“We wanted to build a better online bridge between athletes and fans," Cooley says. "We wanted to create a place where athletes could be themselves and show their everyday personalities. I feel that fans deserve an open view of their favorite players, and I think SportsBUZZ is the perfect platform to help players do that. I believe the program is cutting edge in professional sports.”
An exclusive "members only" community, SportsBUZZ is a multi-media platform that allows fans to interact directly with their fans through blog posts, video messages, audio files and text messaging. Think Facebook on steroids, where each athlete has his own page and friends/fan lists. The site charges a registration fee of either $0.79 per month, per athlete followed, or $2.50 per month, per team followed.
