Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Doom and Gloom

As painful as the last few weeks have been for us Skins fans, I'd like to point out a few things I'm excited not pissed off about.

Hankerson gets the Start! yeah yeah he probably wouldn't be if it weren't for Santana's injury. But common I know everyone was stoked when he caught that 2 point conversion. I'm not drinking the koolaid, I know it's gonna be a long and brutal finish to this years season, but every few weeks when we fall ass backwards into the redzone, I'll be cheering for a fade route to Hank the Tank.
Oh and one more thing, I dunno if it was just my tv malfunctioning but it looked as if Hankerson actually had some seperation on a few routes, Devin Thomas told me that Rookies weren't allowed to get seperation or run correct routes...

Checking up on the Check Down. John Beck... Damn you and your fantastic interviewing skills. I'm not saying Beck is good  decent better than Rex. But from 10 sacks last week to 1 this week, is that progression? No, I guess  not really, But! if he can keep the sack numbers down and lower the check downs from 14 to say somewhere around 7-8 this next week, I'd call that progression.

This is a rebuild, plain and simple, the first two picks of the draft last year were used on defense, the first two this year better be used on Offense. I hope we see Hankerson keep developing cause I would love to go 1st qb 2nd Gaurd.

Sounds like a can't miss

what about trade back in the 1st second and third and just get the remainint 22 qb’s on the board

hmmm that brings something interesting to mind.

If we could give up all of this years draft for luck would you? Its not really mortgaging the future…do a Ditka?

Not all of this years draft, no.

We are in the critical stages of the rebuild. While I think it is necessary to get a QB (maybe even trade up for Luck) you can’t just exclude every other glaring need on the offense for a year. Obviously, we’d be going crazy in FA, but there aren’t enough available Oline talent for us – which we need desperately!

I’m for trading up for Luck* If they think he is the only capable player, but we can’t do it by trading away one whole draft.

*depending on our draft position and the cost (obviously)

I'd rather give up 1 whole draft than a few years of 1st round picks

If we are sitting between 5-7 this year

and Indy is #1, I’d give the following for Luck:
2012:
1st
2nd
4th

2013:
1st
3rd

I'm beginning to think more and more the Colts are leaning towards not taking luck.

The owner said, its time to start building for somebody whos not peyton manning we need a totally different team (lots of players) sounds like they might try to put the pick up for bids. Also by doing that you could bring in talent around peyton and go for a win now in the next 2 years.

If that's all it took I would be okay with it

But you have about half of the needed picks in there to make the deal work

Cut Brandon "Stabby" Banks. That is all.

From 5 to 1?

I’m not sure, that could probably do the deal.

But I’d rather give up the 2012 #1 and #3 for two years than the loss of the #2 on top of the #1. That would mean we would have to do some other trading to get a #2, where we could still pick up quality OLine help.

ID LOVE TO SEE

Us somehow make a trade up for ANDREW LUCK , i know we would have to give up alot of drafts but i think he would really be worth it in the long run . Iseen barkly play this weekend for USC and he had flashes of being good but i dont think he would fit in our offense . Barkley is not nearly as good as weeden or jones , and luck .If we do pick a good QB we better pick luck prefer but if not luck then id go with jones or weeden . Its a darn shame we didnt get andy dalton last year he would have been a good QB for us. But as long as we get 1 of the 3 QBs i think EVERYONE will see we will start winning some games finially . Ithink we could have a good chance next year at going 8-8 if not better providing we get a good QB .

Indy is the most likely trade partner for Luck

as I believe they are posturing somewhat to see if theu can get someone to take the bait, and move up for Luck’s services. Make no doubt about it; Manning is not done in Indy. Luck is not the type of QB to sit for 3 years; he’s ready now. Indy has a lot of holes on their team, and extra draft picks could secure their future for a long time.

Miami is the team who wants Luck, come hell or high water. If Miami is sitting behind the Colts and Redskins, look for them to make a big move.

The Colts are not taking Luck………..he’s trade bait to the higest bidder.

I AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT

But would you take him or let miami have him . I would like to trade up for him because i do think he is that good . Luck is way better than sam bradford i think . Iknow we might have to give up a few extra draft picks but i think we are just a few players away from being a contender 2 and QB is the biggest missing piece i think . Everything has to do with a good QB and thats why i say we try and get luck anyway we can . We will not regret getting him if we move up to get him . Its better than waiting another 20 years of losing , i say pull the trigger and get him while we can if we are in the top 5.

by washingtonwin on Nov 7, 2011 10:34 AM EST up reply actions

If that deal can get it done

than hell yeah, but if not, let Miami have him, and we can target Jones.

If I had it my way, I’d rather sit where we are, give up nothing, and draft Jones, opposed to moving up for Luck, but we are going to have to see how the chips fall at season’s end to see what the most likely scenerio would be.

For instance, if we are picking #5, and Miami, Indy, Rams and Jags are in front of us, I feel confident we can sit tight and draft Jones.

say we're sitting at 3...

luck goes 1
kalil goes 2

jones on the board….

what if we got offered a 2012 1st and 2nd and a 2013 1st and 2nd to move back to pick 8?

by ptowny on Nov 7, 2011 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

I would in a second

even though i’m on the qb train this year, thats a ton of value right there

by skinsfan28 on Nov 7, 2011 2:48 PM EST up reply actions

I agree 100%

by 64ShagginWagon on Nov 7, 2011 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

IDK

That would be a tough one. I really like Jones, and believe he could come in from day one and make a difference. He’s also the type of QB you hitch you wagon to for the next 15 years. I’m not comfortable with Barkley. It would reallyu depend on if RG3 came out, and the prospects of Foles at the time of the draft.

I would not be happy targeting Tannehill, Weeden of Lindley, so my hope would hinge on one other guy.

Truthfully, if Griffin were not in the draft, I’d probably draft Jones at 3. Don’t forget, any other year besides this one, he’s be the #1 QB by a wide margin.

Get luck

I’m with getting luck and fixing the Oline through FA. sounds crazy i know, but i can’t take this year in and year out. With a decent QB with time to throw, maybe our current recievers could actually do something!

by alleykatt1000 on Nov 7, 2011 1:59 PM EST reply actions

Luck may be best, but Barkley, Jones or Griffith, or several others

could be almost as good. And we keep our draft picks. This is a tough league, and picking QBs is not an exact science. I think I’d just take the best available QB, as long as the coaches liked him and thought he had the potential to be a top NFL QB.

Do yall remember at this point last year....

Cam Newton was the 12th rated QB in college.

Things could change

by ptowny on Nov 7, 2011 2:31 PM EST reply actions

great point

we need to draft a QB but shouldn’t the professional scouts be able to find somebody like Dalton so we don’t have to trade away so many draft picks? It’s not like we don’t have other holes to fill.

by aFan4Life on Nov 8, 2011 8:26 AM EST up reply actions

The draft should go:

1- QB
2- RT
The rest of the draft should go best Player Available G/ C/ ILB/ CB/DL

by jeffco01 on Nov 7, 2011 3:41 PM EST reply actions

to be honest

i would take LT in the first and best available QB in the 2nd…….move trent to the right

by back_to_the_future on Nov 7, 2011 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

I think it's too early to give up on Trent. He was raw coming into the NFL.

But either way, I’d be happy with a drafted OT

And what happens

If the LT you pick is WORSE than Trent? Then you’re stuck with two high drafted OT’s, still no answer at quarterback, and a lot more people laughing at you around the league.

Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
