Hogs Haven Fantasy Debate
The following are the consensus Top 10 Quarterbacks for the upcoming fantasy football season (compiled from CBS/ESPN/NFL.com/HHFF). Which quarterback NOT listed here will finish in the top 5 fantasy quarterbacks in 2010? Don't forget about our cardinal rule when it comes to debating lists like these at Hogs Haven. When you pick someone to move into the Top 10, you have to pick someone in the Top 10 to be booted out.
2. Drew Brees
4. Matt Schaub
5. Tom Brady
7. Tony Romo
8. Jay Cutler
9. Joe Flacco
10. Matt Ryan
We also have an update on Hogs Haven's fantasy football league (after the jump).
We filled the remaining spots of the league and will be sending an email out this week to those who will participate. In that email, we will propose a few draft dates and try and settle on it by week's end. Rules are being constructed now. What we need is a name. Besides debating today's fantasy topic, please provide a suggestion for what our league should be called. The winner will receive a HH t-shirt. Keep them at least somewhat clean, please (I realize innuendo usually wins this one).

Ha, since we're talking fantasy...
I’m gonna say that Tim Tebow is gonna be the top performing QB this year. “Newton’s Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Tim Tebow pass.”

Carson Palmer
Don't ever let failure get you down. Remember, a very successful major league hitter failes 70% of the time.
If we're talking about putting someone who's not on the list into the top ten and removing someone from that list then;
I gotta go with Donovan and take Schaub out, I think Kyle Shannahans departure is gonna make the texans take a step back
Palmer in
Rivers out. I think Rivers will have a tough year IF Jackson sits out 10 games.
not the way Palmer played last night...
worrisome for his fantasy prospects

Matt Schaub won't play 16 games again
so he can be taken out.
Romo and Rivers will be near the top of the list no matter who suits up for them on offense.

Jay Cutler will not be a top 10 QB...
So he’s definitely out. I don’t know who to put in between Palmer, McNabb, or Eli Manning.
Matt Ryan out
Brett Favre in…. Ryan is on a run first offense and there has been no additions (other than a healhier Turner) which would indicate that this would be the first year he finishes in the top 10 fantasywise.
Favre was in the top 10 last year, has 3 good WRs and a good TE (not to mention a good O-Line)… and it seems pretty clear that he’ll play once his ankle is fully healed, which will be prolly the 3rd preseason game, so he doesnt have to show up at camp.

I second the addition of Brett Favre.
I didn’t realize he wasn’t on the list initially. I mean the guy was in the running for league MVP last year- we all know he will play, and there is no way he drops from top 3 to out of the top 10 overnight.
Eli Manning will be top-10
easily.

I doubt it
The only reason he put up monster numbers last year was because he was the only competent skill position player on that offense. They’re not going to ask him to do that much again unless their running game dries up again. While it won’t be as potent as 06-08, I think their running game will take a step back in that direction this year.
They have a great, versatile WR corps
and their RBs are the same (average) ones as last year.
Elisha’s numbers might regress a bit, but he’ll still finish top 10 in fantasy.

I would put Favre and Sheli in the top 10
and take Cutler and Matt Ryan out the top ten. I’m not huge believer in either, especially Matt Ryan.
I disagree on Favre....
I like Favre and he had a magical season last year, New Orleans just brewed a stronger tea….It is very rare when two teams can pull that off in one season. If and when he shows up he will not do so with the same whirlwind that he did last year. He had the best year of his career last year, expecting him to repeat is asking too much, and expecting to inspire the team the same way is unreasonable, not to mention they sre seriously going to miss Chester Taylor and that division is going to be a lot tougher this year.
WR looks like the thin spot this year
The top 7-8 qbs ranked here seem correct, after that the next 6-7 qbs are all going to have about the same numbers at the end of the season. Fitz and DeSean have new qbs this year so this adds some risk to the wr pool. I’d look to go RB-WR or WR-RB in round one and two based on draft slot then look for one of the top 7 qbs in round three. Schaub or Romo could be there. If they are gone then it is time to wait for rounds 7-8, cutler or favre would be great to get here. If I miss there then a good fall back plan would be a McNabb/Stafford combo. Eli, Plamer, and Big Ben would be okay too…but if I wait this long I am taking two QBs to be safe (rounds 9-12 or so) and I want to pair a solid vet with an upside young guy like Stafford. I might even grab a Leinart or Bradford as my third if ints are not too costly in the scoring method.
