3 Years in a Row
It is now 3 years in a row that we have either Beaten or in the case of this year came all but a Suisham away from Beating the NFC Superbowl representative, and in 2 of them years (Cards last year and Giants game 2 the year before) we absolutely flogged the team.
Also in 2 of them years that Team won the SB.
So my question is, what does this mean??
Does it mean we are woeful underachievers, and a lot more talented than many of us like to accept.
or
Does it mean that we lack that most important of virtues in Sports, CONSISTENCY.
or
Does it mean we are one injury free season and a couple of good draft picks away from a Superbowl run
I dont know the answer (leaning towards consistency)
but interested in your views as always

Unfortunately I think it means.....
that the team gets overlooked, and the opposing team doesn’t bring their A-game.
I tend to think the 3
Problem being that on paper we should be a very good team but because of injuries (3 Chris’s, R. Thomas, etc.) and horrible play from some positions different times is why we were so bad. So with a good draft and all healthy players (well at least the ones that contribute positively) we could be a fairly good team

If we get the o-line squared away and get these guys playing to their potential now that we have a coach that can do that I think they could be a super bowl contender thers a lot of talent we need a back and an oline maybe we could get LT I bet shannahan could get him back to his 1000 yards a season.

some of it is parity
There is much closer parity in the NFL than most sports, especially if you compare it to college football.
I would agree that our disfunctional FO and coaching staffs have made the team inconsistent and that’s 1 thing that I think will improve with Shanahan.
Coaching and Front Office
Players play and must execute
Coaches coach and must coach
Both are required to be succesful and a winner.
The Colts were out coached, both teams played very similar, the saints did not win because of performance on the field being better than the other team on the field, this year the difference was coaching.
The Redskins won the last couple of years due to the players, coaching did not allow the team to be succesful and the Front office did not provide the coaches with the right players…to be succesful….
It means that either team can win in any game on any Sunday.
A lot of our games came down to one or two crucial plays that decided it. It’s about getting motivated to fight for every inch (Pacino) and then riding that motivation to more wins.
I agree with all the points above
as they seem to contribute. The only thing I would add is that this team for years now has had motivational and leadership issues. They seem to play (when they are not getting blown out) to the level of their competition, good or bad. So they will get all hyped up to play the Saints or the Cowboys and then barely show up for the Rams or Lions. This is the result of character issues, coaching, leadership, and lack of depth – due to paying too much for FAs, many of whom have been here solely for the paycheck.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
i agree with this
They seem to play (when they are not getting blown out) to the level of their competition
so that really relates to consistency, no?
it was so frustrating to watch the Cards last year especially, 6 or 7 weeks after we absolutely pasted them on their own field play in a Superbowl
I suppose thats the difference between a Jim Zorn and a Ken Whisenhut hey
