Redskins Add 4 Eagles to Endangered Species List

One adjective I wouldn't use to describe this Redskins team prior to the season was "physical," especially given the age of this roster. That was clearly not the case on Sunday. The Redskins battered four of the Eagles key players and Andy Reid spoke this morning on the injuries:

"Michael Vick has a rib cartilage injury. There are no broken bones, but he does have a rib cartilage injury. It's up high in the second and third ribs. LeSean McCoy has a rib fracture and they're doing some further tests on that but right now he has one rib fracture."

WR Riley Cooper and CB Asante Samuel also suffered concussions - Samuels got his concussion courtesy of trying to take on Mike Sellers. Injuries aside, the Redskins had a pop to their play yesterday that made them exciting to watch. Ryan Torain's steamroll of Quintin Mikell and  Lorenzo Alexander's pummeling of Jorrick Calvin on the kickoff return are the grand highlights of that. Who would have thought it'd be DHall involved on the play knocking a QB out? Hopefully this team can keep the momentum going against a very physical defense in the Green Bay Packers

Hopefully

we’ll build some positive momentum off of this, and the Eagles will head in the opposite direction.

NFL Gameday Final show on NFL Network

Did anyone else watch this garbage of a show? I know its still early but when asked who was the best team in the NFC East, the whole panel said every team accept for the Washington Redskins!! I didn’t know that if you had gone 2-0 in the division so far and beat the so-called “front-runners” for the division crown, that you still wouldn’t garner any respect from these “experts”. But thats ok! I hope they continue to doubt us! Lets take this division now!

HAIL!!!!

Interesting....

Eagles fans agree that the game was poorly officiated; however, they seem to think they got robbed. I mean, how about that incomplete fumble the Eagles got 5 yards on? How about the three holding non-calls that helped the Eagles? How about two face masks that didn’t get called? How about the third roughing the passer non-call?

The Eagles are LUCKY the refs were so heavily biased; I only saw one non-call that went the Redskins way, but I saw 75 yards more in penalties that SHOULD have been called against the Eagles and another 5 they were just gifted because Shanny didn’t throw out the hanky.

by BillWard on Oct 4, 2010 1:09 PM EDT reply actions

I completely agree

Those penalties were called for a reason, we outplayed them in a big way. Penalties are usually called because on that particular play the refs determined that if that cheating didn’t happen the play most likely would have turned out differently. Our D-line looked as good as it had all year and with a 4 man rush we were getting some good pressure, kind of reminded me of last year. There were multiple plays where I saw 2 of the eagles offensive lineman clearly holding on the same play. I’m not talking about so so calls, I’m talking about where guys got behind them and they were grabbing Redskin jerseys as if they were never going to see them again. Thats a testament to how good Shanny has these guys playing. Brian Orakpo should make the pro bowl on the just the amount penalties he draws. The guy is literally getting held every other play. He’s a beast!

I'm wondering where the guy that posted this is today?
weak argument that the Birds have no Super Bowls. And I reminded you that your team’s Super Bowls are old. And that our championships, pre-Super Bowl are greater, boasting things that the Redskins have NEVER done and NEVER will do. Now that’s Philly tough. See ya Sunday! I don’t think the Skins want to come to South Philly Sunday. But ya gotta come. Talk to ya Monday.

Eagles Fans

Sure are good at excuses, I mean wow have they had a LONG time to perfect their skills!!!!

Who would have thought it’d be DHall involved on the play knocking a QB out?

Given it was Hall that was ran over by Delhomme and Vick and him are boys, I never thought it would of been him in on a hit taking Vick out.

"You're fucking out!"

by travisjh86 on Oct 4, 2010 1:32 PM EDT reply actions

Even worse,

didn’t Delhomme juke him out?

by CarverM on Oct 4, 2010 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think he juked him out

he beat him to the sidelines and couldn’t bring him down or something like that

Like Ken said the Skins could be 4-0 or 0-4. The NFC North games are coming up, so fans can't get too down on the team

in that stretch. The Packers barely beat the Lions, so there is hope in that one in week 5. Clift improved his payday by using the Skins. Maybe Orakpo can make him pay back some of it.

I think we match up well against GB, and Chicago could go in any direction, much like our division games so far....

Peyton scares the shit out of me, we need to play 60 solid minutes, run the ball effectively the whole game, and score more points.

by MagicHat on Oct 4, 2010 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Great win!

The Eagles are vile and I’m so glad McNabb got to go into Philly and spank those moronic fans who were so ungrateful of all he did for them.

Way to go Washington, let’s put Philly and Dallas on the bottom of this division!

You play to win the game!

by Simms-McConkey on Oct 4, 2010 2:17 PM EDT reply actions

Congrats on your win as well....

very well might come down to the last game of the season for a playoff spot in this division. It wasn’t a great win, but it was a step.

Congrats on your win

I wasn’t sure what the Giants were going against an undefeated Bears team. I thought the Bears were overrated from the start and you guys really exposed their weaknesses. Good job. See you week 13 (I think).

WE NEEDED THIS WIN,but why is Brandon Banks not returning kick-offs ,we need him in there

about time we put brandon banks, in returing punts, but we need him returing kick -offs as well. He looks like he could break 1 at at anytime.

by ghost rider on Oct 4, 2010 3:34 PM EDT reply actions

problem with banks returning kicks is he's more likely to take a hit like lorenzo placed on their KR

you can take a big hit on punts too but KR’s are alot more straight forward running vs elusiveness on PRs

by skinsfan28 on Oct 4, 2010 3:53 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

interesting idea, but PK & KR can be very different

less room to operate on KR, and you take much bigger hits.

Congrats to the skins. They gave us a body bag game of our own.

The skins definitely brought the pain. A touchdown before half time or the Hail Mary and the game would have been different. Enjoy this one. We look forward to seeing you in DC. You guys have some tough games ahead. Enjoy this one, I say again.

Hey when the team is not that good, you have to be humble. When we were the beast of

the east, I was a bit more belligerent Philly style. But we sucked yesterday. We made Ryan Torian look like the 2nd coming of Earl Campbell.

You could blame the explosive running game on your defense

But I’d like to think the Shanahans somehow got the run game going. It was only a matter of time.

skins on pace for 6-10 record

6-0 in the nfc east, 0-10 against all other opponents

by Burgundy and Gold on Oct 4, 2010 4:46 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

ok ok, we may have a shot against chicago based on last night

(and i’ve already accounted for 2 wins against nyg)

7-9 could be good enough for the division crown this year

by Burgundy and Gold on Oct 4, 2010 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions

best case scenarios are possible

Green Bay and Indy play here and both are beatable.
We get Chicago and Detroit on the road. I would hope we can beat Detroit at least.
Puts us at 5-3 at the Bye.
Nobody in the 2nd half of our schedule is all that tough right now.
If we lose all our road games and win all the home’s we get a 9-7 and go 4-2 in the division.
Playoff’s anyone?

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

by GeoFly on Oct 4, 2010 7:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Minnesota hasn't looked good, and Dallas has had one good game, so they're still horrible in my book

As for the Giants, they look really bad for two weeks and looked brilliant on defense yesterday. Their offense is looking bad though. It’s not as tough as you think.

I'm back. YAY SUMMER!

we have to feel pretty lucky

Don’t have to play list: Saints, Jets, Pats, Falcons, Ravens, Steelers, Chargers and yes even the Chiefs.

by GeoFly on Oct 4, 2010 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Before the season I had a 10-6 scenario

We are now one game behind (2-2) – on track for 9-7. Beat @Bears, @Det, Phil, @Tenn, TB, @JAX, Giants. Lose to GB, Indy, Minn, @Giants, @Dallas. Looking ahead, @Bears, @Tenn, @JAX and Giants look a little harder than I had figured, but Indy and Minn look a little easier. All are tough but winnable.

cartilage

I can’t see Vick playing any time soon, but expect Reid to say he’s “day to day” for as long as he’s out, to try to make teams prepare for him.

LeSean may be the bigger loss. He looked great when he was in there. He could be a real pest for years to come.

by hsoup on Oct 4, 2010 6:46 PM EDT reply actions

I've had bad ribs before

It’s really hard to shake that type of injury. It hurts like hell every time you have contact.

I bet Vick is out for at LEAST 2 weeks

by DCtoAustralia on Oct 4, 2010 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Great win...feels good.

We played really well in the first quarter, first half for the most part. We were able to finish this game which we really haven’t in all the other games.

Do you think that this is because we are a first half team or is it because the teams we play adjust in the second half and we let them?
