Both Herm Edwards and Dick "Tears of Joy" Vermeil have praised LJ, so I don't know what to believe anymore. Both of these guys have been out of the league for some time, but as we've been iterating in WAS for 5+ years, competition at every position is a good thing.

how can I believe him?

When he says “If they have any sort of offensive line…”, well not so much. How long has he been out of the league???

I like the idea of people earning starting positions. But I still don’t agree with this signing, even if he does pan out.

“He’s sometimes his own worst enemy,” Vermeil said. “He’s a good person. He can, when he wants, have a tremendous work ethic.”

If it pans out,

what do you disagree with? Not every starter in the NFL is a saint; or even likable in a lot of instances.

I understand not everyone in the NFL or even on the Redskins is a saint, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

And I don’t cheer for people that beat/threaten with a gun/spit on women…. Just not my cup of tea.

Vermeil's a little biased here. Didn't he coach LJ?

It seems like coaches

over-support former players (and underling coaches) or turn on them. I’m taking everything with a grain of salt, but noting he did not trash LJ, which he most likely would have done if there wasn’t some merit in his comments.

for three and a half million per year, it was a good signing. he will play well for us if he has any pride. and i agree, the third time is the last time. so the price and the timing line up. and i like he is an accomplished veteran who will push portis. it will be fun seeing who wins the carries. man, i just wish we dont dicker around and get two legitimate tackles this year. we need it sooo bad.

Exactly

Where are they now? I understand Vermeil got old but Herman coached his way out of the league

vermeil said LJ would “take over” the starting job

Yea, I shouldn't have included the quotes

But they’re the same…

"I am excited about starting 2009. We are looking forward to an outstanding year. We're on our way. We have a lot of healthy players this year." - Vinny Cerrato

ok, my bad. i was trying to use his words there

As long as it's productive, I could care less.

We essentually have two guys that have been known to not work hard in the offseason, and are distractions.

Oh joy.
