Hog #1 Goes To Canton
I can't believe that I'm the first one to post about it, but I'm happy to make my first fanpost a big tip of the burgundy & gold helmet to Russ Grim, the first Hog in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I used to feel that they must have really thought Joe Gibbs was an uber-genius, because he went to 4 Super Bowls and won three with only one HOF player, John Riggins, for two of them! Now that Monk and Green have been joined by Russ Grimm, I'm somewhat mollified p though I still think that Joe Jacoby and Gary Clark should at least get consideration.

Congratulations to Russ Grimm!
Deservedly earned, and well timed. Hopefully the team has a special Russ Grimm day with all the trimmings. Would love to see him on our sidelines someday, but he looks locked into Arizona or a HC somewhere.
Definately agree on Jacoby being in, and Clark shoulkd get a good look.
What was really cool
was that all the other enshrinees were most deserving as well. A first class class if you will.

The only guy I was a little surprised at
was Floyd Little – He was a stud back for his time, but I don’t remember him putting up huge numbers or having any defining moments. I didn’t hear his introduction due to all the noise at the party I was at, did they say anything about him besides him being recommended by the veterans committee? I do remember him as a class guy.

Will many of the other Hogs get in??
or will the Hall Voters think,
“we have ackowledged the Hogs with this pick”
and leave the other players out in future votes??

Good question.
Honestly, I think Jacoby should have gone in ahead of Grimm. Jacoby has to make it now.
Kinda think the Hall is also a popularity “he owes me one” thing.
Grimm may have
tipped the voting toward him by virtue of his coaching experiences with two SB contenders – Steelers and Cards. But Route 66, in my mind, was the ultimate Hog. It was amazing to see this behemoth pull and lead the counter tre the way he did. He had defenders scrambling to avoid the play when he was leading it. He was huge and fast, more like a contemporary than the guys he played against/with.

Yep, I agree.
By coaching it is easier to communicate with writers, establish relationships, have your face and name still out there. There are only 44 writers who vote, and they all cover each team and the league. It helps if you are a borderline guy, and hurts if you’re not still in the league.
Jacoby was my favorite skin, him and Riggo.
