
Community service is something we all should be doing but rarely make time to. Certainly, coaches and fans value players that give back to the community, and the Redskins organization has always been a strong franchise in this department (even with the losing seasons). With it being the holiday season, here's a list of all the Redskins players and all the charity work/foundations they work with. Special thanks to Matt Terl in helping fill in some of the holes with this list.
2011 Christmas Season:
Don's Wood Fire Pizza - Pizza place served free food and drinks to raise money for Africa Missions. To help serve food was Lorenzo Alexander, Logan Paulsen, Graham Gano, Kedric Golston, Rocky McIntosh, and Roy Helu.
Darrell Green's annual "Christmas with the Redskins." - At this particular event, the players and other various members of the organization are given a name and picture of their appointed child, and they go out and buy that child shoes, clothes, and a unique gift. Whole team.
Coat Drive - The Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins players Oshiomogho Atogwe, David Anderson, Terrence Austin, Brandon Banks, DeJon Gomes, Sean Locklear, Darrion Scott, Donte' Stallworth, Josh Wilson, Dough Worthington, Logan Paulsen and Travon Bellamy went to the Macy's in downtown D.C. to hand out winter clothes to 300 underserved children from the greater metro area.
"Skins Santa Shoppe" at FedExField - The event is held in the locker room, and 1,100 area school children get to walk through with their favorite Redskins player and pick out their favorite toy for the holidays. The toys are supplied by the Redskins in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps and the Touchdown for Tots toy drive. Redskins players include Oshiomogho Atogwe, Brandon Banks, Travon Bellamy, Chris Chester, Reed Doughty, Chris Neild, Cole Pemberton, Markus White, Erik Cook, Nick Sundberg, Ryan Kerrigan, Darrel Young, Rob Jackson.

He's dreamy!
Seriously though, It’s nice to have a post looking at the Redskins giving back to the community.
@Callahan_9 on the twitter machine.
yea, it's an amazing name for a foundation. Reminds me of this....

What is this? A school for ants?!
How are they supposed to learn how to read if they can’t even fit inside the building?!

You know we lose everytime I write one?
We won when you picked it up.
Will you make it a Festivus miracle?

Somehow
I doubt that your column is controlling the outcome of the game. I could be wrong here. Perhaps if you were related to Tim Tebow in some way, but otherwise, no.

What other powers do you have?
How can we take advantage of your situation? We’ll have to come up with a costume and a secret identity.

Don't forget, he'll need a hate signal too
Kind of like a bat signal, only giving the middle finger.
Maybe if you did it & had us losing......
I’m sure that it would be physically impossible for you to write it but maybe that is the answer
I got a lot of problems with you people and you're gonna hear about um...
You, ih8. Parks tells me your predictions stinks! You couldn’t smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe…I lost my train of thought.
I should do more community service
I used to do quite a bit, and it really is enjoyable. If you haven’t gone, find something you might enjoy and try it.
When I was at DU, they had a requirement of one day of community service before graduation. I thought it was silly, as one day didn’t seem like enough. Boy was I wrong. A lot of people came back with very different outlooks. One woman volunteered at the homeless shelter downtown. Before she went, she assumed “that all homeless people were lazy and were homeless because it was their choice”. Needless to say, actually meeting some homeless people disabused her of that idea.

agree
Ive tried doing some habitat for humanity but it turns out being 4 volunteers trying to share 1 hammer. At one site we were digging holes to plant trees. There was 30 people and 4 shovels. The ground was hard as cement and this girl could not make a dent. When I took over and made progress she complained I was hogging the shovel and I had to give it back. She tried digging the next 15 minutes with no progress. It’s not easy finding programs where you can work hard and make a difference.

Habitat can get swamped because they are so well known
Places like APO organize lots of volunteer events. www.apo.org. When I was in college, they had something going on every weekend, and often on weeknights. They did all kinds of things, like working at a local church to make sack lunches then distribute them to kids in the summer who normally got a free lunch at school.

I've done a bunch of different stuff
The child mentoring programs are probably the most fun and most rewarding to be a part of. I worked through an elementary school with a couple of friends and we would just hang out with the kids after school. Some of them did not really want to go home. So we would help them do their home work, then go outside or to the gym and play some basketball for awhile. Really all there was to it. Suddenly kids that were getting terrible grades were straight A students. I wish I still had time to work with programs like that. Highly recommended.

I have a friend that does that
with his wife. Great program, the kids really get a lot out of it.

I did community service
Once here, and once overseas. Stuffing envelopes for the city of Rockville wasn’t much fun, but it got me my shoelaces back. On the other hand, when I was in Panama, we had to clear some trees in the forest to help build a school. Blowing shit up with Navy Seals and EOD is always a blast, good cause or not. I keep looking for similar projects around here, but can’t find any.
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
I buy girl scout cookies every year
does that count for anything?

Kindness of their hearts or tax breaks?
I wonder….
I’m always weary of self-named foundations like The Santana Moss Foundation. The Kenyon Fox Foundation, The DeAngelo foundation….What exactly are those foundations?
i felt bad thinking of the same question
its that time of year i want to believe its from the kidness of their hearts :)
