Haynesworth to Miss Season Opener?

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, a former Redskins beat man for The Post, delivered an interesting nugget Wednesday regarding Albert Haynesworth's status for the opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 12. Citing an anonymous Skins source, La Canfora reported that Haynesworth is "far from assured" a starting spot against the Cowboys. Then La Canfora took the report to another level:
"Haynesworth could be deactivated for the Redskins' Week 1 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, the source surmised, as coach Mike Shanahan continues to sort through what has been a troubling offseason with the high-priced defensive lineman," writes La Canfora.
Unless Haynesworth is injured or being punished, I don't see any reason why the Redskins would play him in a preseason game and then turn around and sit him in the first game of the regular season. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think there's a good possibility Haynesworth comes off the bench against the Cowboys, but it's hard for me to believe he would be inactive for the game.
Could this be a possibility? I really hope not, our depth on the d-line is scary without Haynesworth and I feel like Dallas would run all over us, not to mention we've already been getting run over the entire preseason. Do you think Shanahan would take it this far? I think if Haynesworth continues his attitude since spewing off at the media two preseason games ago there should be no reason for deactivating him week one.
Who knows, hopefully this is just another one of those things that never comes to fruition.

LaCanfora is an idiot, trying to milk a little bit more out of the Haynesworth story
His idea is directly contradicted by other credible reports, all indicating that any “feud” is over. Haynesworth wants to play tonight to keep learning the defense. Shanahan and Haslett are not going to bench their best player – and risk losing the game – because they’re a little miffed about off-season events. Ridiculous. The clown ought to be ashamed of himself. Notice there are no real sources. It is not based on anything, it is pure guesswork.
All that said, it probably is possible that Haynesworth might not be in the first defense on the field, but it would be because Haslett wants to use many defenses and packages, and Haynesworth is probably not in all of them. E.g., they want to see how Kemoeatu does (a real question), so he’ll probably be the NT in the 3-4 to start, with AH at DE. But they may think that Albert is not up to speed in all packages, so they could substitute occasionally. But it would be amazing if he doesn’t play.
About as believable as McNabb missing game 1 huh?

In case you didn't notice,
week 1 is a game between the Dallas Cowboys and The Washington Reedskins. That means this directly affects the team I root for as well as yours. The news discussed on this blog routinely affects the Cowboys because both teams are also divisional rivals. I honestly don’t know why you have such a problem with other fans. This is an eveytime occurence. How about if you don’t like me don’t read the comment?
Anyways, all I meant was Haynesworth will play week one regardless of what some hack writer puts on his blog. So will McNabb, and all these reports are just hype.

I'll say this only once....
Shanny has a reputation for holding a grudge far longer than I would expect most humans would. I really hope that he has gotten over the OTAs/Camp thing presuming Fat Al is now on board with the program and working his ass off. Just sayin’ that we don’t need overkill in Shanny’s point making ability.

That La Confora is being a jackass and is just stirring up trouble. I don’t see how Shanahan would honestly deactivate one of the best players on our team, especially on opening night against Dallas.
