Predictions: I've been on a good run with my predictions lately. I really don't know what to say for this game. My gut tells me John Beck gets his first win ever today. Skins win in a squeaker.
Ken's prediction:
Grossman gets the ball to Fred Davis early, and Roy Helu carries the load late to secure a victory. I think the Washington defense will shine brightly this week, reminding fans why they were so highly regarded in the early weeks of the season. Kerrigan gets a sack, one of the Terp corners gets a pick, and Gano heats up. This could be the last good game for us for a while...

Meh…you win some and you lose some….we won’t hold Mike Shanahan’s misjudgements (pulling the hook on Rex too soon and having to walk it back) against you.
And in the same vein…it is gut check time for the Skins.
I said it when it happened, that the hook was pulled on Grossman too soon. CJHutch can vouch for me when I say that.

Only concern is... does Rex incorporate Helu into his repertoir?
Helu came-to-life under Beck… hope we get to see more of that
Part of that was because Hightower was starting when Rex was QB
Helu did have something like 8 or 10 receiptions in his limited amount of time while Rex was starting. Rex also utilized Hightower a lot in checkdown situations, so I don’t think it will really matter.

- Perry Riley starts over Rocky McIntosh
- Atogwe is back
- Sean Locklear starts at RT (his better position), so no Jamaal Brown
- Roy Helu starting again at RB
I think Rex not only gives us a better chance to win, I think that he will give our younger offensive players a better chance to develop. I’m feeling like this may be a good game for us. We’ll struggle early as Rex regains his bearings, but I say Redskins 24, Dolphins 17.
Statline predictions.
Rex goes 20-34, 250 yards, 2 td, 1 int.
Helu gets 15 carries, 75 yards, 1 td, and catches 4 passes.
Hankerson goes for 5 catches, 65 yards, first NFL touchdown.
Perry Riley plays a solid game.
Redskins D gets 3 sacks, forces 2 turnovers.

Those personnel changes probably give us a better chance to win
..but I still think we find a way to hand this game to the Dolphins. Unfortunately I’m already in “might as well tank the rest of the season mode”. I don’t see the point in a few token wins in the second half of the season when it’s painfully obvious we can’t consider the play-offs.
Having said that, the Skins win today, just to spite me. 27-24 Skins
(promise I’ll keep my pessimism to myself during the game..)
no Jamaal Brown is probably the happiest I (and I"m sure Rex Grossman) has been this season

overall scheme of the offense, the OL (which results in bad pass plays, sacks and piss-poor running plays), the lack of explosive offensive players at WR and RB, aging defensive players and/or injuries to key defensive players.

I think people are starting to question exactly how good he really is....
last year he looked like Polamalu before he got hurt…. but he never put it together for extended periods.
plus he’s gotten burnt for soul-crushing TDs once every other game for the last 3 years.
and nowadays he doesn’t even tackle too well, either. I don’t know exactly what he is nowadays.

He’s never been that good. He wasn’t even all that good at LSU. But he was a perfect complement to Sean Taylor. When that didn’t work out (I hope they fry them all), Landry was left to be exposed for what he is.
It’s not his fault. He does need a big-time FS to play along side him though. Otherwise, he’s like Reed Doughty.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind thinks Rex is the future. However, he is a legitimate NFL QB preferably a back up but still an actual NFL QB. Beck is not.
