Poll: Who Has the Better Fantasy Team?

Ken and I are in another fantasy league that is all Redskins bloggers...people included are: Matt Terl, Doug Ramey, Danny Rouhier, Rich Tandler, Jamie Mottram, Tanner Cooley, Homer McFanboy, Steinberg, and Grant Paulsen.

Fat Pickled has been talking a TON OF SHIT saying they're going to whoop us Week 1...which I think is laughable given how poopy his team is and the tough matchups. Who do you think has the better team? (I added a poll).

We have a side bet loser has to do a post doing a Cowboys/Redskins recap from the Cowboys angle...ie - mention only their team and players.

You know I love ya Kevin, and although I think your QBs are about even and you may have a slight edge with your RBs, he has way better WRs and a better TE.

Steven Jackson scored 4 TDs last year...4.

Dwayne Bowe is not a fantasy point racker either…

Hogs Haven. On Twitter. And Facebook.

Like them both, haha.

by JimmyK on Sep 2, 2010 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Bowe is a great receiver and will flourish this year. And do you really think Jackson will have 4 TDs again?

Slaton, DMC, Hester, and Gano (maybe) are AWFUL picks. But the worst pick of all is having TWO defenses. WTF!

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions

But the worst pick of all is having TWO defenses. WTF!

Yeah, Kev… Not good. Rookie mistake on that one.

by JimmyK on Sep 2, 2010 10:06 AM EDT up reply actions

Haha, no. Bobby Hoying and Mike Mamula.

Don’t be upset that I don’t like your team, bud.

by JimmyK on Sep 2, 2010 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions

wow...a lot of bus drivers today

I am going to stand by this team. I am not at all ready to call any of the picks a mistake. I drafted the Skins defense one round ahead of the Ravens defense. I think we will be starting the Ravens on more than a few weeks, but they will always know they were drafted second…could be a motivating factor (that’s called good coaching). I took the second defense to start because sometimes you don’t really know how good one is going to be, and I like to have a built-in drop option for when some randon wide receiver or running back emerges.

I took CP late and thought he was very much a bargain. Then, drafting Redskins became almost like an obsession. Cooley was the best TE on the board when I took him. Santana Moss was a guy Kevin and I agreed was a steal in the middle rounds and then Gano is…well obviously he is going to be a fantasy stud.

by Ken Meringolo on Sep 2, 2010 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions

I just checked out Yahoo, the Skins defense has been drafted in 2% of drafts and Gano in .000001%

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 10:42 AM EDT up reply actions

yeah but pas...

all that means is we are smarter than 98% percent of the people drafting defenses and 99.999999% of people drafting kickers.

That is the nicest compliment you have ever paid me.

by Ken Meringolo on Sep 2, 2010 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

No joke though

The Skins defense could be a big, fantasy sleeper. If they make turnovers in the regular season like they did in the preseason, rack up the sacks, and continue the points allowed from years past, we could easily have a top fantasy defense.

by BigOLinemen on Sep 2, 2010 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions

It's been so annoying the last couple years

to have a “top” defense but do so poorly in fantasy.

by CarverM on Sep 2, 2010 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions

Portis has been good late round value in a lot of my drafts

but not to use as a starter.

Very Very close though i think the edge goes to the pickle

I give a slight advantage to pickle at rb a bit more of an advantage at rb and a slight advantage at qb to kev

I gave ya'll the vote

based on the assumption that Chris Cooley, Santana Moss, Graham Gano, and Wash D/ST are going to score about 25 points apiece against Dallas.

Slight edge to Fat Pickled

If Vincent Jackson plays then a much bigger edge to Fat Pickled.

Mike Wallace will probably replace Bowe in the line up sooner rather than later.

I don’t like Portis as a fantasy starter.

Hogs Haven bench is pretty bad.

Pierre Garcon is the #2 WR with Colts..he should have good #s

Otherwise, yea. Rough…esp since this is a 10-team league.

Yea but they have Gonzalez back and they can actually run the ball now, so Garcon’s #s will probably go down.

IMHO

Addai is simply decent. He’s not really capable of being great, or of putting up tons of yards in that offense.

Pierre got a whole bunch of looks late last season.

It should roll over to this year. I say it is a really good pick for a ten team league.

but both teams are a little poo poo. I’m not a fan of the first round QB, both teams ended up a little light on TDs. I like the Mathews pick and the Stafford pick too, but would rather roll with Kolb or Cutler plus Stafford and have someone like Rice or Turner instead of Rodgers. What draft slot did you have?

by liger99 on Sep 2, 2010 10:05 AM EDT reply actions

Yall could pull it out week 1

But Pickle has a better team for the rest of the season. If you have one RB go down then you’re F’d, but don’t worry you have two defenses to compensate for that.

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 10:39 AM EDT reply actions

If you guys played each other You would be blocked out...

He has Rogers’ fav redzone target… I think its gonna be a shoot out with Brees and Favre. But you will do better in the long run with Rogers…

other than that it is pretty close… your WRs look to be better… His RBs could pull a little more in points… You have be Ds he has a better K…lol.. Hopefully Gano will be in the redzone and Xp kicking alot this year…

I would consider for this week changining your Ds around… Jets are a low yield Offense plus its Baltimore. He could possibly go Negative points with Cincy as his D against NE..

Are you on crack?
your WRs look to be better

Roddy White: Probably like the 7th or 8th best WR in the league.
Dwayne Bowe: Is ranked about 10 spots higher than Moss on everything I’ve seen

Moss: Has virtually no help and could get double teamed
Ochocinco: Have you noticed how much Palmer likes hitting TO? Ocho’s #’s are going to go down a lot, esepcially TDs, o and did I mention Cincy loves to run the ball?

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions

Wallace is WAAAAAAY better than Hester and VJax after the suspension is a key too.

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 10:55 AM EDT up reply actions

They're throwing to TO for a reason in preseason...

You can’t really think Ocho won’t be the #1 target? Smoke and mirrors if anything.

John Hansen has Bowe at #25 and Moss #26 WR

Fantasyguru.com is the best FF site out there IMO. Their Draft Plan article is a must read every year.

by liger99 on Sep 2, 2010 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions

PAS!!!! answer me a few questions...

Who is throwing to Bowe? do you know… no? Noone else does either…
White: I’ll give you that he is good.. thats a good one..

now the other side…
Ocho 5: Is gonna get a lot of looks just because TO is over there… TO is gonna draw a lot of touches but so is 85.
Moss: Moss is gonna have an impressive year… Right now he is ranked like 10th on the list I refer to.. Thats not really too shabby when there are 32 teams in the league.

RBs: Im not reall bying into too much of the Rookie hype except for one… Ryan mathews He is a prospect that has knocked steve Slaton out of a starting job. He is supposed to be the second coming of C. Johnson. Last time I checked he has a pretty good team offensivly… CJ Spiller… sorry seen Buffalo play… Cant run if you aint got no line… and lastly.. Javid Best… Last time I checked he was on the DETROIT LIONS!!!

Matt Cassel (+1 to Smuts, apparently we’re the only two)

Ocho 5: Is gonna get a lot of looks just because TO is over there…

Moss: Moss is gonna have an impressive year… Right now he is ranked like 10th on the list I refer to.. Thats not really too shabby when there are 32 teams in the league.

False

Ryan mathews He is a prospect that has knocked steve Slaton out of a starting job.

Steve Slaton is on the Houston Texans, so I’m not sure how Matthews effected the Texans roster in such a way. Maybe you’re refering to Sproles, who clearly isn’t an every down back.

He is supposed to be the second coming of C. Johnson.

WHAT!?!? According to who? Their running style and physical make up are totally different. 4.45 40 vs 4.29

CJ Spiller… sorry seen Buffalo play… Cant run if you aint got no line…

Fred Jackson was a Top 15 RB last year with Buffalo, seen him play?

Javid Best… Last time I checked he was on the DETROIT LIONS!!!

Don’t be so incredibly ignorant, especially when you’re a fan of a team that lost to Detroit a year ago. He’s averaging 8.6 yds per carry in the preseaon.

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 12:14 PM EDT up reply actions

i was scratching my head

on the steve slaton (usurped by Arian Foster) and the second coming of Chris Johnson. And Santana at #10 overall WR? that’s silly

Yeah I was thinking Foster… Yeah that was dumb…

So couldn’t you say… TO: Is gonna get a lot of looks just because Ocho is over there…?

Reread the next sentence try again..

There was talk at the beginning of the preseason that Cassel may not get the start…

Fred Jackson was a Top 15 RB last year with Buffalo, seen him play?

what the hell does that got to do with this season.. and Cj Spiller… Top 15? really? Thats not too bad.. Unless you come to realize there are only like 8 every down backs out there… So that means there were around 7 part time ball carriers ahead of him.. dunno if you could consider that a good stat…

Ryan Mathews:

WHAT!?!? According to who? Their running style and physical make up are totally different. 4.45 40 vs 4.29

says all the pundents that have him ranked 10th-12th overall in most draft lists…

by milcmann on Sep 2, 2010 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions

what the hell does that got to do with this season.. and Cj Spiller…

Your sole reason for Spiller not having good #s was that Buffalo was Buffalo, you can still put up good fantasy numbers on shitt teams.

says all the pundents that have him ranked 10th-12th overall in most draft lists…

So why does that make him the next Chris Johnson? Matthews can’t even hold CJs jock strap right now…

by Parks Smith on Sep 2, 2010 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Hell I dont know... I havnet seen the guy play one snap...

Im not a draft ranker… Hence the reason I said the “The Pundents” …jag

You picked a good team

I had you guys even until the WR/TE/RB. I give you the slightest edge because Portis is going to start all year for us (barring injury) and the zone blocking scheme is a recipe for success, while Spiller may be the 3rd RB (in the rotation) when Lynch and Fred Jackson come back from injury. Spiller is a beast, but unless he becomes the #1 this year, I think Portis will just give you the edge.
