Going into the season I said the strength of the Redskins had to be in the running game. I thought that we had three potential highly productive running backs. I think Trent Williams is a better run blocker than pass blocker. So naturally on reason I thought the Skins might have a playoff team was that they could dominate running the football. I thought the redskins could win on the formula of ball control and good defense
The Redskins are 28th in the league in rushing. What is ever worst is that they have only 4 rushing touchdowns on the year. This is the biggest reason for the Redskins struggles in the redzone. I blame some of this on Kyle Shahan because an eight year old kid playing Madden could call a better game. Mostly I blame both Shanahans for bringing their outdated zone blocking scheme. There is too much speed at the LB and DE positions now for O line man to run to second level and try to block the likes of a Patrick Willis. The Buffalo Bills have a bunch of 330 lb no name beefy offensive line. They absolutely dominated the Redskins. Ironically Chad Reindhart was their starting LG.
Whenever the Redskins of the Snyder era have ever had success they have had a dominate running game. (Stephen Davis, Clinton Portis before all the injuries) So why does Kyle keep calling tosses for Ryan Torrain when he is a north and south runner. I don't know this regime is feeling equally as incompetent as it did under Zorn and the Bing caller or with Steve Spurrier with Skip Hicks and Danny Worthless.
i never thought I would be saying this but, please Daniel Synder get rid of these clowns. Please people stop saying the Shannahan and Allen regime. It is not. Allen is nothing more than someone who crunches the salary cap and is a puppet who uses his daddy's name to bring back Redskins alumni. Mike Shanahan is looking more and more like he rode John Elway to two Super Bowls. Remember why he was fired as the Broncos Head Coach. He needed to win 1 of the final 3 games to make the playoffs. Not to mention he constantly lies and is always covering for his son. How could he say after the Buffalo game that he was going to be consulting with Haslett about the defense when the offense was shutout by one of the worst defenses in the whole league. The reason is clear because their is a conflict of interest with his son being the OC.
How can Mike say that Beck needs better talent around him. Word to Mike Shanahan you evaluated and picked the talent. So what you are actually saying is that you don't know how to evaluate talent. Because if you did you wouldn't lock up Jamal Brown for 5 years.
Also I think the Skins should go back to the 4-3. Orakpo and Kerrigan are naturally 4-3 DE. Both are not very good in pass coverage. The whole point of going to the 3-4 was to create turnovers right? The Redskins aren't creating any more turnovers this year than they did in the 4-3. When they were in the 4-3 they were a top 10 and most of the time a top 5 defense.
Man I feel better now...
