A quick question
Wanted to say hello from Broncoland, and let you all know that I am still a huge Shanny fan and wish the Redskins well, except when they play the Broncs of course. My question is how has Fred Davis looked and what are your expectations for him this year? I ask because I need a #2 TE for my fantasy team and he is available. I would appreciate any input any of you might have. Also willing to answer any questions about Bronco players if there are any out there.

Personally I wouldn’t touch him as a fantasy #2 b/c he’s a real #2. I’d definitely take a stab at him if Cooley wasn’t healthy. Its really hard for us to tell what kind of numbers Davis will put up b/c 1) We haven’t seen enough of McNabb to see who his “safety blanket” is and 2) we haven’t seen a lot of the 21 (double TE) personnel that I expect to see in the regular season. I think we may see Cooley out at WR every now and then, which could improve Davis value.
I think he could have a big year......
Big athletic guy…good hands….decent blocker already! I have Finley and Gonzo in my one leaqgue…..nice tandem…..with Celek as the back-up!
Finley's the best I got....
I like what’s going on in GB w/ Rodgers and that passing game too much. We could talk about Gonzalez or Celek. They are no slouches either.
Appreciate the responses, Carlson isn't available.............
It really is between Kevin Boss and Fred Davis. Davis had better stats last year but wasn’t Cooley out. It is a dilemma for me because the Gints don’t use a TE much and Shanny used them a lot in Denver.
CHARACTER, INTELLIGENCE, and HARD WORK often beats TALENT but what happens when you load up on all 4???????????
Davis won't give you substantial fantasy #'s unless Cooley goes down..
Look at Rob Gradkowski from NE, he might take that job from Aaron Hernandez..
LOL it is slim pickens in my league................
Rob G., Aaron H., and Gresham are all taken.

We haven't seen.....
what the hell our offense is truly going to be yet. We don’t know how much 2 TE sets are going to be used. I know Fred Davis would easily be our #3 receiver in my opinion anytime he is on the field……just don’t know how much that’s going to happen. It’s a flyer……That’s why I asked about Cook from the Titans…..he got hurt last year but is a big, fast TE that is probably off everyone’s radar!
I'm not into the Fantasy League stuff
so take this with a grain of salt. Two things make FD an interesting choice for your #2:
1) We have very bad WRs, which makes both Cooley and Davis high profile targets, so to speak. This means, IMO, that we will be in more 2 TE sets, which means FD is more likely to get catches and even red zone action for TDs.
2) Rexx Grossman targetted FD in pre-season with success. If McNabb goes down (as expected), I would expect him to find Davis.
The reality factor is that there are a LOT of good TE’s in the league these days. If you can find one who hasn’t been picked up in your league and he’s an everyday starter/target, that might be the better choice.

Come on bro we don’t need these negative thoughts out in the universe
I did say "If"....
Yeah, you are correct. Ooohhhmmmm….koooooooooollll-aaaaiiiddd….

I dont think that WR are that bad.
I think that they are better then the WR corp that McNabb had before TO was in Philly. I am not going to sell Joey galloway short until I see him try to play a full game. Roydell and Devin have a lot to prove but I think that it can be done.

Here’s hoping McNabb stays healthy for you guys, if so I think it will be a good year. How has the O-line looked in the preseason?

Pass protection...
was not too shabby over all, run blocking, not so much but he had post up here yesterday talking about how young Shanny likes to use different formations to create lanes and I don’t think we showed much in the preseason, so we will see.
I think Davis will lead the team in recieving TD's.
He’s a big red zone target and the second TE always seems to be able to leak out around the goal line.
Not worth owning in a 10 or 12 team league
But worth keeping an eye on. If Cooley got hurt he becomes a top 10 TE.
It’s possible he ends up top 12 or top 10, but you have to take a wait and see approach.

look for
dustin keller – jermaine gresham – st louis has a guy – hoomanuwanui – gronkowski for pats – and this guy on the panthers – barnridge?or something i forget off the top of my head
Keller, Hoomanuwani........
might be there as well as the guy from carolina. Gronk was drafted.

I took a risk this year
on TE, went with Olson from Chicago. Martz doesn’t use his TE very much, but Olson was 600+ yards and 8 TDs last year, and I think he and Cutler have a good understanding. I also think Cutler will be much better this year, 25 TDs and maybe 15 INTs, and the TE will be a big part of working the field in the red zone.
As for Davis, I agree with what else has been said. Put him on your watch list; if Cooley goes down, Davis becomes a very good pickup, but otherwise I’d leave him off the roster.
