Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

It's been an exciting week in Redskins news, but there isn't a lot to stimulate our attention in the near future. The continuing reorganization of our front office and the upcoming draft will be the hot topics for the next few months. Already people are debating on whether an Okung is better than a Berry, or maybe a Bradford. Many posters will continue to argue that our team has enough glaring holes that trading down our first pick (if we can) should be the best option. To clear assumptions, I thought it'd be helpful to post the draft value chart that every team uses to value each pick.
You'll see our 4th overall pick carries a value of 1800 points. To trade up, a team would have to offer the approx. weighting of two mid-first round picks. Keep in mind that this is probably the last year of the exorbitant rookie pay scale, so teams may not want to trade up into the Top 5.

Trade Chart...

Does anyone have the time to evaluate some of Vinny’s draft pick trades over the years to see how they measure on this chart?

I’ll gladly front-page that Fan Post if so….that one trade where we traded a 1st rounder for 2 second rounders I have a feeling is pretty bad.

"It was one of those things where everyone in the building was suddenly excited again," Cerrato said. "And all the women in the building were the most excited. They couldn't believe we were getting the guy from "Dancing With the Stars."

actually came out ahead on that trade. The #21 pick for the #34 and #48. 800 points for 980 points. Alanta got Sam Baker LT and we got Devin Thomas and Fred Davis. I think if the picks are for the next year then they are worth much less.

true dat

they rank in equivalency as being worth one round less than the current year

I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....

This chart is interesting b/c it was invented by one man: Jimmy Johnson

and then it became the standard for every NFL team.

Footballoutsiders actually has interesting analysis (as usual) that proposes what they think is a more logical value chart. I can’t find the link though.

I believe they think Johnson’s chart gives too much value to early first rounders and too little value to picks from future years.

I would also think that the numbers should be adjusted based on the strength of the draft class
