Kind of a waste of draft picks, huh? I’m especially disappointed in Capers.
I was hoping Tyler Polumbus from Denver would be signed by us to add some depth at tackle, he started 8 games last year. He was an Undrafted FA for Shanny in ’08.
Well...
Ryan O’Halloran put up a new 53-man roster guess and he has most of these guys making the team. All worthless talk to me since this game decides so much. I’m waiting til after this game to make my predictions.

Both games really?
4th game is kind of fun to watch b/c there are always 3 or 4 position battles to make the roster.
Do you have a link to O’Halloran’s predictions?
yep

Predicted Cuts:
HB Blades- Would find this hard to believe, I think this might come down to Blades vs. Henson in the next two games.
Ryan Torain- Torain has impressed me a lot more than Williams…
Malcolm Kelly- Buh Bye…
Does anyone else think just suiting up two QBs is a bad idea given McNabb aka Mr. Glass is out QB? (Although he is a tough Mr.Glass)
100% agree
I think we have to carry Beck.

I thought Bartel was doing better than Beck
but maybe not since they went after Beck with Bartel in camp….?

Where you hear that about Bartel?
Keim didn’t say much, and they kept him over Colt. Not disagreeing – was just sort of hoping he would follow Colt as an unsung (or unhung?) hero.
Bartel is eligibile for the practice squad and Beck is not
I can see them trying to stash bartel and keeping Beck.

You could probably pick the first five cuts to get down to the 75 player roster.
1. Howard Green (NT) 2. Rob Jackson (OLB) 3. Will Montgomery (RG) 4. Clint Oldenburg (RT) 5. Lendy Holmes
The Team will probably keep the guys that will make the practice squad on the September 4 cuts.

Isn't Lendy a pretty good tackler?
Haven’t heard much about him except that he led the team in tackles in one of the preseason games. I think O’Halloran had Montgomery making the team. He’s been here awhile, too, I think.
I figured Terrence Austin might have the best chance, but that went out the window fairly quickly. Selvish Capers went from one of the top rated OL in college at the start of the season to almost undrafted at the end of the year.

I thought Terrence never had a shot
Solely b/c he was the PR/KR at UCLA and never once took one to the house…he lost that job senior year as well.

Yeah. I just figured since he was a WR he would have a shot. But then Banks showed up, Armstrong began to finally rise after like 4 years or so of bouncing around different leagues.
The Once and Future King
I'm probably doing a phone interview w/ Austin next week...
Anyone that has any questions fire away off this comment. I def plan to ask about not scoring in college and route-running.

Going into the Combine
Capers was one of the top rated OL. He nose-dived after a weak performance there. But he still seemed like the perfect fit for Shanahan’s style of zone blocking. I hope he can get it together.
Morris seems to be a waste as he seems to be on the bubble for a practice squad spot but it's hardly a waste if seventh rounders don't make the squad
Keim seemed to think even Perry Riley was on the bubble thoug. It’s what happens when the majority of your draft picks are in the 4th or later.

Clinton Portis is kind of interesting this year
You normally hear him joking about not wanting to practice or play in the preseason, but you haven’t heard it this year. Watch out for a leaner, meaner Clinton Portis with something to prove. Zone blocking helps too.
I haven't heard ANYTHING out of Portis
when he is usually so outspoken. Makes you wonder doesn’t it…
Exactly. Shanahan knows how to control players, which is something we haven’t seen in a long time.

depending on how big the drink is
would you wanna drink a half cup of grenadine (or two-thirds if you do burgandy-gold-burgandy)?

Trevor Pryce's Comments
Good insight from a guy who really knows – what it’s like to be in Shanahan’s doghouse, and how good Haynesworth is.
Yeah I found the story about Pryce's early years really interesting.
Didn’t know that.

O'Halloran's predictions
Why wouldn’t they keep Bartel on the practice squad? Of course, if they wouldn’t be comfortable ever using him, it doesn’t make sense to keep him at all. Beck slightly different – roster or gone. Galloway ahead of Williams and Wade at WR is a little debatable. Could it be a contract matter, like Collins in Chicago? John Keim said (If I remember correctly) that Scott didn’t look good in the games – on basic ability type things – which could leave a spot for Jarmon. It would be nice to keep Jeremy based on potential, granting that he is still recovering from his injury and the weight gain.
