OK, now it's official
The Shanny’s have to be pure geniuses, because I in my infinite wisdom did not see this one coming in any way shape for form. Sean Ryan: TE!! Maybe they want to use him as backup tackle This has to mean either Cooley or Davis is gone and they want to use 2blockingTE run sets, correct? Can’t see them dishing out Yoder….??
I’m just befuddled. This is going to be a real interesting off-season.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
I'm thinking Yoder should be the HB
He’s a better blocker, better hands…and imagine the possibility of putting him in motion out of the backfield.

Did you mean FB
and Sellers is gone? What’s Sellers contract status/amount?
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
yea, FB..sorry.

Terl made a point that Ryan has played HB/FB too..

Ryan has not played much for
any of the teams he has been with. He apparently played a blocking back (FB) while with the 49ers.

I just thought Yoder was
terribly productive AND our best blocking TE. Are you saying they don’t plan on trying to keep him – that it’s a foregone conclusion they won’t spend the bucks or is Ryan really super good (I doubt it).
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Read the article
that Kevin linked to in the story. That’s all I know about Ryan, and it discusses your question directly.
Sorry, I picked up the story at Arrowhead Pride
which didn’t relate any aspects of the situation from our perspective. So, dummy me.
I, of course, really like Yoder and still don’t know what’s up in Shanny’s head.
Life as a Skins fan certainly has gotten complicated.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Yoder's solid, nothing special
It’s not crazy to me that a new coach thinks he could find someone better.
"By far the worst performers on the team are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
Especially someone of the same talents
but much younger. I do like Yoder as well, but I can understand if we don’t bring him back.
Yoder = 31; Ryan 29....well OK
At least I did ask all the right questions in my initial, yet typical ScottE knee-jerk reaction!!
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
I think that as an UFA
Touchdown Todd will probably not be resigned. Not a big deal to me. I like Yoder, but I don’t see any reason to be attached to any of the bit players on this team. The new regime is gonna bring their own guys in, get younger, and reduce payroll. To be honest, I thought you were kidding in your original post…
I've always liked him
and it was my initial reaction. Maybe it’s a sad thing to say, but he was probably our most productive offensive player not named The Punter.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Three TE sets and a TE at FB
Playing to JC17’s strenght of dump passes and always setup to run the ball-Brilliant
This is starting to sound more like the Hogs
than even the Hogs were…if that makes any sense?
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
At least we have a clue now that
they will have a jumbo package. Always one of my favorites.

Too bad we missed out on Cribbs
Then he could hike it to himself. He can do everything!

i think they almost have to trade cooley the way davis played and considering all the other team needs.
by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:22 PM EST up reply actions
yes but neither cooley or davis are great blockers. i think the 2nd te will be a better block, less explosive receiver

Nice to see that Rocky M is coming around
Sounds like family/agent counseling has paid off and he is getting his head geared up correctly.

one for two ain't bad
still waiting on a statement from a DB….

Matt Terl
had a story about Rocky yesterday (I think) where he didn’t seem disgruntled at all, and the fact that he was around Redskin’s Park joking with Terl suggests he’s training to get ready for the season, to me at least.
An even better sign of recalcitrance
Not Skins fault that the FA situation is as it is. Wonder if Carlos Head of Stone will ever come to the same conclusion.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
I read Rocky's comments as simple disappointment that he didn't get more money
Which is, I think, a sentiment most of us can agree with.
"By far the worst performers on the team are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
It's understandable he was disappointed
As a pro in this league probably better to mime it than talk to the press about it, at least initially.

Has anyone heard any rumblings
of how Okung did on the other two workouts?
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
The other 2 times weren't made immediately available
Don’t know if they’ll put it out in an official release or not.
Yea, I saw that
but you know how some people put it out there in twitter world and stuff like that, nothing official. Was just wondering if anybody came across it is all.
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
he is a beast and very likely not slipping past the lions at #2
by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:24 PM EST up reply actions
So nearly everyone thinks Okung is a monster?
Then there’s no way I pass on him (if he’s there) to take a FS or RB!
This.
For the love of all things holy, it seems as if Okung will be a beast. If he’s there (and I’ve heard significant rumblings that DET is looking his way at #2), it should take us all of 13 nanoseconds to get the card with his name on it up to Goodell. Add a signing of Lilja, Foote, and insert veteran RB name here, and I will consider this a good start to the rebuilding of a Skins team. I’m digging this approach.
Yea, it's looking very likely DET will take him.

That would stink
I know they need a tackle, but it’s going to be very hard to let Suh pass the Lions by. A lot of posturing and postulating going on right now, I think there’s still a good chance Okung falls to us.
STL may purposely let the #1 pick timeout, then nab Bradford #2...
would save a lot of $$

Would that then just bump every pick down 1 slot on the pay scale?
essentially making 33 picks in the 1st round?
No, that means STL can pick whenever they want
And as many teams can before them as fast as they can

as long as that team isnt picking the same person
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
So you mean
not just letting the #1 time run out, but also waiting until after Detroit picks, since they’re sure Detroit won’t go QB.
If they really wanted Bradford, that probably wouldn't be smart.
Detroit has already offered up their pick for a trade, and if Bradford is still in play; then several teams will, in all likelyhood, jump to grab him.

lol- he would still be the first person taken in the draft. but that would be funny!
by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:25 PM EST up reply actions
Would be a smart move financially
But your new franchise QB might not appreciate being shafted out of a few mil guaranteed when he was rightfully the first overall pick. Maybe not a good way to start the relationship.
Serious business.
clausen is just not worth a #4…imo…trade down? what do you think?
by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:25 PM EST reply actions
Trading back just doesn't happen at #4
Too much money and too much to give up to get there. Bulaga will be a good alternative if Okung is off. Maybe someone falls in love with DT McCoy and trades up. If we take Claussen I’m bandwagoning Who Dat Nation.
He's nowhere near his physical prime yet
and is already a beast. He could lock down our LT spot for 12 years or more
Ok, I'll bite
Danny, if we don’t get Okung, you can double down on the jerseys Carver buys by getting Bulaga.
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
can't forget those of course :)
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
maybe not but someone could be willing to trade up to grab suh or mccoy. i think that is pretty possible actually. they are both really highly rated
by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:35 PM EST reply actions
I definitely don't want
a QB, but if we did take Claussen, I wouldn’t believe that it was Danny’s decision. This free agency has thoroughly dispelled that notion. Nope, if we get a QB, it’s solely because Shanny wants to put his stamp on the franchise. And, like I said, it’s not what I want, but I will still trust in ShanAllen. I am content on giving them at least 1 entire offseason worth of “benefit of the doubt.”
Of course, this all goes out the window if we go safety or CB.
OK now
don’t go overboard. I was being realistic, mentioning the positions most likely to go top 5. If we picked a WR (I’m not even gonna entertain the TE thought) I would be the first one to Redskins park with a Shanahan effigy.
Cross Larry Foote off the list...

so free agents really
only came here for the money huh?
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
Thats what its looking like
And we are doing our best to break that stereotype by low-balling everyone who we invite in for a visit.
Hope you guys are right, Shanny.
even if they're not right
that’s really sad.
All the times bammas came here talking about they always wanted to play here because of the rich tradition, they were just countin the money in their hands while the camera was zoomed in on their face.
SpottieOttieDopaliscious
It's ALWAYS been about the money
every team, every player.
with only a handful of exceptions.
"By far the worst performers on the team are in the front office." – Sally Jenkins
Very true
The whole tradition angle is just to please the fans.
On the other hand, I think players do care about how they are treated by an organization and certain teams and coaches develop reputations. When it comes down to two teams offering similar contracts, the player is gonna choose the team that he’s heard takes care of its own, treats veterans with respect, has a good locker room.
Redskins have probably had the wrong reputation on that side for a long time, and the money covered a lot of it up. I trust the regime, and I’m not gonna criticize not giving Willie Parker $5 million … but it will be worth watching who actually comes to visit if this trend of not signing anyone continues.
that's OK
he’ll regret it later. Both Arizona and Pittsburgh will be taking steps back this year with new QB’s under center.

Benny had two buddies at the club with him, both cops from PA who swear nothing inappropriate happened. Given that no criminal charges were filed in Las Vegas and that this new thing is just an investigation, we should adopt the innocent ’til proven guilty pose.
I have heard people at his college say he was a total predatory douche-bag (maybe not quite so strong). He may be the type that doesn’t fathom “NO!” Or, he should be the poster boy for Target.

I’m not the one trying him, so it’s OK for me to form an opinion. And my opinion is, he’s guilty. Sorry if that sounds crude, but there are just too many signs pointing one way here.

What else would you expect them to do? I guess them being cops could lead you to believe that they would “respect the law” here, but that’s a little too idealic for me. Should his judgement be questioned for partying? No way. But his judgement should be questioned for being in the girls bathroom. At the VERY least, he should no better because of being accused before.
Girls bathroom
is new info to me. There is a give and take between going out for a good time and then doing totally stupid shit. Girls bathroom (with his history – alleged or otherwise) crosses the line.

The why wasn’t he doing something else question sounds like a really great question to ask, but I’d be pissed if I had to answer that. No reason in the world I should be preventing myself from going out and meeting girls if I were his age – even as a celebrity I have rights. Correct?
Yes, the lab results if there were any bodily fluids involved may tell a different tale, but we shouldn’t condemn until we know the facts. Of course, as HH regulars, we all agree that that would be NO FUN WHATSOEVER!! LOL.

hahahaha….Yeah I always felt that way about the Leinart photos as we are roughly the same age and I’d hate to not be able to drink beers at a pool party.

Most of the uproar about the Leinhart photos
was pure jealousy IMO. Of course, he could have done himself a favor and learned the playbook a bit better and spent more time working on his game. Had he been more successful on the field, we would be grabbing legs and throwing MORE girls into his hot tub.
