Marko Mitchell released by Vilkings

Marko Mitchell, the former Washington Redskins wide receiver, was released Tuesday by the Minnesota Vilkings.  What makes this news even more shocking is that Minn. just placed Sidney Rice on the PUP list after undergoing surgery, and still have lingering concerns about the health of Percy Harvin.  I figured with the termoil that has surrounded the Vilkings WR's this offseason, that Mitchell would have a chance to catch on, and earn some playing time in their offense.  Well, guess that ain't gonna happen.

Some, including myself, were quick to judge, when Shanny released Mitchell, but as we always need to remember, the coaches are smarter than us fans, so we need to trust their judgement when it comes to evaluating players.  I guess Mitchell wasn't all we thought he was cracked up to be.  Size and speed don't necessiarily make a good football player.

Well, here's hoping Marko catches on somewhere.

Marko Mitchell

Well, if he’s that bad, let’s hope the Cowboys grab him.

That would work for me.

Size and speed don’t necessiarily make a good football player.

But good coaching can sometimes bridge the gap.

wow

what makes this kid not nfl material. I watched him play college ball right here in my home town and i thought for sure he would be in the mold of randy moss.

Maybe a lack of ability to play ST.

Don't ever let failure get you down. Remember, a very successful major league hitter failes 70% of the time.

Now who will the Colt-MM people latch on to!?

Speaking of Colt

I read that Oakland was looking at getting Leinart from AZ. They already have JC, Colt and a couple of others. What are they thinking? One last tidbit: Norman Chad (writing in the Washington Post) noticed an oddity: there are seven starting QBs in the NFL named “Matt”. Must be something significant about that. (Just kidding).

What are they thinking? That Leinart is a much better prospect than Colt

Leinart

I would have wondered if the Skins would be interested, but now with signing Beck to a three year contract, I guess that’s out. Does anybody think Beck might be kept in lieu of Rex, leaving Bartel on the practice squad? Giving Beck a contract like that at this time just seems strange to me.

I doubt Rex is cut but if Beck plays really well tonight you never know.

but I thought Rex was a solid back up thru camp, but maybe they were just keeping him to teach the young guys. If Beck lights it up tonight that would be awesome regardless of Rex staying or leaving

It does seem strange, but given the $ amount, he still looks like a 3rd stringer to me

although that’s also wishful thinking on my part

Sexy Rexy: solid back up QB with experience
Beck: has never looked good, IMO

Or.....

they could just shit-can Beck now and leave Bartel!

If you base the decision on play.....

that would be the right decision. If we are giving a young journeymen like Armstrong a roster spot based on play…..I think Bartel has been just as impressive and has earned a spot over Beck if we carry 3 QBs!

Looking at the waiver wire....

I want them to drop kick Beck’s ass to the curb and put in a claim for Dan Lefevour…..he was waived by the Bears!!!
