Dream Draft
Not hoping to make this into a huge post/deal but here is my dream draft-list for the skins this year (number corresponds to round):
1. Russel Okung OT
2. Vlad Ducasse OG
4. Dan Lafevour QB
5. Myron Rolle S (maybe won't drop this far, but he's a genius and was the best player out of high school his year)
7. Joique Bell RB (also might not be available, but he was a D-II player I believe so it's possible)
Anyways, I'm no expert by any means, but I just wanted to see what the faithful had to say -- this is the first year I have really even paid attention to the draft past the first round.

I hope Rolle drops that far...
I’d love to snag him in the fifth because I think he’ll be a really solid pro. Problem is, he played SS at FSU, and we’ve got Horton at SS and Landry who should be playing SS. What we really need is somebody who can play FS so we can stick Landry back where he started and see if he really is the great SS we thought we were drafting.
Although Rolle played SS, I’m confident that he’s plenty of football smarts and enough speed to make the switch to FS.
In general,
Anyone who played SS for FSU has the speed to switch to FS. I like his smarts and character. Would take him in a heartbeat.
I would switch your Dan LeFevour pick for a coverage OLB or 3-4 compatible ILB. (whatever that means.)
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
I'd definitely take LeFevour in the 4th
and Rolle in the 5th. I think they’d both be steals at those positions. At this point though- in my mind, if we get Okung (or Bulaga, I like him alot too) in the 1st then everything else is just icing on the cake.
Yes with the icing bit
Not so much with the LeFevour pick, but if we are going to take a QB, that’s the guy I’d take this year. Rather see some other position addressed, though.

In the 4th though
its hard to expect someone to come in and start, so the likelihood of us filling an immediate need with this pick is slim.
If we pick QB
at 4, we are just essentially bumping Colt off the roster and not really improving the team short term. Could be a long shot like Brady, though.

I like LeFevour's potential
alot more than Brennan’s. So much so that I really hope we take a chance on him to give him 2 or 3 years of tutoring under Shanahan^2.
I'd prefer to see us the ride the QB situation out for this year
than spend a draft pick on a project. I think we should give Campbell the year to see if he’s worth signing long term or whether we should go after QB in the draft next year. I realize that takes a year of grooming away if we do end up going to the QB route next year, but I think we have more pressing needs
I gotta disagree
While I’m with you that 4th rounders aren’t relied on to step in and start, I don’t think 4th round picks should all be projects. We could easily pick up a RB in the 4th (Blount, Hardesty if he happens to be there) and have them contribute out of the gate. I’m seeing drafting LeFevour like Colt Brennan round 2 just a couple rounds early, that’s what’s tripping me up about LeFevour
LeFevour is a much better prospect than Brennan was
he’s bigger with better mechanics and more athleticism. I’d rather take him as a developmental project than eventually spend a 1st on a QB next year or somewhere down the road.
draft
Yeah, I think I’d much rather see us draft a rb like Hardesty in the 4th than Lefevour based on our need for a rb of the future…..also I think a Rt in the second is more of a need than another guard….
It is not always so much of a jump for the versatile OL.
for some college guards to get picked to play tackle in the NFL, i.e., maybe Mike Iupati in 2010 draft . Some established NFL o-linemen make this kind of switch, i.e., Andrew Whitworth, starter in 2009 at LT; 2008 LG.
Michael Oher 2009 RT 11 games; LT 5 games
Sebastian Vollmer 2009 LT 8 games; RT 4 games
Kevin Shaffer 2009 RT 5 games; LT 4 games
Anthony Collins 2009 RT 11 games; LT 2 games
Doug Free 2009 RT 8 games; LT 2 games
Failed the test at Left tackle:
Alex Barron 2009 RT; 2008 LT
Levi Brown 2009 RT; 2008 LT
Stephon Heyer 2009 RT13 games; LT 3 games
I can't say
that I would be upset with any of those picks.
Now, I prob won’t go out ad buy a Okung #76 jersey, but besides that I’m fine with this.
I like Okung and Ducasse, who would be RT.
I think the team can get a starter this year in the 4th. There will be good RBs, DEs, OLBs, and DBs available in the 4th and 5th. Rolle is strictly a SS, wouldn’t take him.
Bell would be a good pick in the 7th.
Why do people think we should take LaFevour?
If he isn’t good enough to make the first round why should we force ourselves to pick him. I understand many people think he is underrated, but no one believes that he is going to be an elite QB. Why not wait until next year? Locker and other elite QBs will be available. LeFevour probably wont even be as good as Campbell.
Get a Tackle now to solidify our O-Line for next year’s first round QB.
Orakpo!!! Russel Okung next year!
Believe it or not
quarterbacks that aren’t 1st round picks can go on to have solid careers in the NFL.
Oh Yea, and
Ducasse isn’t nearly good enough to be drafted with the 37th pick so many other better linemen will be available.
Orakpo!!! Russel Okung next year!
