Wow

What a great young man Roy Helu is. He plays his tail off, says all the right things, and is clearly the future at the position for the Redskins. He is a prime example of what a dynamic, game -changing type of back can do for this offense……………………………………..now if we only had a QB

Are you kidding...we have a QB with a passer rating of 158.3!!!

AND he returns kicks! If only we could do the fake reverse pass every play

I read a few years ago the three whitest teams in the league are:

Patriots
Packers
Colts

So you are saying that because an area is predominately white,

The FO must draft and sign white players for marketability?

Terrible argument.

by mbedner on Dec 14, 2011 9:55 AM EST up reply actions

The argument that any of these teams are racist is stupid.

Ever notice how we have a bunch of players from Maryland and Virginia on our teams? Do you think it’s a coincidence that a good amount of local guys end up on the team?

You don’t think a franchise in the Mid-West especially Indiana and Wisconsin is more apt to get players from the Big 10 and MAC? or players from the Mid-West in general?

That arguement still makes little sense to me. Why aren’t the miami Dolphins predominately hispanic? Miami has a large cuban-american population. Just because an area has a higher percentage of one ethnicity, doesn’t mean that team will have a similar ratio. Outside of NY and Detroit, no team should have fewer than 50% white people based on that argument.

by mbedner on Dec 14, 2011 10:08 AM EST up reply actions

I don't think it has much it has much to do with markets

but using the hispanic argument makes zero sense, there aren’t a lot of hispanic college football or nfl players so how could they even attempt such a move.

When you watch college football which region of the college has more white players?

A) Northeast (ACC, Big East)
B) South (SEC, Big12, ACC)
C) Mid-West (Big 10, MAC)
D) West (Pac 12)

Your Miami argument is dumb b/c there isn’t a large population hispanics playing football in general.

I'm surprised Keim wasn't tougher on Willie Smith

He(Keim), said some pretty good things about the rookie, eventhough he had him in the Dud catagory. Sure look like Keim believes in Willie, and expects bigger things from him going forward. I wonder if he feels he could be a replacement for Brown next season.

I think Theismann might have squashed the Manning stuff...

I know Snyder isn’t the guy makig personnel decisions, but with JT calling it ridiculous for the Skins to bring him in, and then use Sanders, Smith and Archeleta as examples will most definitely deter Danny from even mentioning it to Bruce in the hallway at Redskins Park

by ptowny on Dec 14, 2011 7:45 AM EST reply actions

There never was any Manning stuff

This is just another example of lazy reporting and broadcasting from ESPN. Anytime there is a big monied player potentially on the market they “hear rumblings that Washington is interested”. There has been no indication from Mike, Bruce or Dan that they are interested in Manning. Peyton is not even on the market so all this “Manning stuff” is just a bunch of hot air. He is not nor will he ever play for the Washington Redskins.

the one thing that scares me about a QB is this

Rex Grossman had a great game Sunday. He had 1 int (the moss one isn’t on him at all don’t care how you spin it) and he had a qb rating of over 100 before that. Even if we do get Luck and he plays to that level everyweek, look what happened to Grossman. He played lights out and still lost. Whos to say that the rookie wont? And more than likely the rookie will play like a rookie.

by jbh1190 on Dec 14, 2011 8:56 AM EST reply actions

Yep

Grossman will be back next year and more than likely Grossman will beat out a rookie for the week 1 opener. Now he will be on a very short leash when the guy behind him is not named John Beck but i think the Redskin fan base needs to come to grips with Rex starting week 1 of the 2012 season.

Jarvis isn't a real nose either

We have a lot of really good 3-4 defensive ends on the team. I like Bowen and Cofield a lot but neither of those guys can get a real push up the middle. This is why Kerrigan and Orakpo don’t have more sacks than they do. They have to go around the tackles and then into the pocket. When is the last time we’ve seen the QB flushed from the pocket by the nose and into the arms of our outside LB? I don’t remember it all year and that’s sad.

We need another big play WR

maybe FA (I’d rather draft him though). TE we are set at, i agree. Same with RB. everywhere else, we are pretty thin… Especially the Oline

by mbedner on Dec 14, 2011 9:32 AM EST up reply actions

We're a draft away from being a mediocre team (maybe even above average)

The draft after that, we should be contenders (assuming our Qb develops well and quickly). There is a ton of promise with this team, I just don’t want to put the cart before the horse.

by mbedner on Dec 14, 2011 9:34 AM EST up reply actions

Niles Paul seems to be coming along slower than I would have expected

He is rarely used in the passing game… kinda only used as a blocker on running plays.

I would have assumed he’d have more catches at this point.

by mbedner on Dec 14, 2011 9:36 AM EST up reply actions

we have Roy Helu at running back and that's it

I like Royster, but he’s no better than a 3rd or 4th back.

Oh bull

Injuries devastated our offense this year. I honestly think based on the way we played we would have been 7-6 or maybe even 8-5 right now if we hadn’t been so injury beset this year.

no way, even with the easiest schedule in the league we wouldn't be that good

you can’t just cite single plays and think “well if Moss, Cooley, Licht and Trent were there”, because in some of those games if we made the game closer earlier, those teams wouldn’t be in prevent late allowing us cheap yards and points. Overall we just don’t have the talent if we are fully healthy, and no team is ever ‘fully healthy’ so some of those injuries would have occurred.

We are not getting Luck.

And when the rookie starts depends on the rookie i suppose. Could be very early and it could be only after Rex throws 4 picks

UVA and Virginia Tech students have a lot in common. We were all accepted to Virginia Tech.

by Jeff Bernard on Dec 14, 2011 9:22 AM EST up reply actions

I think that stems from a total lack of leadership on the team

Other than London who are the leaders on the team? A lack of leadership is the only thing i can think of to explain why we are competitive against good teams and constantly lose to the leagues worst teams. When MeAngelo Hall is a captain on the team i think that is a major problem.

Hey if you had let the Giants win in week 1 they’d be in a position to return the favor but nooooo, Grossman had to do his Joe Montana impression … I really thought after that game we were going to be looking at a long, bad season.

Anyway I’m looking forward to “Ask a Redskins fan” over at our site. Have a great week fellas — except on Sunday!

Meanwhile Cursing Green Nation is pondering how deep into the playoffs they will make it after the Giants and Cowboys finish 0-3 and 1-2 while Filthydelphia wins out…
