Robert Griffin III

I know we're in the middle of the season and looking ahead may upset some people. Then again, there's a reason why we have the "Players to Watch" posts and tabs are constantly kept by us on the top prospects in positions that we deem as needed commodities on this roster.

First and foremost I think we can all agree, is the Quarterback.

At 3-1, we're all feeling pretty good, we like our chances as the season goes on and some of us (I myself am starting to sip the kool-aid) believe we could make a "premature" playoff run. But nonetheless, I don't think we're confident enough to mention that Super Bowl thing or whatever it's called.

The reward for being an improved squad however is a lower draft pick, and with the potential QB class that we may see coming out this April, (Luck, Barkley, and Jones) some of us Skins fans can't but help but think that we're snake bitten. Of all the years some fans might have accepted a losing effort or deemed it okay to not make a run, this was it.

That brings me to the overall purpose behind this post. Baylor University's Robert Griffin III is already starting to creep up some draft boards. Maybe not into 1st round consideration, but definitely higher than where he was projected earlier in the year. Myself personally, I love watching the guy. He's in an offense that I wouldn't label as gimmicky, his yards come from plays down field, not dink and dunks, and he's butt accurate on top of having NFL size. The only things I don't like about Griffin MIGHT be that pistol they run, but if Cam Newton can make the transition, I think Griffin can. Oklahoma runs a similar offense to Baylor's and they just shell out QBs to the NFL every 4 years. The other thing that may be in question is Griffin's ability to stay healthy. I don't know if he's chronically injured, but he does have a hard time picking himself up after the whistle.

So here's my question to you all, if we are not in a position to get one of the top guys, who, not all of which may even come out, would you be able to spend a 2nd rounder on this guy with the expectations that he is our guy going forward?

I think this is a great topic for debate because some may believe he's not franchise starting material, others may think he's flying under they radar. So give me your take.
