List of Washington Redskins 2011 Draft Interests

Via Twitter and reports from all the media at the Senior Bowl (including some SB Nation writers), I've been able to piece together who the Redskins are talking to. I'll keep an up-to-date list all the way up to the draft. Two things of note: 1.) Surely, the Redskins have talked to more players we don't know about, 2.) I REALLY wish we had a 3rd round pick.

Click the header of a column to sort. Click the player's name to view their profile and level of Redskins interest.

As I mentioned before...

Anyone that wants to write a profile for the players that don’t have one yet, please FanPost it and I’ll front page it and link it here. Just follow the format from any of the others above.

If I have the right Michigan State LB in mind

I’ve heard that Greg Jones is a stud. They did a profile on him over at MTD, and I think it said he was one of the most pro-ready LBs in the draft.

Yes

he is awesome and would be a great replacement for Rocky. After Phil Taylor and barring a top QB slipping he’s right there with Wisniewski in my mind depending on our FA OL moves.

Von Miller

Will be gone by the time we pick. Also I hope we have nothing to do with Kaepernick.

I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

Anyone know much about Sherrod?

Be nice if he did slide to the 2nd round, and far enough down for the ‘skins to take him then. Also, if Greg Jones is all that, would it be worthwhile to trade our first round pick for another 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th next year for Haynesworth? Certainly he’d be worth 3 drat picks over two years. Make sense?

what you've just said... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

No, not really
would it be worthwhile to trade our first round pick for another 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th next year for Haynesworth?

Please break that sentence down into what you want to trade the 1st for, and what you want to recieve in return for Fat Al.

by CarverM on Jan 27, 2011 10:19 AM EST up reply actions

I’m not sure what can be gotten for Fat Al since other teams know that he won’t play here again. His on field value is likely higher than his trade value due to all the drama. In a perfect world, I’d love a 2nd AND 3rd AT LEAST for him alone, but the front office may be forced to concede value unless there’s an owner out there that’s been living in a cave for the past two years.

The best we can hope for

is a bidding war between a couple 4-3 teams driving his price up a bit.

The Lions Hayensworth jersey revelation got my hopes up a little. A little.

For what it’s worth, we shouldn’t see the Lions next year. We played the entire central division this year, and next year we’ll only play the Vikings (who may have #5) based on both teams finishing last. Fat Al and Suh will tear up the Cowgoofs.

Just added Christian Ponder to list....

Redskins have a “strong interest” in him I heard from a journalist from http://www.newerascouting.com.

He would be a great late round get

by Mr. E on Jan 27, 2011 11:09 AM EST up reply actions

I can try to do a write-up on him tomorrow if you like

I’m somewhat biased, but I’ve followed him more closely than just about anyone here, save maybe SeminoleSkins87. I’ll see if I have time.

Someone to add to the list....

James Brewer

the link mentions they talked to him. Scott Wright actually tracks all the meetings day by day which is nice. His main page for tracking is here:

by Shannafan on Jan 27, 2011 11:18 AM EST reply actions

Still....

Don’t want to add this guy to the list?

by Shannafan on Jan 30, 2011 11:18 AM EST up reply actions

We should be

Shipping Cooley for picks might be a good decision. Fred Davis is decent and he would then need a backup.

by Shannafan on Jan 27, 2011 11:25 AM EST up reply actions

If we... want to win like the Patriots

Then we better start trading like them. Sometimes that means taking the emotion out of it and shipping your talent that you suspect but don’t know will slip in the next 2-3 years for picks.

by Shannafan on Jan 27, 2011 11:31 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah,

I was referencing Remember the Titans. Long haired guy from California = Logan Paulsen (backup TE from UCLA). Probably should’ve explained that obscure reference.

As much as everyone likes Cooley, I would understand if ShanAllen shipped him out for picks.

by CarverM on Jan 27, 2011 11:35 AM EST up reply actions

My bad...

I get ya now… I don’t think Paulsen is a serviceable backup. But to be honest with out depth I don’t see enough of him to be sure.

by Shannafan on Jan 27, 2011 11:36 AM EST up reply actions

He was used quite a bit this season

but as a blocking TE. He’s also snuck in a few key grabs. I wouldn’t be so down on him.

by CarverM on Jan 27, 2011 11:37 AM EST up reply actions

Beat me to it

I was going to point out that he reminds me more of Kevin Boss. Likely be a better blocker than Cooley, but I wouldn’t see a lot of “fantasy production” out of him. Davis would be the go-to receiving threat while Logan would be more of a blocking TE if Cooley was shipped.

We already have Paulsen.

Every time I think of his name I recall that scene in fight club. “His name was Robert Paulsen….His name was Robert Paulsen..” I know it’s not the same name, but still. Any Fight Club reference is great…

Thats true

Maybe we will lighten up on depth at TE finally.

by Shannafan on Jan 27, 2011 11:34 AM EST reply actions

Rashad Carmichael

Would be a good move if Carlos Rogers left. Similar athleticism to DeAngelo Hall. VT claims he can run the 40 in the 4.20’s but this guy is a consistent 4.30’s guy. Great speed, 5’10" 185lbs and prefers press coverage. Apparently has done very well in the senior bowl in man coverage, coming out of his breaks, great feet, back pedal. What I’ve heard is he has pulled in 3 or 4 INTs in two days. The worry is at VT, he played the CB where they use mostly zone, but he seemed to be able to shut guys down. Good all around player, could be a good pick up if we traded down or traded Haynesworth/McNabb/whatever for a 3rd and Rogers left.

I'm really anti-Locker

Why would we draft a guy that has horrible accuracy in college?

Hogs Haven. On Twitter. And Facebook.

by Kevin Ewoldt on Jan 27, 2011 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, after a day without Power I've come to the realization that I don't want Locker...

He’s just completely inaccurate, I’m intrigued that they’re talking to Christian Ponder, I realize I blasted him in a previous argument, but that was for the sake of the argument. I’m still intrigued.

Why do all of this year’s QBs suck?

Dear Passionate fan, I know you are passionate, but please reply with a logical answer or I will ignore you.

by TerpsAllTheWay on Jan 27, 2011 11:58 PM EST up reply actions

Because Shanahan (either one) probably think they can fix that which causes the inaccuracy..

Personally, I’m done with this year’s QB crop unless there’s a UFA that we can give a look to. I don’t have an answer for the QB woes, but I don’t think that question will be answered in this draft. O-Line, D-Line, LB, WR, best available (which may be that Nevada kid) in that order with help in draft picks from trading Fat Al. That’s all I’m sayin’.

At least Jefferson thinks we're OK at WR.

I like the list, melded as QB, DE & NT, OG… Any chance to get Jordan? Sounds like a beast. About Locker: sounds great, but you just have to worry some about a guy who is not and never has been a “good” (here, meaning “accurate”) passer. I could be wrong, but I figured that as an almost absolute requirement.
