Redskins Insider - Kyle Shanahan believes Donovan McNabb will practice next week
"I expect him to be able to practice next week," Shanahan said following Tuesday's practice. "I think he does too. You never know. We'll see how the injury goes. We know he's hurting right now, but we think he'll be good to go next week."

Redskins Insider - Mounting confusion on Malcolm Kelly injury
One of Kelly's teammates, cornerback DeAngelo Hall, has said the team misdiagnosed Kelly's injury at the outset of training camp and didn't learn the severity of it until after Kelly was already exercising the muscle.

The blogging the boy's stats article was interesting

but I don’t remember our 1st team defense giving up that many points this preseason….

I didn’t think so either. But like you said, interesting indeed.

It was hard to tell because

JH was moving people in and out with different packages mixed with 1st & 2nd stringers. Since it wasn’t a wholesale swap out, I agree that our 1st string D is in better shape than the stats they were using.

Maybe the BTB blogger was watching the DLine

where the players played with several different ‘units’. I think he would have been better served to watch when DHall, Rogers, or Fletch came out.

Wise

He didn’t mention the premature McNabb report, which, with the BR report, suggested he had gotten a little carried away with himself. But he seems to be genuinely contrite, and done some self-examination, which is good. No big deal for me, but for awhile at least, some might not trust his reports as much as they used to – just a little more sceptical.

Leinart

The Raiders are looking for another top QB? Don’t they already have a bunch, including JC, and my guy Colt? They’re going crazy out there.

by Donnio1234 on Sep 1, 2010 10:47 AM EDT reply actions

Leinart

I don’t know if you’ve been watching football the last 4 or 5 years, but Leinart is not a “top QB”. Neither are JC and Colt, for the matter.

by CarverM on Sep 1, 2010 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Even though USC runs a "Pro-Style" offense

Leinart is still the product of a system. When you have 4 & 5 star blue chippers at every position offense & defense, 1st & 2nd string – your job as a QB is not nearly as demanding as most guys coming out of college IMO. So people get overrated based on their supporting cast in some cases. I’m thinking Colt McCoy is in a likewise situation, although his injured shoulder may have something to do with it. Nevertheless, it just goes to show what a crap shoot picking a college QB can be.

I haven’t heard, but Clausen (hate to admit it) did well in his first appearance. Is he continuing to show promise?

Top QBs

I know – I used the term loosely, a little ironic. I don’t have an opinion on Leinart, except that he was and maybe still is, a starter, and probably would cost something, so why would The Raiders be interested in him? The have at least three experienced QBs on the roster.

I'm kind of pissed
Shanahan and Haslett want Haynesworth to be ready to play right end Sept. 12 against the Dallas Cowboys at FedEx Field, and Haynesworth could benefit from getting many reps at end against the Cardinals.

A whole lot of crap over nothing….

I like it

Have you ever read 1984? Its like they tortured him into being a model citizen just because he spoke out against Big Brother.

by CarverM on Sep 1, 2010 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Of course I've read 1984...

it’s like this whole thing since Shanny got here was a whole lot of double-speak by both sides.

The kool-aided side of my brain said it would be this way all along. The paranoid part had the entire team flushed down the toilet with drama by the end of training camp. Looks like the kool-aid is winning. Hip hip hooray!

Haynesworth

A little surprising to be so blunt about it, but if I understand Haslett correctly, Albert will be playing quite a bit of something similar to a nose tackle – all those different looks, two men lines, etc. Not only that, the games and analyses from John Keim and Kevin suggest that Kemoeatu is not doing well at all at NT – getting pushed around – and neither of his backups is truly shining, either – another reason to think Albert might play quite a bit at NT. On the big feud, Shanahan may have simply wanted to get across the point that Albert would possibly have to play NT at times, whether he liked it or not. It now appears AH has no problem with his role, so everybody is happy.

D Hall

Does anybody else wish he would just shut up and play football? I mean I guess he’s always been one to talk, but just go do your job and stop talking. I think its one thing to have your teammates back on the field, but no reason to run your mouth to the media about somebody in the orginazation “possibly” screwing up.

I'm less bothered by Hall running his mouth

than I am about this developing pattern of our medical staff overlooking potentially serious issues.

It’s the kind of thing that can sour a lockerroom. Or cost the team wins if a guy hurts himself worse because he’s encouraged to work thru something instead of resting a week.

Him and Reggie Bush

Have an infatuation for jumping over defenders. Bush usually saves it for when he’s close to goal line though.

He said that himself in the post game comments

He said in the regular season he would of ran straight forward for 6. Haslett was getting on him about it too.

(off subject) I know we have been talking about it for months, but...

Is that fact that Dallas is coming to town in a week and a half, and Mike Shanahan is our coach and Dononvan McNabb our QB, completely surreal to anybody but me?

by MagicHat on Sep 1, 2010 12:37 PM EDT reply actions

About a 12-pack

of No. 9s kind of surreal – down right giddy, actually.

D'Angelo Hall

I really like his fire and enthusiasm. Sure he talks too much, but I don’t care, just like CP’s talking didn’t bother me.

Westbrook cut

Curiouser and curiouser. Is that reliable? How did Shefter know before Byron himself? If true, it looks like a lack of communication between offices, between Shanahan and Allen. Or a leaker.
