First of all, I would like to say sorry to all my fans and enemies that I've been gone so long (I know you guys had to miss me and probably lost without me). My laptop is out of commision and I still found time to use a cousins computer address what has been irking my nerves for awhile now. Okay so on to the point of thia post.
I pretty sure that Haslett (our new defensive coordinator) is pretty good at what he does but I have developed a descrepancy against him lately. From my point of view, when a coach comes to a new team they should look at what roster, analyze each player, look at the teams past season, and then make figure out what/how you could improve this teams performance. What I dont like is when a coach enters a new team and brings their prefferred scheme with them just to force the scheme on the new team.
Now I'm an open minded person and would'nt mind switching to a 3-4 defense if it fits the personnel and the players well but in this situation, it doesn't. We had a dam good defense last year...especially considering how awful our offense was so why do we need to switch to a 3-4....beause that's Haslett's prefferred scheme? Are you serious! We are a deep playoff team sticking to the 4-3. Now I've read some of you all posts (even though I haven's been able to write my own) and I'm hearing things like Jarmon moving to OLB, Carter moving to OLB, and of course Haynesworth playing nose guard or DE. Not to mention pro bowler Fletcher now and ILB rather than MLB. If I'm not mistaken we drafted Jarmon because he was a really good DT with great potential and we brought in in Haynesworth to be a 4-3 DT to cause havoc in the run and occasionally rush the passer. Also Carter doesn't want to play OLB coming off his best year as an DE. It just seems like this new 3-4 is causing more problems than it will fix. Like I said earler, a good coach should never force their preferred scheme on any roster, it should be more of doing what is best for the team. So in Haslett better make this work a get some of our players morale back up or he will be feeling the heat sooner than later.
