Rabach to remain center of attention for Redskins.

We are going to extend a contract to Casey Rabach keeping him as our Center for the next few years. I believe this a a very smart move by the Redskins, as Rabach is a good, athletic center who is the leader of our O-line.  We need to sign Tony Pashos(RT 49ers), who will turn 30 at the start of the season.  We also need to get either Rex Hadnot(G- Browns) who just turned 28, or Chester Pitts(G- Texans) who will be 31 this summer.  Pitts by the way, has started every game for the Texans up until 2009 when injury cut his season short.

I would advocate keeping Chad Reinhardt to either compete for a spot at RG or RT, or be a back-up at both spots.  I would also hang onto Heyer as a back-up for both OT spots.  Mike Williams, Levi Jones, Randy Thomas and Will Montgomery should be left to sign with other teams.  We should retain Fanika, Edwin Williams and Will Robinson as practice squad players.  Our starting OL shoud be LT(whichever Rookie we select in the Draft), LG - Dock, C-Rabach, RG - Hadnot or Pitts, RT - Pashos.  Reinhardt, Heyer and Cory L should be kept on the 53 man roster.

We should sign Kevin Walter as a WR to help our young guys learn the new offense. I would also release Ladell Betts, and sign a RB in FA or get one in the later RD's of the draft.  I would like Willie Parker or Darren Sproles to split time with Poirtis.  If we get a RB in the draft, I would say Staffon Johnson fro USC or LaGarrett Blount from Oregon.

As for the defense, all signs point to the 3-4.  Some personell changes are in order.  Hanesworth will probably start off at NT, and will rotate between all 3 DL positions. I would keep Golston, Monty, Alaxander, Griffin and Jarmon to rotate amongst the DL. I would search out a late RD draft pick(Possibly Phil Taylor-Baylor) or an undrafted FA to give depth at NT.  I would move Carter to OLB opposite Orakpo.  Wilson would back up both OLB positions.  I would also sign a OLB via FA, and would make a play for Dansby to take over for Fletcher in the middle.  Re-signing McIntosh needs to be a priority.  In the secondary, I would leave all alone.  If Antrolle Rolle is realeased by the Cardinals, I would make a huge play for him, and plat him at FS next to Landry at SS.  If not, I believe we are ok in the secondary with Landry as FS and Horton at SS with Doughty and McKenzie backing them up.

So to recap, here's our FA Signings:

RT - Tony Pashos

RG - Rex Hadnot or Chester Pitts

WR - Kevin Walter

RB(?) - Willie Parker or Darren Sproles

LB - Carlos Dansby

FS(?) - Antroll Rolle

Rabach, etc

Sounds good and feasible, a good plan. I personally was thinking more of keeping Williams, Jones and Thomas, and getting rid of Heyer and Rinehart, but the coaches will know better on that.

What about

Lichensteiger(sp?) and Wiegman?

Also, I think we could go heavier in trading for draft picks (looks like Jason may be gone) and go with more draft picks. Don’t we want to get away from FA, which has done us dirty in the past?

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

Whitner from the Bills.

If they can get a first round pick AND Donte Whitner from the Bills to play FS for us, I’ll be ecstatic. I love JC17, but that would be a great pickup on two different levels. Okung at #4, Claussen at #8.

Beadles (G) in the 5th.

Donte Whitner is a nice FS

But, I doubt the Bills would give us a 1st. If we got a 1st from the Bills, I’d be fine with JC going, because that would be great, but I think we’d have to pull nothing short of a miracle for that. But I do like your draft scenario.

Ya, that's what I'm thinking.

Donte Whitner and a second seems more realistic. Jason Campbell and Chris Horton (to play next to Jarius Byrd) would get a first and Whitner (to play FS next to LaRon). Win-win, really.

If we could, in a scenario like that, get a first

I would not oppose it at all. Reed Doughty is a great SS and as much as I love Horton, having Doughty and Moore backing up Whitner-Landry, I really like that. I stand firm we need to go OL 1st and 2nd round, but if we get a second pick in the 1st, as much as I’d love a Russell Okung-Bruce Campbell monster duo on the OL, Clausen would be nice too.

This all sounds good Tiller.

If they think that Lichensteiber could be a starter in a few yew years then Rabach for 2 years sounds good. Hadnot/Pashos are sensible signings, as is keeping Rhinehart and Heyer. Get a starting caliber LT and another guard or tackle in this draft, and O-line is settled until next year.
Agree on getting an offensive playmaker, either Sproles or a pick.
Agree also on the Nose.
Dansby is gone, he got tagged. That’s ok, at least the Giants didn’t get him.
They have to get a quality LB that can play both defenses in the draft now. Could Sean Weatherspoon be there at 37?
I agree on Walter definately and Rolle if they make that move.
Would way way much prefer Rolle over Whitner. Cannot see the Bills giving up a 1, and would not like a 2 for Campbell given the QB situation at the moment.

Johnny, did I miss something?

When did Dansby get tagged? I have been looking all over trying to find this, and I can’t get the info anywhere.

Thanks SS, Thought I was going nuts there for a min.

I know the deadline to apply the transition and franchise tags has already past, and all I kept seeing on Dansby was that he was not going to be tagged.

The Rolle situation is going to be an interesting one to follow over the next 5 days.

Not tagged, but the Cards are working overtime to re-sign him.

I saw a report that they were going to lock him up before free agency. It sounded pretty definitive, but no announcement yet. I cannot imagine them losing both, but we’ll see.
