Over at ESPN.com, they have most of the individual player ratings up for this year's release of Madden 2011. At first glance, it would seem that the Madden folks aren't very bullish on the chances this Redskins squad will be above average this year.

The Offensive Line stats are rather underwhelming and rightfully so I guess. Nobody is higher than 80, with Mike Williams being one of three "starters" to carry the 80 rating. Rookie Trent Williams gets hooked up with the early 80, which is awesome for all of you out there playing the dynasty mode--he is a surefire 90's tackle down the line. But this offensive line is going to STRUGGLE based on the numbers here. Jammal Brown's addition to the Washington roster will make a huge difference, but until that happens, the running game could be hard to find initially.

The game only puts one Redskin in 90's territory and it should come as no surprise that it is London Fletcher. I am a little shocked at Haynesworth's 86 overall rating, but I am perfectly content to consider him snubbed. The defense in general is solid, but it doesn't jump off the page as the show-stopping unit we all think it very well could be. The one rating I hate on defense is Jeremy Jarmon's 69 overall. I think this is not an accurate reflection of this particular player, but it could be a result of his injury. The other number I might quibble with is Kevin Barnes' tackle rating--I would like to see his tackle number in the high 70's or so since I think that is one of his strengths (but what do I know?).

On offense, McNabb rings the bell with an 89 overall, giving players the chance to dance with what is very much a legit Madden quarterback. The running backs are simply pedestrian, with the one caveat being Willie Parker's 95 speed rating. Cooley and Moss look solid--Cooley has great hands and Moss has the speed. Fred Davis is the big riser, coming in at 76 with great catch ratings. In what could be a precursor to what happens in training camp, Malcolm Kelly is the lowest rated receiver on the roster. Devin Thomas' ratings are not that special, but I think for the average Madden player, you should be able to utilize his speed and hands as a #2 or #3 receiver.

I am unprepared to consider anyone on this offense "snubbed". After all, we were 4-12 with all kinds of problems on the offensive side of the ball. For the full list of ratings, courtesy of ESPN The Life, follow the jump.

Thank you

for the list, I was looking for these.

Does anybody have Jammal Brown’s Madden stats for this year?

by preppiejack on Jul 12, 2010 11:10 AM EDT reply actions

My understanding is that he is 90+

Which makes him a huge addition on the Madden field.

by Ken Meringolo on Jul 12, 2010 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions

On this top OL list

J. Brown, OT, is 91 – http://www.pastapadre.com/2010/06/24/madden-11-player-ratings-top-10-ol
Jonathan Stinchcomb (NO) – 90 on Madden and rated as 10th OT in 2009 on Pro Football Focus with an overall rating of 11.5 which was just below D’Brickashaw Ferguson and just above Kareem McKenzie. If this means anything Jammal Brown should be alright. The top ten list from these two sources differ quite a bit, i.e., Clady was 16th and Roos 37th. on PFF in 2009. J. Brown was 47th on the 2008 PFF.

With the exception of OVR, the other figures are from Madden 10. SWR and JMP were new additions for Madden 11. Since Brown missed the 2009 season, his INJ rating should drop from 94.

but I probably won’t get Madden this year anyway.

I bought last year’s and barely played

Yeah

Pretty harsh. But if you look at his actual kicking (91 power and 81 accuracy), it’s not that bad.

by BigOLinemen on Jul 12, 2010 11:20 AM EDT up reply actions

All you need in Madden is power anyways.

Accuracy has never had an impact for me as long as you can master the annually changing kick meter.

Insert something witty here.

REED DOUGHTY A 69!!!

WOW… DISRESPECTFUL.
He was the most consistent players in our secondary. And they rated Jim Leonard an 85 and Doughty is better than him. Doughty has about 15 more tackles in 9 less starts.
And And Andre Carters rating is just nonchalant for a man who had 11 sacks last seaon.

by JeanBaptiste on Jul 12, 2010 11:51 AM EDT reply actions

Andre Carter

Doesn’t make since. Unless it’s because he’s moved from DE to OLB. He dropped from an 84 to a 76 after an 11 sack season.

by SSBlitz on Jul 12, 2010 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

I understand, but like I said with Haynesworth, they have a bad rating system for 3-4 guys. Their system is based on 3-4, and Carter, as a 4-3 OLB isn’t good. He is a pass rushing guy and should be 80s, but their rating system has yet to adjust properly to each system.

by BigOLinemen on Jul 12, 2010 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

New Swagger rating.

Haha, pretty funny to see. Our most swaggered player is Haynesworth with 94.
I would’ve put Moss in the 95 range, the kid drips swag.

After LaRon Landry's intimidating 97 Hit Power

The rookie, Perry Riley, is regarded as our second hardest hitter with 90. I’d love to see that translate onto the actual field.

by SSBlitz on Jul 12, 2010 12:14 PM EDT reply actions

I watched a lot of LSU last year..

And I think that Riley was a great pick-up. The dude’s an animal.

by ATXSkinfan on Jul 12, 2010 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Also, if I were Kareem Moore

I’d be looking at my stats and wondering how he deserves a 57 injury rating. Noticeably lower than almost everyone, except Old Man Galloway.

by SSBlitz on Jul 12, 2010 12:15 PM EDT reply actions

I drafted a running back in Year 2 of Madden 2010 with a 31 injury rating

He gets injured at least once a game. So annoying.

The best is when a player gets a “career-ending injury” in the dynasty mode. That is too much reality for my taste. You mean to tell me I dropped $60+ on a game and my quarterback gets a career-ending vertebrae injury? That is complete BS (except when it happens to someone else’s team).

by Ken Meringolo on Jul 12, 2010 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd love to hear the players' reactions to their ratings.

Like the Red Snapper’s famous letter to EA.
I can picture Kareem looking at it and thinking “oh, they misdiagnosed me with brittle bone syndrome”.
Or Carlos Rogers going out and catching 100 balls a night to try and improve his hilarious 35 catch rating. Hahaha

by SSBlitz on Jul 12, 2010 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Also

Main reason Hanyesworth is low is because he is at DE, and their ratings for 3-4 DEs are pretty messed up. If you change Haynesworth to a DT he’d probably be at least 92, 93. He’ll be playing NT on my team whether he wants to or not.

You are giving away all of our secrets!

Another good one is to move OLB to DE. You can draft a mediocre OLB later and move him to DE where his rating almost always improves a good 7-10 points. That way, you can save yourself from drafting a pure DE higher up and use the pick on a luxury pick.

by Ken Meringolo on Jul 12, 2010 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions

YES

I would always grab Orakpo and throw him at DE. He’d go from like, 83 to 95. Ken, you have stolen my secrets.

I see how it could be a close call, but look at is this way. Would you agree that over the course of their careers Dallas has had, often considerably, more talent on the offensive side of the ball, yet Mc Nabb has been more successful……5 NFC championship games. Romo has won one(?) playoff game?

He's a 66 at RT.

I’m willing to bet it goes up when he’s moved to RG.

by SSBlitz on Jul 12, 2010 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Hicks, RBs

Hicks a 66, equal to Heyer – that’s a little discouraging. BMW 80 – bittersweet, considering. Rabach 74 – could lose job? O-line ratings suggest that we could still try to upgrade that unit, especially at RG. If we got a very good RG, Hicks could back up all the Gs and Ts, while Capers and Cook are trained intensively. The RBs – surprisingly high? Makes me re-think Parker. Colt a 59? My man will fix that in the pre-season. At least he’s ahead of Chris Wilson.

Orakpo

85??
That’ll go up pretty quick. That would be a one point increase from last year if I’m not mistaken…..that’s just….wow…….i guess he had a pretty average rookie year, wouldn’t you agree?

by 8vechkin on Jul 12, 2010 7:00 PM EDT reply actions

While I understand

85 is a pretty strong rating. Average NFL starter is like 75-80 on Madden. While I agree, I see him ending at at least 90, probably more, still. You can’t give a guy too much respect after only one year.

by BigOLinemen on Jul 12, 2010 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Agree

By itself, 11 sacks doesn’t scream dominant. But if you consider the Greg Blache hands-in-your-pants defense and the fact that he rushed on about half the passing plays, I think he deserves a 90.

Bored and broke.

Madden 11 spread sheets for NFL teams

are available for all of the NFL teams except the Vikings and Redskins at http://www.operationsports.com/forums/madden-nfl-football/425743-madden-nfl-11-complete-roster-ratings-falcons.html. I did find the spread sheet for the Redskins by using a Google search reskinsratings.xls. http://ll-100.ea.com/cem/u/f/GPO/easports.com/madden/madden10/redskins/ReskinsRatings.xls

The two 7th round OL, Selvish Capers and Erik Cook, are not listed.

I have no intention of playing Madden 11, but it seems obvious that they do not use the Combine results for speed, acceleration, and jumping. A good case is J. Meredith, Buffalo Bills, who had some of the best OL performances in the 2009 Combines. Hence I would not expect ratings for Capers to reflect his Combines either.
