I have to vent a little here.  But I'm becoming increasingly disappointed and, frankly, pissed off at our fan base. Everyone wants to point a finger at Danny boy for the past ten years of mediocrity b/c of his free agent signings, coaches, vinny, etc. etc.

But increasingly keep seeing fans on this board and elsewhere saying things like "hey lets trade draft picks for Vincent Jackson" or " Shawne Merriman is going to be released soon we should grab him." or insert any other big name that may be a FA or up for a trade. I've been guilty of saying some things like this to. But isn't this essentially the way Danny has run the franchise into the ground the past ten years from a personnel stand point. We point a finger at him, but a majority of us are still calling for the same type of similar moves he's made in the past.

Smuts is probably the best at preaching this, but shouldn't we build through the draft and get good, solid role players through free agency? Look at how many "home grown" players are now some of our best through hard work and perseverance.  This isn't Madden you just can't plug in a football team and play.
