Rumor has it, Brian Westbrook is being bribed by Mike Shanahan

News flash, for those of you that don't know from time to time LJP gets a scoop from his reliable source. My reliable source has informed me that Brian Westbrook is trying to work out a deal, for the Redskins to keep his brother if he signs with us. Most people have assumed that Byron would be cut this off season, since he is a bottom feeder at DB.

This is what I would call true "brotherly love" helping your brother stay gainfully employed in the NFL. I could be wrong and this "conspiracy theory" is just that, a theory. What do you guys think ? Is my reliable source actually way off on this one? At what cost should we keep a under performing DB (Byron) in order to sign his brother (Brian)

By the way I would love to have Brian if he is healthy. I think by bringing him in, our Rb's will need to work even harder to earn a spot. I am starting to like this competition thing going on at Redskins Park.

skins, Most of us know why we will not be able to keep Fred Davis and Chris Cooley. Fred Davis will want Cooley money next year so somebody will have to go.

I think I have posted this several times, and you have read it several times. So why should I need to keep posting this as a defense of my arguement ?

skinsfan28… you are right, the writing is on the wall, one of those two TE will be out after the season. I say let’s offer a first round pick ( 2012 just in case the world ends)and Davis for Andre Johnson, LOL. He fills two quotas (wr, another U player). Then we have Two U boys at the WR position that can run down deep passes.

magic, The funny thing is that Shanahan talks about already discussing Brian to Byron.

He has mentioned this in more than one interview already. Shanahan talks about how he wants Brian. If anyone doesn’t think Byron has some leverage they are out of their mind.

I wouldnt be so sure about that. Lets take a look at the other CBs currently on your roster…

1) Deangelo Hall
2) Justin Tyron
3) Kevin “Ive played 4 games” Barnes
4) and there is uuuuuuh… uuuuum… is Leigh Torrence still around?? No, shit

I probably should have put Carlos McConcretehands on the list but I still think both sides are looking for any possible way to avoid working together next year. As much as you dislike him I think you guys are stuck with him because there is no way you go into a season with only CBs on the roster (1 of them having played 4 games of special teams).

I don’t know what you mean, man. We have Hall and Rogers at the corners, Buchanan nickle, and 4th and 5th Barnes and Tryon. Pretty solid. Hall is solid and a playmaker, Carlos is a terrific cover corner, Buchanan is experienced, Barnes is talented and Tryon had a pretty good year. I don’t think we have to upgrade this year. By the way, Byron never showed anything, and shouldn’t encumber the roster. I think LJP’s suggestion that we might have to keep Byron to get Brian is ridiculous. One simple reason is that Brian doesn’t have any leverage. The Skins might be willing to give him a shot for the veteran’s minimum, but that’s as far as they would go.
