With Andrew Luck staying in College should we look to trade our Number 10 pick this year for a 2012 1st and 2nd Rounder if possible
Or maybe trade our 2nd Rounder for a 2012 1st Rounder.
Clearly the best way would be to trade our 10 to a Carolina/Arizona type team who would hopefully have a Top 3 pick the following year (yeah I know its hard to predict, but with a cheap owner, new coach and talent traded away, as well as a brutal division, I think its safe to Say Carolina will get very few wins next season) Now just think if we stand pat and Trade our 10th pick for a 2012 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 that will give us 2 1st Rounders next year to use to trade up even if Carolina are not the Top Pick, and if we get lucky and they are, we are at the Top of the pile for the Luck Pick?
Or better yet, keep our 10th pick, but trade pick 42 for a 2012 first rounder to maybe a desperate Buffalo or Zona (though Zona is a risk, cos they have a good coach and a weak division and if they improve at QB (McNabb maybe) they will have a decent record) maybe that 2012 1st Rounder is at least Top 10 and again we have 2 first Rounders to trade up.
Now I know this is a MASSIVE RISK, but when we are as QB desperate as we are, is this a risk worth taking to increase your chance of getting the Top QB of the last few years who can set up your next decade. Plus with the Rookie Wage Scale coming in, we will get Luck Cheap as well.
Seems like this is not a completely crazy idea.
The main risk seems to be the Lockout and how if there is a shortened season, it might mean a couple of lucky wins makes a 10 or 12 spot difference for a terrible team in a draft order.
Thoughts??
