RT Tony Pashos to Visit Redskins Park
49ers RT Tony Pashos is on his way to visit the Redskins. Pashos only played 5 games for the 49ers last year after breaking his shoulder blade, but statistically he played well. OL Coach for the Redskins, Chris Foerster, certainly knows him well from his time there last year. It’s obvious the Redskins can’t draft an entire OL this year, so we’ll see what comes of his visit. He's relatively young, and I think could make for a could hold-over while the Skins take the next few years to draft youth. Stay tuned.

I could live with this at RT for a bit
that guy from GB? Not so much

So much for small, quick guys
for the ZBS. This guy is huge.

Yea, it's clear we need to sit back a bit
Skins obviously have a plan, we’re only seeing pieces of it and jumping to conclusions….it is what we do best here though.

Better then best
Kevin, we are better then best at second-guessing, first-guessing, foretelling and psychic readings. We are MASTERS of all these.
Then reality occurs
and we adjust accordingly. :)

Indeed
I’ve been called out on twitter world several times for hasty predictions.

I had a back and forth with him about DC...
He said he never bought a house in DC, but when I tweeted his tweet that said he did , he just responded “OK”

he didn't even have the decency
to respond with “That wasn’t me.”

Aren't all predictions to some degree
hasty by definition?

If they weren't
Wouldn’t that just be diction?
I'm thinking more along the lines of fiction

At least this guy is under the agre of 30
We don’t need any older guys with injury problems, espeically with knees. We already had offensive linemen with injury problems and they retired and were cut yesterday.
Change?
At least we’re going after OL and not dumping everything on Peppers. These are the best available tackles…. a step in the right direction from our FO I think. Not sold on Clifton either, but Pashos is a def upgrade from Heyer.
Reminder
Not because they are listed as OT means they will play Tackle in Shanny scheme there are a lot of OT that have converted to OG… could be done here …that guy from the packers could make that change
A good thing
and its what we’ve been asking for – get as many guys signed, drafted, tied up and into camp. We can sort out the starters and backups by position later and use this draft and next to bring in younger guys for the transition back to Hog Central.

How much should the team tie up in OL budget?
Budget for lack of a better word in a non-cap season. If the Skins get Clifton for $7m and Pashos for $5m that would not be too bad.
A 2nd round OL would not be too bad either. Rex Hadnot is also a possibility. An additional 2 rookies get the figure up to 6 new OL.
More could be happening in Allen-Shanny’s year one than may have been anticipated.

Don't forget we already signed Leichensteiger(sp?)
So that would be 7, probably too much to hope for. I suspect they will still go for a RB and/or a defensive back unless they get lucky in FA. My bet is a drafted RB, not FA, just to clarify.

I still want Okung
at #4. Pashos may be an upgrade from Heyer but it still isn’t a permanent solution. I’m guessing we’re not going to have a clear picture of whats going on until summer.
As sad as I was to see the names of some of those cuts yesterday I can’t help but feel a bit optimistic that it looks like we finally left behind the “one player away” mentality. Addition by subtraction needs to be the new Redskins mantra until we’ve gotten a core of solid guys through the draft.
Yes, yes, yes.
It’s been nerve racking, but once you settle down and think about it, they are doing the right thing by leaps and bounds – so far…

Remember
Chances of signing both Tackles is decent but not guaranteed. Okung played both RT and LT. Okung can play whichever is open. I’m trying to stay optimistic. No QB in the 1st. No Claussen ever.
yes yes and yes…this is a very deep draft for tackles and we have the 4th and 36th pick. we can lock up our offensive line for the next decade. guards and centers are much easiier to come by. if you want a QB, trade cooley and get another first round pick. come on dan!!!

Could we trade our 2011 First rounder for Gaither from Baltimore?
He was only tendered a first rounder I believe but we are obviously not giving up the #4 pick for him this year. The following years pick? I’d be tempted to try and work that out with the Ravens.
Redskins came in at #25 in the all decade power ranking. We deserve better than 30 year old replacements for our 34 year old linemen.

70-90, 2 Playoff Appearances, 1 Playoff Win
Best Season: 2005, 10-6, Lost NFC Divisional Round
Worst Season: 2009, 4-12, Missed Playoffs
Ah, the Washington Redskins, the team that has given meaning to the phrase, all hype and no substance.
Dan Snyder’s Redskins spent the 2000s creating high expectations with big-name coaching hires and free-agent acquisitions, but all those big splashes led to very little on field success.
The second Joe Gibbs era produced the team’s only two playoff appearances, and lone playoff win in a largely unsuccessful decade.

In effect this draft
has to be replacements for the replacements. Call it a two year plan.

Wouldn't it be cool if
we drafted someone in the 4th or 5th round that was relatively unheard of and he became a total stud/star? Viva la difference!

Guess Pashos left without a deal too...
Evidentally we’re gonna let Pashos get away too, after he and Clifton(who resigned with GB) the drop off at OT is very significant This cautious approach may come back to bite us in the rear with limited draft picks, limited UFA’s and a ton of holes.
Yea, it seems like they are either really low-balling or
trying to get these guys to sign heavily incentivized contracts. I believe they are really taking a look at a hard cap in 2011. It is smart business, but this year is looking like another brutal season.
