Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

I'M sorry, BUT Albert.....what the $%#@&*%$$$$ R u....

Unless I wasnt paying much attention, I thought I witnessed a poor performance/effort by AH most of the night! It seemed as though he was simply "just going thru the motions " many times.

I understand changing the culture of the FBteam , and even attempting to coach one out of poor practing habits / attitudes...HE IS OF NO USE OUT OF SHAPE and is of great value IN SHAPE...couldnt AH just Yield and allow MS to coach the team into a TEAM . I'm sorry but I think that MS has been more than reasonable in allowing AH to practice at and play some DE . AH saids he wants to be another Reggie White ...really

Then U better git busy

Minister of Defense:

13-time Pro Bowler & 8-time First-Team All-Pro
He was voted by ESPN Sportsnation as the greatest player in Eagles' franchise historyWhite was also just as valued for his role as a team leader. He helped the Packers to two Super Bowls

If that Reid article is correct -

I would be losing patience with him, and would bench him if I thought he wouldn’t play hard. The thing is, I don’t necessarily believe the “sources”. Whatever Shanahan does is OK with me.

You don't want to believe the "sources"

Because they’re saying something bad about dear little AH.

Sir

His play, attitude and lack of Interest and Effort were nothing short of Unprofessionalism as well as dangerous to those who played thinking that he had their back…..deliberate unaccountability
This situation is tiring me….including the media who hype it

agreed - he should live up to his contract or be traded

Personally I hope he has a monster year so that someone will be willing to trade for him.

AH taking some plays off in preseason doesn’t bother me so much. But if in fact he has not really made demonstrated consistent interest in learning how the 3-4 works, then that’s a problem. That would seem to contradict what players have tended to say — that AH has been a good student and paid attention in meetings since he’s been in camp.

Incentives

I wonder if there are incentives in his contract related to performance, starting , etc . MS has a ruff job dealing with this situation especially since it has been overlooked for sooo many years.AH has so much POTENTIAL (i think) that its hard to believe that he is not hell-bent on making himself a place in FB history…i just dont understand!!
Sure wish he’d come around!
Ms has a hard issue here ,but MUST stick to what is right . I support him!

I SAY TAKE FAT ALBERT OUT

I think that shanny should line him up and have one of our guys take his knees out and make sure he cant ever play again and teach this loser you are not going to steal 21 million and then cry like a lil bitch.

Meh, I'm sure Shanahan will handle the situation

hopefully he starts the Dallas game and is actually motivated.

by TerpsAllTheWay on Sep 5, 2010 7:01 PM EDT reply actions

at this point...

I’m hoping that he becomes motivated by his TEAM-MATES who will NO DOUBT be WORKING THEIR BUTTS OFF and kickin %^$^ & taking names.
If he continues on this childish path , I’m afraid that he’ll be labeled A TRAITOR…league wide!!

Once we get into the regular season....

Albert will play at a level indicative of his talent. He was not an All-Pro for nothing. He has too much pride to let up in the regular season. This is all part of his pissing contest with Shanahan.

The guy can flat out play, and will play, in the regular season.

I don’t agree with the way AH has handeled this whole thing, but I do believe he is still one of the most dominate D-linemen in the NFL.

He will prove his worth this season!

Don't ever let failure get you down. Remember, a very successful major league hitter failes 70% of the time.

Tiller..you may very well be right....

but effort might ony be part of the problem here AH, even going 100%, could end up being a detriment if he is not playing within the scheme.

by MagicHat on Sep 6, 2010 7:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Or if

If AH plays half-heartedly , wont good teams take advantage of that.
Afterall MS is only trying to get him in playing shape!
I just dont know what to think..hopefully he’ll come around and be what we almost dream of him being…a great TEAM player.

This is wishful thinking. It’s possible. It’s also possible that once he got one of the biggest contracts of all time, his dedication took a nosedive.

The only time Albert was an All Pro was...

when there was a contract coming up. Whether it was the year before he was drafted or whenever since, he’s only motivated by the upcoming money. Since he’s got all the money now he’s going to sit on his ass and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. It’s the attitude he’s had forever. Shanahan isn’t going to change that and neither is anybody else unless he’s kicked out of here and some other fool offers him a ton of money. Snyder should just let the front office dump him because we’ve gotten all we’re going to get out of AH.

Agree (as usual) with Tiller and Magic

I hope he is motivated, and learns the system – he talked like he would. But these latest reports say he won’t start against Dallas, and has been removed from certain sets, and didn’t practice much Saturday. The first two are OK on their own – logical to rest him some, and not put him in schemes he hasn’t mastered, and reasonable to keep him on the second team until he earns a start. Reasonable for me and Shanahan and Haslett. But what will it do to his confidence and motivation and general attitude? Will he get mad and want to show us how good he is, or sulk and mope around? If he’s not playing well, he shouldn’t play (much). So I worry a little. If I was Haslett, I’d be at least ready to bench him, and live with Carriker, Daniels, Golston. Holliday and Jarmon, and Bryant and Kemoeatu at NT. Unfortunate, but I don’t know what’s going on in Albert’s head. John Keim wrote a piece analyzing what kind of a guy AH is, and it was depressing. If he’s right, Albert will not play well.

Scary

When hope no longer exists…reality is that No One Man is greater than the whole AH has NO visions of Greatness and could easily hurt the TEAMS efforts this year. I’m less hopeful and not encouraged that AH is going to come around. The Dallas game will be the beginning or final chapter with this guy

Haynesworth - ignore the lies, hatchett jobs and general BS

I just read the report on practice today, and was both shocked and encouraged, because Shanahan and Haslett basically, indirectly, refuted the discouraging report from Jason Reid (AH awful vs AZ, MS fed up, etc) that I mentioned above. On the AZ game, Shanahan said AH “worked hard” and made a few mistakes – hardly “awful”. Haslett and Philip Daniels pointed out the real problem – that Albert doesn’t know the whole defense yet – PD suggested it could be 2 or 3 weeks. JH and MS both affirmed that Albert might not start (logically, because he’s not comfortable in all packages) and Haslett noted that it doesn’t make much difference who starts because there are so many packages. MS and AH walked off the field together. So the report today showed that Albert has work to do – he has not internalized all the defenses – but is not sulking, is not on a black list, is working hard, the players have not turned against him, and (by implication) will play against Dallas. And, that report from two or three sources that everybody is mad and he might not play – was totally wrong. Just shows you can’t believe team or NFL sources – they play games and make things up (remember how we were vying with the Raiders for Houshmandzadeh?).

Where is that report?

Can I have a link?

Look in the Wash Post

“Whoever plays in this game, we alternate [so] it doesn’t make a difference,” Haslett said. “You can say they start, they don’t start – it really doesn’t make a difference because whoever is up, all of them play.” Expect Haynesworth to play at least half of the defensive plays.

yes, it is absolutely his fault....

but we play Dallas in 5 days and that is all that matters, finger pointing, bitching, and/ot complaining is pointless…our team is set, lets get behind them and get ready for some football!!
