OK, now it's official

The Shanny’s have to be pure geniuses, because I in my infinite wisdom did not see this one coming in any way shape for form. Sean Ryan: TE!! Maybe they want to use him as backup tackle This has to mean either Cooley or Davis is gone and they want to use 2blockingTE run sets, correct? Can’t see them dishing out Yoder….??

I’m just befuddled. This is going to be a real interesting off-season.

I'm thinking Yoder should be the HB

He’s a better blocker, better hands…and imagine the possibility of putting him in motion out of the backfield.

Ryan has not played much for

any of the teams he has been with. He apparently played a blocking back (FB) while with the 49ers.

Yoder is an unrestricted free agent

why can’t you see them dishing out Yoder?

by CarverM on Mar 11, 2010 10:16 AM EST up reply actions

I just thought Yoder was

terribly productive AND our best blocking TE. Are you saying they don’t plan on trying to keep him – that it’s a foregone conclusion they won’t spend the bucks or is Ryan really super good (I doubt it).

Sorry, I picked up the story at Arrowhead Pride

which didn’t relate any aspects of the situation from our perspective. So, dummy me.

I, of course, really like Yoder and still don’t know what’s up in Shanny’s head.

Life as a Skins fan certainly has gotten complicated.

It’s not crazy to me that a new coach thinks he could find someone better.

I think that as an UFA

Touchdown Todd will probably not be resigned. Not a big deal to me. I like Yoder, but I don’t see any reason to be attached to any of the bit players on this team. The new regime is gonna bring their own guys in, get younger, and reduce payroll. To be honest, I thought you were kidding in your original post…

he is a beast and very likely not slipping past the lions at #2

by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:24 PM EST up reply actions

So nearly everyone thinks Okung is a monster?

Then there’s no way I pass on him (if he’s there) to take a FS or RB!

by aFan4Life on Mar 11, 2010 11:21 AM EST reply actions

This.

For the love of all things holy, it seems as if Okung will be a beast. If he’s there (and I’ve heard significant rumblings that DET is looking his way at #2), it should take us all of 13 nanoseconds to get the card with his name on it up to Goodell. Add a signing of Lilja, Foote, and insert veteran RB name here, and I will consider this a good start to the rebuilding of a Skins team. I’m digging this approach.

by AinAkron on Mar 11, 2010 11:40 AM EST up reply actions

Yea, it's looking very likely DET will take him.

That would stink

I know they need a tackle, but it’s going to be very hard to let Suh pass the Lions by. A lot of posturing and postulating going on right now, I think there’s still a good chance Okung falls to us.

I do too

and if not then I’d rather have another awesome DT (Suh or McCoy) than a 1st round FS or RB.

STL may purposely let the #1 pick timeout, then nab Bradford #2...

So you mean

not just letting the #1 time run out, but also waiting until after Detroit picks, since they’re sure Detroit won’t go QB.

If they really wanted Bradford, that probably wouldn't be smart.

Detroit has already offered up their pick for a trade, and if Bradford is still in play; then several teams will, in all likelyhood, jump to grab him.

Too much money and too much to give up to get there. Bulaga will be a good alternative if Okung is off. Maybe someone falls in love with DT McCoy and trades up. If we take Claussen I’m bandwagoning Who Dat Nation.

by les boulez bomber on Mar 11, 2010 12:35 PM EST reply actions

I definitely don't want

a QB, but if we did take Claussen, I wouldn’t believe that it was Danny’s decision. This free agency has thoroughly dispelled that notion. Nope, if we get a QB, it’s solely because Shanny wants to put his stamp on the franchise. And, like I said, it’s not what I want, but I will still trust in ShanAllen. I am content on giving them at least 1 entire offseason worth of “benefit of the doubt.”

Of course, this all goes out the window if we go safety or CB.

by CJHutch on Mar 11, 2010 2:42 PM EST reply actions

Very true

The whole tradition angle is just to please the fans.

On the other hand, I think players do care about how they are treated by an organization and certain teams and coaches develop reputations. When it comes down to two teams offering similar contracts, the player is gonna choose the team that he’s heard takes care of its own, treats veterans with respect, has a good locker room.

Redskins have probably had the wrong reputation on that side for a long time, and the money covered a lot of it up. I trust the regime, and I’m not gonna criticize not giving Willie Parker $5 million … but it will be worth watching who actually comes to visit if this trend of not signing anyone continues.

Benny had two buddies at the club with him, both cops from PA who swear nothing inappropriate happened. Given that no criminal charges were filed in Las Vegas and that this new thing is just an investigation, we should adopt the innocent ’til proven guilty pose.

I have heard people at his college say he was a total predatory douche-bag (maybe not quite so strong). He may be the type that doesn’t fathom “NO!” Or, he should be the poster boy for Target.
