My Predicted Redskins Starting 2012 Offense
Halfback: Roy Helu
Fullback: Darrel Young
Left tackle: Trent Williams
Left guard: Kory Lichtensteiger
Center: Will Montgomery
Right guard: Maurice Hurt
Right tackle: Willie Smith
Tight end: Chris Cooley
Wide receiver: Santana Moss, Jabar Gaffney
I think Shanahan has found some good young offensive linemen in Hurt and Smith. With a good offseason those two could be very good. I know a lot of people will want Fred Davis instead of Chris Cooley, but the fact of the matter is that Davis is no where NEAR the blocker Cooley is. Though CC and Davis will probably split the starting job throughout the season. I put RGIII as our starting QB, but Rex may be the starter come day one. I just think he loses that job after week four or five, and RGIII starts the rest of the season. Roy Helu and Darrel Young are pretty self explanatory. I really wanted to put Hankerson as one of the two starting wide receivers, but Santana is and always has been our number one guy, and after the season Jabar's had, it's hard to keep him out of the top two. Hank will probably be our number three guy.
Thoughts?

One point
IDK if we’d be good, but we’d win more games with this lineup, than if Rex were the starting QB

We can't go into 2012 with the same WRs corps.
If Redskins took Blackimon, I think people would be happy.

I think we'll go after Bowe too
or VJax. Remember Shanny wanted Jackson a lot last year. And he’s seen Bowe and Jackson a lot from his Denver days. The recieving corps in FA looks to be stacked.

Blackmon is a first rounder
If we got Blackmon, then who’d play QB? Tannehill? Foles? Weeden? I’d rather us grab Reuben Randle in the third or something like that. I’m sure Austin, Hank, Paul, Armstrong, and Robinson are itching for a starting job.

who cares we'd have Blackmon
He gives qbs a 2 car garage target.

but won't Blackmon go in the 1st round
and that means not drafting a QB. We need a QB muh more than we need a WR.

If Griffin saw that offensive line he might quit football and go to the Olympics
Hurt and Smith aren’t close to starting material right now.

He could do that anyways
I wish he had time for both, I really respect the guys who go out for the USA

no i agree
i’m just saying that this line is pretty bad
Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com
I for one
may agree with you. I do think Smith can play RT, IF, and only IF we get a stud guard, and a good C.
I know you will hate this, but say if we looked like this:
TW
Chester/Licht
Molk/Jones
Nicks
Smith
I think this could work.
Crying Lion
Smith just isn't ready
and that isn’t near the upgrade that we need on the line.
Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com
Neither are a lot of linemen who get thrown into starting roles as rookies
Carpenter is a great example of this. Are the Seahawks giving up on him? No.
Crying Lion
Not sold on Nicks unless we get Luck at qb I would rather keep top my principles of drafting players not buying them

so you'd rather we give that money to Monty, and Licht? instead of actual players?
Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com
I would rather spend it on signing draft picks and extending our own players
I dont think we have tons of cap room, if we HAD to spend it I would prefer we sign the best players possible not Monty or Licht
by alwaysremember21 on Dec 23, 2011 7:33 PM EST up reply actions
I agree im just saying I dont think we HAVE to sign out a bunch of contracts to meet the salary minimums
Im not sure I want to pay Fitz money to Dwayne Bowe or something crazy like that
by alwaysremember21 on Dec 26, 2011 1:02 PM EST up reply actions
Considering we have to use that money
I’d rather use it on a good player, than overpay a bunch of average guys.
In the 4 seasons where he’s been healthy, he averaged 75 receptions for over 1000 yards, and 8 TD’s. I think we could use his talent.
Crying Lion
I like Bowe a lot, he helped bring home my fantasy title
but Im not looking forward to paying him ridiculous amounts of money. Hes good but he isnt as good as what we would end up having to give him
by alwaysremember21 on Dec 27, 2011 12:48 AM EST up reply actions
He's a top 10 talent in the league
When is the last time we can say we had a top 10 WR?……………..prob back to the Art Monk days.
Crying Lion
here is how I would rate em'
A Johnson
Fitz
C Johnson
Jennings
White
Bowe
Marshall
Nicks
Wallace/Wayne/Jackson
Crying Lion
that is a good list...
my only exception is, I have VJax @ #5, behind Jennings, due to his physicality, he goes and gets the ball.
We need linemen
I love the grit that Hurt and Smith have shown and they provide great depth but they are not starters yet.

Yes, my thoughts are a 6-10 season
When I was a kid, my father told me, "Never hit anyone in anger, unless you're absolutely sure you can get away with it." -Russell Ziskey
We ain't getting RGIII
The cost to move up is too high and we have too many holes to fill. If we got Blackmon in round 1 that would be huge- even if Rexy is our starting QB for the first game next year. I could live with that if we pick Foles/Tannehill/Weeden in a good spot.
Off topic, how many picks do we have in the next draft? I know we have an extra 4th from the Jason Campbell deal…
yep, the only question is if we owe that conditional pick to the Cards for Hightower
not sure yet what the condition is and if he reached it.

by Steve Shoup on Dec 22, 2011 11:23 PM EST up reply actions
I doubt we owe anything to the Cards
Timmay probably reach any of the marks to get them the pick.

i would think not, but it could have been as simple as him making the roster
right now I’m assuming it is a no though
Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com
by Steve Shoup on Dec 23, 2011 11:45 AM EST up reply actions
the fact we would have given a pick for him is ridiculous
by alwaysremember21 on Dec 23, 2011 12:29 PM EST up reply actions
Why couldn't we just sit tight(if we are between 6-10)
and still get Griffin? I do not think Holmgren will pull the trigger this year on a QB, instead choosing to use all the picks(and maybe even trade back for more) to fill in all the gaps. That leaves us and the Phins. Griffin could be there for us, if not, we get Jones.
Crying Lion
seahawks and chiefs could also be looking to trade up for a QB
and Jones is not an option for the Skins even if he does come out which I say is highly unlikely
Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com
I love how your so definitive about Jones not being an option
Since when did you assume the totle HC?
What if I said Tannehill isn’t an option for the Redskins?
Crying Lion
That works.
If we get Blackmon, a QB like Foles/Tannehill/Weeden (picked at the right slot), end up with 7 (or more) picks…sweet.
Haha
What happened to Chester? I doubt they jettison hiafter one season. I mean, they RESIGNED Jammy after one season.
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
How many times....
…have we seen Will Montgomery get owned by opposition DT’s this season? More than I’d like to count. Not good enough to start. That entire interior line is pretty feeble to be honest. Can’t rely completely on existing players getting better

Wr is going to be an interesting position
Gaffney almost put up a 1000 yard season and Moss is still are best guy no doubt, Hankerson still has alot to prove but showed flashes, stallworth played lights out toward the end, we still dont know what we have with niles paul and aldrick yet, and we still got terrence austin and armstrong. Maybe shanahan built up the value on a gaffney to trade him for an extra 5th round pick……or maybe not. Either way its going to be one heck of a competition amongst our wideouts and I still think we need a vincent jackson type of receiver whether through the draft or getting vincent jackson himself…..phillip rivers does not know what he has in v jax…..dude is open every play and a guy like grossman would probably chuck it to him on every single play giving him and v jax career numbers.

I think Shanny adds a starting WR and RT in FA though
There are too many variables drafting RGIII, but I wouldn’t be opposed to having him. I, too like the continuity in the OL. I think Shanny adds a starting WR and RT in FA though.
