More speculation of Peyton Manning possibly landing in Washington
Assuming the colts get the 1st pick they will have to cut Peyton Manning because:
A. He is do 28 mill before the season starts
B. They could not afford manning and luck
C. They will not trade him with that $ amount and he will be reluctance to Re-Do his deal when a potential team will be traded 2 1st round picks which could go to help his new team. Word on the street is Dan Snyder is licking his chops.
I understand the redskins reputation for going after big names, but this one I can't possibly see how they could mess up IF MANNING IS HEALTHY. I'm am also hearing Shanahan will either be removed for a coach manning wants or will have to cater to manning.
Thoughts? Do you see this as a real possibility? I'm all in, when you have a chance to get manning without sacrificing draft picks. Take a QB in the later round or get a guy like Matt Flynn and let him hold the clipboard for 2 or 3 years. Manning when utilize our talent and we can add a serious weapon in the draft. Manning himself will vastly improve the O-Line by getting guys in the right position and he will not miss a wide open anothny armstrong.
BTW A few weeks ago when the Skins were 3 and 1. I told you guys the redskins were frauds and Mike Shanahan is a incompetent douche bag and you guys called me a troll and eagle fan.. I guess the skins kool aid train cooled down a bit by now?

Without a doubt mike shanahan has failed, and I’m not sure hes so safe. His in a awkward position as he is probably unsure if he should be trying to win to save his job or lose to get his future QB.
When Bruce Allen fired Jim Zorn he said finishing last in the NFC East 2 years in a row was unacceptable (look up the quote). Well guess what shanahans on pace to do? Not only finish 4th twice in row but also with a WORST RECORD THAN ZORN!

You mad about Shanahan Bro?
Follow me on Twitter: @UkRedskin1 feel free to give suggestions on what you'd like to see broken down each week.
my first and last post in this thread
why do you guys placate this asshole? Just don’t post. Plus that whole U mad? thing is probably the dumbest internet sensation around. It’s not as funny as people make it out to be, it is just retarded
Just say NO! to Rex Grossman.
c-mon skins fans!!
I know things dont look good with Shanahan, but seriously. Before injuries started tearing this offense up,and no decent talent to plug in.Be honest ,did you think we were going in the right direction?Everyone new we were VERY weak at the most important position on offense, and last years draft Locker was the only QB wirth taking in the position we picked, and he was gone.Look at our trade downs and picks, very very good draft. This team has been a wreck for so many years, did you think he was going to turn it around in 1-2 years..I sure didnt.Harbaugh was hired to the 49ers and is doing an awesome job organizing a amazingly talented team…But the 49ers had top rated drafts for the last 10 years..Shanahan should be able to finish what he started!! A healthy Manning or an up and coming Luck, wed be winning the division and headed to the playoffs!!! Barkley wouldnt be a bad choice either,or a Manning signing and a Tannehill draft choice as a back-up to learn.Same thing was said about Haslett, people wanting his head, but the 3-4 defense has looked like the direction to go..A few more pieces on D,and we are a top 5 defense.
No Manning
why in the hell would we want that. He’s past his prime, and we are not one piece away from contending. It’s thought processes like this that always seem to get us into trouble.
Crying Lion
Apparently Peyton is worth about 9 wins per year himself
I think that gets us to the playoffs next year.
I think he's saying
That Manning is worth 9 wins alone, and you add that to the teams wins. Just by virtue of roster improvements, we should be at 9 or 10 wins next year ourselves. Let’s say 10. Now, add that to Peytons 9, and that means we win the SB. Hell, maybe he could even eek out another win or two by himself, now we’re banking wins for the following year. Let’s do it.
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
I don't want Manning.....
but if it were to happen….I would only be happy if we drafted a first round QB too! This is exactly what we have been doing for 2 decades that has left us in turmoil!!! The Chiefs got Montana….you saw how that worked out!!!
At least "WE ARE" not Penn State!!!
TRUE!
Manning healthy,he will be good 3 years .If we sign him,id look very hard at Kennum.I watched every top QB in college this year and he is the most impressive, (behind Luck of coarse)Id compare his talent to Farve.Gritty kid that can sling the ball.
Your loosing credibility
with every post you write…………………..Keenum? You’ve watched every top QB in college football this year, and you came away with Keenum? Come on man! Classic product of the system.
I’m sure you thought Colt Brennan was a sure-fire hall of famer too.
Crying Lion
dont give a shit about my credibility
I never thought Brennan was a franchise QB,but im sure all the post you make are top notch..lol..Just giving my opinion…..And if im not mistaken Gibbs done very well with older players..Keenum has all the tools, and can put the ball in a tight window with alotta zip.But im sure with all your expert scouting tiller 56,,you seen Tom Brady a mile away!!!
Uh, I dunno where you've been
.And if im not mistaken Gibbs done very well with older players.
But Joe Gibbs is no longer the coach of the Redskins.
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
Manning
So thats the talk?Manning in a redskin uniform? They,,being the skins, would have to match the offer that the colts have, and probully a 1 or 2 draft picks to boot.No such thing as a quick fix here.Look,Luck may go as a 1st round pick, but then you have Jones, that QB from baylor, theres a QB with the U of Houston too,Saw him yesterday, has a canon for a arm and a good head for the game, but yal would say,he plays in the usa conferance,no competition there. He could be a sleeper. Then, theres that QB with K SATE,BIG KID, a passer as well, hard to bring down.Look,we all know the skins need a QB,lets quit grasping at straws, dont forget that QB at USC too, plenty to choose from.We need O-line help too,Trent is great, but we need more like him too,to open up some lanes for helu, royester, toraine ,hightower to run threw too.
You still are
A douche bag Sheagle troll. 4-6 as a “super bowl contender”. Haha get the f*** outta here
What amazing research you have done
You “heard” some stuff? “Word on the street”? I can only imagine how quality those sources you found were.
Don't get Manning
I think Shanahan and Allen did a really good job drafting last year and I would like to see them continue that and keeping their draft picks. I’d rather the Skins gear up for the future as opposed to doing good for a season or 2….NO QUICK FIX PLZ
Your hearing stinks
What on earth makes you think:
(a) that Manning would want to come here?
(b) that we would want a 36 year old QB with three neck surgeries in the last two years with a $28 million/year contract?
© that Snyder, Shanahan, or Allen would want to mortgage the future with a QB in the twilight of his career?
(d) that the Colts would give up their franchise QB?
(e) that you can believe everything you read or “hear”?
no manning
being on here has gotten me to think better about the future of this team. i was with the quick fixes and had the……we gotta win now mentality. but i know now that we’ve tried that and it doesn’t work. we’ve been through too many years of doing things the wrong way, that’s it’s time to keep on the youth rebuilding path. i’d rather live and die with trying to do it the best way, than fail doing it the so called “easy way”
No no no no no no no
No getting a QB coming off a neck injury and who is on the deep downside of his career. Get your troll ass outta here.

He'll retire before he comes to DC... besides... a 36 y/o QB to add to our 30 y/o Backup QBs?
With that neck injury… 1st time Peyton gets sacked… he’ll be out for the season.
Manning
He wouldnt cost any pics, and im sure he wouldnt cost us as much as hes currently making.I’ll agree hes old and not as dominant, but he could throw with his left arm and our QB position would be upgraded.Things didnt work with McNabb ,ill agree, but he is no way comparable to Manning. What i am saying,is that if hes healthy,it wouldnt be a bad move.Draft a young ,quality,QB in the draft to learn behind one of the best all time. And if Manning doesnt work out,we are in the same situation as if we didnt sign him.Starting a rookie!!But if hes still got a couple years left, would instantly improve our offense.and by not throwing 4 int. every game improve our defense.
Painful to read, why did I do it?
Go back to school.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

You honestly believe the Colts are going to cut their future HOF and multi MVP quarterback that has been the face of the franchise and whom they just signed to a $90 million dollar contract and turn the franchise over to a rookie QB who has never thrown a pass in the NFL. And if they DID cut him by some stroke of imagination, you honestly think he’s going to come to a club with huge questions about its offensive line and sign a contract here for what…. $2-3 million? Are you delusional?
This thread is begging for a devil's advocate
PREFACE- if Manning is physically done, then we have nothing to talk about. He will retire and this is all pointless. There’s no point in us speculating about this on a forum. It’s up to the doctors. If Redskins personnel decide, based on the medical evidence, that Manning can still play, that’s good enough for me.
Otherwise, these are the facts-
1) When the Colts draft Luck, they will have about $120 million in guaranteed money locked into the quarterback position.
2) The colts are bottom 10 in cap space this year, and will be worse next year even before signing their top pick. Out of a $120 million cap number, they will have to commit between 25-30% to Manning and Luck. Freeney also has a $19 million cap number in 2012, but will probably restructure. The colts will have the most top-heavy cap in NFL history.
That is a ton of money, and too large a fraction of the Colts resources to work with. I hear a lot of people saying that the Colts won’t trade Manning. That is crazy. The colts won’t have much choice.
He won’t be as expensive as you think. Off season veteran QB trades do not net high draft picks. The colts will not be in a position to ask for the moon because their leverage is nonexistent and their suitors have alternatives with a deep QB draft class.
Now, for you guys saying that Manning won’t want to come here- every team that would trade for Manning is obviously in trouble. In DC, he would be playing for a well-established coach, behind an average-to-not-awful offensive line, and he would have Davis, Moss, and Hankerson to throw to. Browsing the other bottom-feeders with long-term quarterback needs, I don’t really see him finding a better situation.
So Manning will be traded and he would accept a trade to DC.
Now, the third argument I hear is that Manning is washed up, and that we need to build for the future. How long is the future, though? Manning threw for 4,700 yards last year. He’ll be 36 and one of the most durable players in NFL history. He has the 2nd longest streak of consecutive starts in NFL history. A lot of quarterbacks play into their late thirties, and rules protect modern quarterbacks from injury more now than ever. It is not ridiculous to think that Manning, if his neck is ok, could play for another couple of years.
As I write this, the Redskins look like they might beat the seahawks, putting themselves back on a pace for 5-6 wins. It is conceivable, though unlikely in my opinion, that the Redskins will find themselves in a very similar position to last year, without value at the QB position when their number comes up.
Here's where you're wrong
He won’t be as expensive as you think. Off season veteran QB trades do not net high draft picks. The colts will not be in a position to ask for the moon because their leverage is nonexistent and their suitors have alternatives with a deep QB draft class.

Off season vet QB’s do not net high draft picks…well what do you consider the 2nd and 4th we gave up fot McNabb? Is he on the level of Manning. Don’t think so.
Manning IS the offensive coordinator in Indy whether you believe it or not. He runs an offense built specifically for him. You think Kyle would let him do his thing or be second guessed by Manning every game?
so I guess it depends what you mean by high draft picks
I think that Manning will get a low 1st rounder at best or some package of similar value. In other words, a bit better than McNabb but we aren’t talking about mid-season Carson Palmer stuff.
To answer the second question, I think that Kyle would let him do his thing and be glad for it. The reason the Colts run the type of offense they do is because Manning makes such great reads at the line and can make a la carte play-calling pay off. A QB who can do that makes his OC look good. That can be integrated into any offense, right?

Manning
We don’t need him, damaged goods, price is not right. Draft a QB…..
Good god no.
We are REBUILDING.
NO MORE AGING QBs.

Your post is full of fallacies
The most important of which is:
B. They could not afford manning and luck
This is absolutely false. The new rookie pay scale makes it far more affordable to draft a QB at #1 overall. For comparison, Sam Bradford was the last #1 overall in the old system: the Rams owed him $48 million guaranteed. Under the new system, Cam Newton was owed $22 million by the Panthers, and Andrew Luck will be owed around $24 million.
While it would be expensive for the Colts to keep Manning and draft a QB at #1 overall, they COULD afford it and WOULD do it if they think Luck is the next great QB that will keep their dynasty alive for the next decade+
man
manning best qb in nfl (imo) no way we would have a looseing season with him playing all year (assuming he plays all year). but even if we got him the redskins should draft a qb and other needs lest be in the same spot as the colts. manning mght be able to help groom drafted qb. Only prob. shanny is very system 1st manning is very shut up imma do want i want and shanny wouldnt like that very much…
