Ok, I am just joking about the good riddance part, I like Chris Cooley. I figured I should get that out of the way first. before the hate began. Chris Cooley has been a standout player for us. But, I do believe it might be time for us to say goodbye to him. I have read more then my share of posts, still saying that we should trade Jason Campbell because we need the draft picks. I am curious do we have a QB that can do better then Jason right now? If we get rid of Jason and draft a QB, is it a guarantee that QB will perform at or above the level of JC 17? In my humble opinion, doesn't it make more sense to trade Cooley for picks? We should get at least a 2nd and a 5th for him. I would think that he has as much value as Shockey or Winslow and that is what they went for. We already have a player in Fred Davis that has more upside then Cooley does. By the way Chris Cooley is not a stud blocker either. We can use Todd Yodder to fill in when it comes to blocking until Fred Davis becomes the all around stud.
Now for my caveat, if we are going to find a way to play two TE's then I say keep him. If we can not play them both then we will be wasting potential trade value having Cooley on the sideline and Davis on the field. Even if they split time I think that would be a waste, they are both starting TE's and have that kind of value.
