Redskins sign Furrey to bolster receiving corps
Which is really a non-issue signing but a signing none the less, more important is the quote
The team made other roster moves Wednesday, releasing linebacker Alvin Bowen, defensive lineman Antoine Holmes, cornerback Marcus McCauley and tight end Sean Ryan.
This should mean all the Draft picks will be signed shortly!

The signing of Furrey is another indication that the Redskins
are not satisfied with their WR roster or that they see this guy as also being versatile for DB and for special teams. He started 2 games as a slot WR in 2009. He started at least 5 games for the Lions in 2007.
Temporarily the Team has 85 players including 6 unsigned drafted rookies and 2 restricted free agents. Trent Williams may be the last drafted rookie to sign, but the players with signed contracts are 79. That leaves way for one more signing without additional cuts for awhile.
Furrey has a fascinating history
Furrey was a very solid two way player. Undrafted, went to the XFL and then the Arena league, filled in at Safety for the Rams and had two key picks several years ago, parlayed one great season with the Lions under Mike Martz, who loves shifty slot receivers in his system almost as much as he hates TEs (remember not to draft any of Chicago’s TEs in your Fantasy league, guys), into a bit of an overblown three year contract. But Detroit sucks at everything, and that was on turf — his shift to Cleveland was a disaster, but everything they’ve done in the last couple years has been terrible.
Furrey is one of those hard-working James Thrash types on teams, good size and decent speed. He was completely a pretty much ideal veteran fourth WR. But assuming the top three are set (Thomas, Kelly, Moss), it’d be a real shame to not keep any of the young guys. Here’s hoping Austin makes it as a returner, and Furrey replaces a guy like Galloway (who even if he has a good camp, is five years older and doesn’t have his legs any more).
its just been sooooo long since this guy had any impact on a team...
Dunno about this one…

It's all a crap shoot
for now. I’m just waiting to see who makes the final 53 and the practice squad.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Competition
It’s better to have 10 average WRs duking it out for a spot then 5 of them….he has to be an upgrade for Joey Galloway.
Hogs Haven. On Twitter. And Facebook.
A finalist for the 2009 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award
A man of that caliber is always a good addition to the team. If only as a role model.
He can show the other players
how to pose like the trophy a la Desmond Howard’s immortal Heisman pose.
It’s not much, but every little step we take going forward helps.

You know it's given for volunteer nd charity work, right?
Players like Furrey, Cooley, Fletcher, Moss, and McNabb (and others) are creating an atmosphere of philanthropists on our team. A team to be proud of.
