Problem?

If this is true, we extended our third-string QB before our starter. Will this cause any issues?

It's not like Beck took money that we were going to otherwise pay McNabb

There is no comparison

McNabb is looking for a well paid 3 or 4 year deal, Beck is happy to have a job.

Haha. Like y’all, the first thing I thought of was “Is this for real this time?” but this isn’t bad. He seems to be a capable back-up.

I like Beck too, but what's the hurry?

They couldn’t wait till the game tomorrow to give Bartel a chance? And does this suggest they actually like Beck better than Rex for the future?

Since Beck is not eligible for the practice squad does that mean the Skins are going to carry 3 QBs?

If that is the case it would reduce the chances for either 6 WR or 4 RB on the roster.

because 3/5ths of our current RBs are old.

Then a) take the young ones b) put williams on the practice squad c) if someone gets hurt pick up one of the 10,000 RB FAs

4 RBs is a complete waste, especially for Shanahan who continualy makes something out of nothing.

Shanny could MacGyver an RB

out of 2 pop tarts and a basketful of old socks.

Plus! Brandon Minor will likely be available, right Carver? Skins could be his redemption! :)

over 3 years...why is that bad?

He’s a decent QB….easily could be our #2 this year.

Guess you're right

They have some extra after cheating Dennis Morris/Hall Davis out of his minimum contract.

I would much rather find a younger quarterback

It’s easy to forget that Beck is 29 years old. I would prefer the Skins to get a rookie QB who they could put on the practice squad as a project QB

His name is Lockhart

My biggest qualm is that either Cantwell or Pike is going to be cut from Carolina and I would have rather picked up one of those two then Beck. Especially Pike…

The strangest thing about it is the timing

Makes little sense, whatever they think of him.

Redskins | John Beck takes pay cut for 2010

Fri, 03 Sep 2010 09:46:00 -0400

“Washington Redskins QB John Beck agreed to reduce his 2010 salary from $1.1 million to $600,000, a source told Rick Maese, of The Washington Post. His smaller salary likely will give him a better chance to make the final roster although he has not been guaranteed a spot. The source said Beck will receive a $100,000 bonus if he makes the team.”
