Shanahan said it himself that he won't name a starter anytime soon, which spells competition
This is why the Rex Grossman signing was such a brilliant move...he knows the offense, it adds much needed depth, and it makes for good competition. The day Rex was signed he made it clear that he was trying to salvage his career and get a fresh start with the skins, basically this guy plans on starting. I'm not a big Rex fan but what I do like about the guy is that he WILL THROW THE BALL and WILL THROW DEEP whether our receivers are wide open or not which in my opinion may reveal just how good our young receivers are. On the negative this gunslinging attitude will also lead to more interceptions but the defense will still have to respect the deep ball. On the other end of the stick, JC seems to accept the challenge and feels he knows what he has to do. This is really good to hear this from JC, better than last year when he said he would want to be traded if we drafted a rookie qb. JC also stated that he wants to lead this team to the playoffs and have a pro bowl year, which is everything coaches and fans love hear from their qb. So one which is determined to rekindle his career in a familiar offense and the other motivated to show the coaches and the world that he is the teams franchise qb for years to come. May not be the most talented qb battle but I'll be tuned into it. One things for sure...I do trust in Shanahan to make the best decision.
