Redskins Sign Another Player You've Never Heard Of; DT Greg Peterson
Greg Peterson | DT
Height: 6-5 Weight: 315 Age: 26
Born: 1/21/1984
Draft: 5th round pick of 2007 (TAMPA)
College: North Carolina Central
Experience: 5th season
The Jaguars did not tender Peterson this year, which made him available for the Redskins. Tampa released him due to an injury settlement in training camp where Greg had slow progress rehabbing his injured knee. The Bucs also needed the roster spot, so they cut him. His stats are not impressive, but at this point in the game there is nothing to lose bringing a guy in to see what he can do. The only thing you have to lose is when you sign Free Agents to $60+ million contracts regardless if they are good fits for your system.

Definitely won't hurt to have a body in minicamp
And maybe even in Training Camp.
Of course, after that, anything can happen if he’s decent or we suck at DT enough…..
he is a Allen guy from Tampa...
they have an idea of what he can and cannot do…
Who knows, defensive linemen have been converted to offense before. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS, FIGHT FOR OLD D.C.
And visa versa
Make Mike Williams a NT. He has the strength and lateral movement isn’t so important.

He depth never hurt
If he works hard and looks good at camp and pre-season it could only make our team better, plus I don’t think he cost much.
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
With his size
He could make a great run stopper. But who knows what they plan to do with him.

Peterson
He was a 5th round pick, so somebody thought he had something. I wonder what went wrong in his career, and is it correctible? Certainly doesn’t hurt to give him a look. More promising than an un-drafted walk-on.
a knee injury happened...
idk just seems like a roster spot to me no big deal here….
abra-cadabra homes!
Agreed.
Looking for depth at DL, probably NT especially. He can battle with Bryant to see who plays it better. (We know Kemoeatu can do it, when he’s healthy).
on that note...
I hope that this is not a sign that Kemoeatu wont be ready as soon as we were hoping/counting on
I don't think they would sign him if he was far off from recovery.
I think his injury just adds extra importance to having a capable backup behind him.
Kedric Golston is that backup
Skins just signed him

Free agent defensive linemen additions
There will be more defensive linemen picked up as UDFA rookies. The talent level of some of these rookies may well be better than Bryant and Peterson. There is some experience level edge for B and P, but we will have to see how things shake out. So far Kemoeatu is the only off season free agent that has been a starter and is likely to contribute significantly. If A. Montgomery’s knee has improved since last season, he will be hard to displace by these recent additions.
