Since the trade for Jammal Brown the voting has shifted.
The spread between Selvish Capers and Terrance Austin has increased and Perry Riley is also gaining on Capers. It will likely be in 2011 or 2012 when Capers and Cook make significant contributions to the Team's offense.

Austin is definitely the most likely, logical choice
He will likely handle returns, punt or kick, and that is an immediate impact. Riley looks to be a strong player and a potential replacement for London Fletcher, but McIntosh and Fletcher are two well-conditioned guys who won’t give up many reps. With Jammal Brown here, Capers doesn’t have a chance at starting. I thought maybe towards the end of this year he’d have a shot, but now it is hard to say. He looks to be a back-up for a long time. Cook is a work in progress, but he even has a small chance of falling into a starting job if Mike Williams and Artis Hicks become injured and/or struggle.
Since mid-June
and after the Brown trade (June 23), the graph on the upper left of the HH home page has taken a upward move as fans have become more optimistic. Just eyeballing it, the upward shift moved from about 50 to 65 percent. It would take some demonstration that the WR roster was OK and Haynesworth has gotten his act together to improve much more. Most fans now think the team will be better than an 8-8 win-loss record. Let Scott E has another glass of cool-aide.
Austin has the best chance
to start from Day 1. The team has needed a reliable KR/PR for a long time, and I won’t be surprised if he gets reps at the spot right away.
Riley has good speed and movement and he impressed at LSU, but I think he’ll need some time to learn where he fits. London Fletcher should be able to teach him good decision-making and how to sniff out trick plays.
As for the two OL, I think both will sit (barring an unforeseen injury to a starter) in 2010. But if one of them makes it as a starter, my money’s on Capers. His run-blocking strength and athletic ability make him a good fit for Shanahan’s zone scheme and he has a good health history. More likely though, that he and Cook stay career backups, which is fine because the Redskins still need all the depth they can get.
Capers was a peculiarity in the draft.
Notice on the next to the last column the asterisk for grade – *Grade: Rating assigned based on projected draft value. The OL in the table were shown in descending grade. Capers grade was 6.7. There were 20 OL selected before Capers with lower grades (including blank). The OL with grades closest to Capers were selected in the 2nd and 3rd rounds [John Jerry (7.2), Zane Beadles (7.0) and Jared Veldheer (6.9)] .
